Press Junketeer Posts: 391 Joined: 31 Oct 2007 | Well Drong is short for Drongnel which was my name in wow, it's dwarfish (from the old warhammer armies dwarf book) it means stew made from Dragon steak and strong dwarf ale and i just liked it though it led to alot of people asking me if i was danish (not helped by the fact that i had a pet turtle called tuin after the star turtle a'tuin from the discworld novels however tuin also means garden in danish (i think it was danish anyway, might have been dutch, i really can't remeber) my pic is a Banksy graffiti showing Samuel L Jackson and John Travolta ala pulp fiction but clutching bananas instead of guns. It was in London and then some council idiot painted over it not realising it was worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, the report's here for anyone whos interested... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6575345.stm |

I had a friend do something similar with Vogy, and we played alot of WoW together and counterstrike, so I thought it gave us a cool team atmosphere. ... That said, I can't express my frustration when it was already taken on xbox live. Who the hell names themselves after me? The image is meant to be a nod towards an obscure music video/song which I love. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3030 Joined: 21 Jan 2008 | Funny, I swear I posted the reason for my screen name.... Ah well. Anyways, stompy is a random name I was assigned in Halo PC, and it stuck. The current screen name is a Brute Chieftain, simply because I think he looks cool. - A procrastinator Edit: My current avatar is a funny picture I found, which, as you can see has a picture, and below it, the text 'Communism: Never looked so cute'. Edit: My current avatar is a pic of the Combine insignia. 'Cos the Combine are awesome. |
News Room Contributor Posts: 1877 Joined: 21 Feb 2008 | I came up with nilcypher after thinking about words combinations that sounded cool to say. I wasn't going to use it, but I used it to sign up for my Steam account and just kept it. I also seem to be the only person on the internet that's using it, so if you see a nilcypher anywhere, it's me. I can't remember where I found the avatar, just a random image that I saw that I liked. |

Press Junketeer Posts: 450 Joined: 14 Jan 2008 | Because, it was better than Agent Slifer or Midnight. My 2 usual names. The Lord Ascendant is the name of the leader of the Order of the Obsidian Flame from a novel I am writing. I thought it would fit in nicely. The Avatar is the Nod Symbol from Command and Conquer and thats because im EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL. And besides, it looked cool. EDIT: The Avatar is a Margonite from Guild Wars: Nightfall. Edit for the EDIT: The avatar now is a Turian from Mass Effect |
Paperboy Posts: 29 Joined: 16 Apr 2008 | Kikyoo, despite what some people may think, was and has always been an original creation of mine. Since I came up with the name, everyone who knows me on the internet, knows me as Kikyoo. The origin of why the name stuck with me is kinda long, but I feel like telling anyways! Kikyoo came into my head back when I was playing Monster Rancher for the 2nd time. My first creation had been a giant Purple Dinosaur who basically won the entire game because he was so freaking powerful. I fused him together with another monster too create a stone dragon. Then I created 2 more dragons. The headless white spirit dragon, and the Red dragon. Ragron was the name of the stone dragon, and he decimated rank S matches easily, with extremely high attack and defense and HP. Rife the spirit dragon didn't do nearly as well, but lived for a really long time. Most monsters in the game died off after 4 years. Rife lived to be 11 years old. Then there was Kikyoo. Frankly I was using him to find all the abilities dragons could use. His stats were well rounded in every area, but he did not do well at all. He never even got to a Rank A match. So I run around doing tournaments, getting money and supplies for future ventures, and I enter one of the harder ones for a dragon fang, needed to make more dragons. I enter the tournament knowing full well that my chance for victory was slim, and expecting too get knocked out quickly. The first matches are easy, but then I come against the stone dragon. Right away he slams me with his most powerful move, and I let out a sigh, because the move in question was one Ragron used frequently, and one shotted ever powerful opponents with it. But I notice I am not dead. It was surprising, but the move only hurt me a bit. So I rouse the move he just used on me, and hit him with it. I managed to hurt him. So we started a massive slam fest, the first real fight I'd had in the entire game. The first fun fight I'd had in the entire game. It was a hard fight, I had to use all the moves at my disposal to win, but I won in the end. Since then the name Kikyoo has stuck with me. I feel like it makes a statement about me. Wisdom and Strength are meaningless, what I prize most is the good fight. For my reference of it, Kikyoo to me means "Dragon of the Desperate battle" and he lives up too that extremely well. I believe also in Japanese Kikyo is a type of flower, and also there is an anime woman with that name, but I don't care about either of them. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1367 Joined: 12 Sep 2007 | Never had an avatar, probably never will. My screen name comes from a D&D game I DM'd back around '82 or '84. I was attempting to describe a wererat, and one of the players blurted out "It's a werepossum!" Tea and beer were blown out noses, and the image of a man transforming into not a wolf, but a devious, scavenging, ambling, upright man-possum has struck me as funny ever since. I also use possumtrot sometimes - if you've spent much time around possums, you know that even when very startled they generally move relatively slowly, but occassionally they will actually raise up off the ground and run very quickly. In that state they can't really maneuver, just run straight ahead (albeit quickly), and it looks hilarious. That player was about three sheets to the wind, and also came out with "nobgoblin" trying to say "hobgoblin". That was pretty funny at the time too. |

I misspell it since there is a greater likelihood that the misspelled version won't have been taken already. It's a simple name really; I like to play games and I'm a girl. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 91 Joined: 21 Feb 2008 | Came up with the name may years ago, chopped off the first bit, just because i thought having a nick that translated to god of the machine, or god from the machine was a little to egotistical. The 00 was added when I got bugged about missing the first bit. As for the picture, it's a screen capture form Akira. I picked it because I like the movie and the idea of laser bazookas. |

Tuin is definitely Dutch for garden, but maybe Danish too.. :P At any rate that's the best name for a turtle EVER. My name's simple really... My name's Samantha though nobody has called me that in the past 2 years, they all call me Sam. A name with Sam in it seemed logical, sandwiches are nice and not a lot of people use this nickname. Thus Sammich was born. My avatar is Kotomi from Clannad because I have a thing for intelligent but socially awkward girls. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 115 Joined: 2 Apr 2008 | Fyrh was the name of my character in a UO RP server some years back. Half giant, 56 years young. In OOC discussions people would call me fyrh56 to avoid confusion, since apparently there was an human whose shortened name was also "fyrh". I actually never met the guy, so it was an enormous coincidence. |

My avi is Scud The Disposible Assassin and the title of one of the "graphic novels" (ok, collection of comics) he's in is called "Programmed For Damage". If you look at disaster area that has been my life for the past 20 years, you'd see that the title is very apt. |

Beat Writer Posts: 194 Joined: 23 Apr 2008 | The name comes from an incredibly stupid conversation years back about Google being akin to the Borg, eventually hitting a low at compliance and how resistance is futile, and well, not being in compliance is what I'm all about. If I am, it's because I truly the best way to do things. Hell, it's getting stupider as I type it up. Anyway, Knuckles. The only explanation I feel necessary about that is that it comes from Sonic 2 with Sonic and Knuckles, Chemical Plant Zone 1, captured from an actual Genesis long before a ROM dump became available and anyone could possess such an icon far easier than the way I made mine. And I feel that's the only explanation necessary because the extent to which Knuckles rules should, by this point, be a universal constant, known far and wide. |
