Gone Gonzo Posts: 1809 Joined: 14 Nov 2007 | woah, wait...what? I didn't hear, see or feel a thing. Whereabouts in the UK was most affected? |
Paperboy Posts: 15 Joined: 10 Feb 2008 | I'm up near Manchester and I knew what it was immediately. Was pretty worried as it was the strongest I've ever felt in this country. Chair n tables wobbling but not strong enough for anything to actually fall over. Itty bit of a shock though. |
Paperboy Posts: 47 Joined: 2 Nov 2007 | i didnt notice anything, but im down by dover. WoW guildmates from london all freaked out though. |

Muckraker Posts: 284 Joined: 17 Oct 2007 | Yeh i feel like i read something about that. According to ze intrawebs there was "mild earthquake behavior" in london at around 1AM. Fun fun.
Thats humorous. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 2 Joined: 27 Feb 2008 | Yeah i felt it, had no idea what on earth was going on and thought i was going mad, and then a friend in Bath said she felt it a few seconds later lol. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 125 Joined: 31 Jan 2008 | Didn't feel anything up here in the frozen wastes of Scotland. Biggest quake in the UK for 20 years apparently. ps. I'm taking bets on how long before someone tries to blame global warming. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 110 Joined: 7 Sep 2007 | Yea pretty bad here, I'm not too far from Epicentre. Wondered what was going on, loads of crap fell out my wardrobe. |
Muckraker Posts: 290 Joined: 13 Jan 2008 | Nothing down here in Brighton. Think Manc got the last one England had too. Must be the closest to fault lines etc. |

Lol I'd say about the evening news for our first sanity bating from the fear mongers. |
Muckraker Posts: 228 Joined: 28 Jan 2008 | Felt it here in Portsmouth, I didn't think it was a quake though, I thought my dinner was acting up. |
Paperboy Posts: 33 Joined: 17 Dec 2004 | Brentwood, Essex. Hardly felt anything but fairly subtle chair wobbling. Good to know what it was though. |
Muckraker Posts: 244 Joined: 8 Jan 2008 | Well I must have got the brunt of it then, it felt like my floor was moving. Pretty freaky shit. |
Paperboy Posts: 50 Joined: 28 Nov 2007 | I'm uni in Warwick, and I didn't feel anything. But I'm on exchange to Hong Kong at the moment, does this still count? |
Beat Writer Posts: 179 Joined: 4 Jan 2008 | Freaked me out here in the Midlands. I've never felt an earthquake before; I was playing Sins Of A Solar Empire when the whole room started shaking. Apparently the epicentre was in Lincolnshire, luckily there isn't much there :-) |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 668 Joined: 19 Dec 2007 | Doncaster here. Was brushing my teeth when it happened. Didn't feel a thing, but it sounded like my dad fell out of his chair. Then the noise continued, and it scared my sister witless. "Mam! Mam, get in here! Get in here, mam!" She's a wuss sometimes. |
Paperboy Posts: 16 Joined: 20 Feb 2008 | I felt it all the way down here in the East Anglia, just a mild wobbling and the faint sounds of plaster settling itself.
Already happened. I was reading through the comments on the BBC 'Have your say' pages, and there it was. You can only hope it was sarcastic. |

Probably some Times reader. I reckon somewhere got nuked, and they're saying it s a quake to cover it up. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 53 Joined: 1 Jan 2008 | I slept through it, but some friends woke because of it. It was only minor tremors here, I'm about 100 miles off where it happened so I suppose that's why. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1011 Joined: 16 Jan 2008 | Midlands, Staffordshire. Didn't feel a thing, but got a text a moment after it should've happened from me brother saying: "We just had an earthquake!!" |

It's possible to get earthquakes elsewhere. England had another Biggest Earthquake Evar a few years back. Mind you, Wikipedia doesn't seem to know how. It's still immensely satisfying to know that, unless you're really really stupid, you can't actually blame Global Warming for this. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1809 Joined: 14 Nov 2007 | Apparantly only one person was injured, which isn't too bad all things considered. |
Beat Writer Posts: 133 Joined: 9 Feb 2008 | ahh no earthquake in scotland and about someone saying we arent near any plates. isnt like britain and europes plates close enough? and edinburgh castle's volcano is extinct i believe so probs wont erupt. also this made me realise every disaster in the world DOESNT seem to affect scotland. ice caps melting doesnt go high enough, earthquakes, that tornado/hurricane a little while ago. hah we are bulletproof |

The US has a nuke aimed directly at Scotland, BTW. Edit: Joke. |

TBH that actually makes some sense, its where most of the UK nuke silo's are. Take a trip to Arbroath and look for the glow in the dark cows and Royal Marines, you'll know you're close then. |
