The latest and greatest version of everyone’s favorite open-source penguin racing game has been released. A new development team is taking over where Planet Penguin Racer left off and has announced its first release. The new version has a new campaign and fixes several bugs, but is primarily the new team’s way of introducing Extreme Tux Racer.
Upcoming releases will see new models and improved UI. The official wiki has a community to-do list, which suggests multiplayer modes, new audio, weather effects and more.
The development team has builds for Windows and several Linux distros available, as well as the source code, on its download page, and Linux users can expect Extreme Tux Racer in their repositories soon.
