BioWare Denies Dragon Age: Origins Delay

A pair of online retailers have pushed their listed shipping dates for the upcoming RPG Dragon Age: Origins into November, but BioWare says the game is still on schedule for its planned October launch.

Dragon Age: Origins was originally scheduled for release on October 20 and remains that way in the eyes of most retailers, but both GameFly and Newegg have pushed it back into November: GameFly now says the game will ship on November 3 for the Xbox 360 and November 19 for the PlayStation 3, while Newegg has both versions listed as shipping on November 4.

GameStop, Amazon, Direct2Drive and GoGamer still have Dragon Age: Origins listed at October 20, however, and Erik Einsiedel of BioWare said the game is still on schedule. “We’re still tracking towards our October 20th release date, so I can’t comment on whatever’s appearing on GameFly and Newegg,” he told us.

So while it appears to be something of a tempest in a teacup, people are understandably jumpy about even the slightest sign of delays in the few games that remain scheduled for 2009. The holiday release schedule has already been gutted, with major titles like BioShock 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction and Red Dead Redemption among the many that won’t make it in time. Fortunately, it doesn’t look like we’ll be adding Dragon Age: Origins to that list.
