Escapist Members Mobilize!

The Escapist has been given the great and unique opportunity to be part of a fun battle against our friends from BoingBoing Offworld (BBO) and Rock, Paper, Shotgun (RPS) in SONY's PLANETSIDE MMO.

Here's the deal

We have been granted 70 game keys go give away for the Planetside WAR. Each of the 70 people will be chosen at random and given keys on Monday, January 19th. The game will run from January 19th to February 13th.

We will be playing as The Terran Republic (TR) *see below for a full details*

How do we know who wins?

There will be 4 items that will allow us to achieve victory:

Having the highest rankings in all of these will bring us to victory over BBO and RPS! Do not take these two sites lightly!

This is a downloadable First Person Shooter MMO, so you must have a PC to play.

Awards

For participating in the event you will be granted a limited edition Planetside WAR badge. If, *cough* pardon me...WHEN we defeat our valiant foes, that badge will turn into a winner badge and turn GOLD.

Our Visitors

Some members from BBO and RPS may be joining us for discussion here as part of our community and our forums. Please welcome them to our community and help them if needed.

Immediate Dismissal

Here is your FIRST and ONLY WARNING. The following items will get your game key canceled, your badge stripped and your account banned (if you have to ask for how long, don't even bother signing up).

1) Unsportsmanlike Conduct: There will be no trash talking, foul language or defacing of enemy bodies. You are representing The Escapist and we are better than that. BBS and RPS are competitors, not enemies and should be treated with respect.

2) Unwillingness to Play: I have the ability to check each account. If I find out you are not playing (we would like to see 5 hours a week, which isn't that much) the above will happen to your account.

3) Cheating: There will be no mods used. SONY will be sending me updates on cheat reports. If I find out you are cheating in any manner, you are done with no ability to state your case.

4) Cross-Creating/Multiple Accounts: If you create another account to hopefully be picked for The Escapist, all of your accounts will be voided. Also, if you decided to play multiple sides, my friends at BBO and RPS will have no problem banning your account from their websites as well and being voided on this one.

So, to sum it all up, we want people that are going to put forth the effort to help us win. If you are not that person or people are repeatedly telling you about being a jerk (especially during video game time), don't apply to be part of this event.

The Terran Republic (TR)
The Terran Republic (TR), a conservative, authoritarian, collectivist nation who strive to regain contact with the home world and reunite the warring factions. Their leadership is a public oligarchy known as the Overwatch, composed of various representative officials and their associated Ministries, who regulate allotted portions of society in accordance with their own expertise and the collective will towards favorable outcomes. They believe that authority is the bastion that protects humanity and that in a truly free society, with no Big Brother to guide and watch over citizens, misery and suffering would quickly be visited to all. Furthermore, they regard the Vanu technology as dangerous and disruptive, a chaotic force threatening the stability of their righteous order, and only begrudgingly do they utilize it in warfare. Their vision of the future is one of peace restored through their benevolent rule, and humanity reunited by the reopening of the wormhole. They stand by the view that the Vanu went extinct by meddling with power on the orders of magnitude which was to be found in their artifacts and technologies, and they fear groups such as the Sovereignty will drive humanity to a similar fate, causing as much damage to reality as possible along the way. Their ordinance is characterized by its high rate of fire and correspondingly great ammunition consumption.
