My computer sometimes reacts just instants before my cellphone rings. It kind of worries me. |

Speaking of technical quirks, my friend has a pair of speakers that just randomly output noise. They're not plugged into anything. I also get moments of deja-vu frequently. It'll just hit me as the event occurs. Though, I never remember what happens after the deja-vu moment occurs, so you couldn't say I'm psychic. I'll let it be known if I ever predict my own death and avoid it. |

Don't worry that happens to mine as well. And my stereo. I think it's just the signal inermefering with the electron beams of the whozamafidgits. |
Muckraker Posts: 308 Joined: 15 May 2007 | I once had a dream about a regular old night where nothing special happened. Just sitting listening to music in the dark with my ex. I forgot about the dream until about a week later when we were sitting in the dark, listening to music and talking. I thought that was weird, and just as a joke, I told her she was going to have to leave soon as that is what happened in the dream. She laughed then said she wasn't going anywhere. After excusing herself to the bathroom, she came back out with a really weird look on her face to say that she had to leave to go get feminine products from her apartment. She kept looking at me like I was creepy the whole night. |

The kind where you not only think you've done something before, but you can actually remember/predict what'll happen next. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3517 Joined: 25 Jan 2008 | Had a good laugh yesterday because of my psychic/psychotic senses... I was pulling in to park at EB Games when two cars cut me off trying to get parked in a mad rush. I look over at my roommate and say "Oh m'gods... Gots to get mah copy of Rockband before people realize it's teh gay!". We proceed to the door, when a guy walks out with the huge-ass Rockband box, and the two f**kers who cut us off stare at the box for a couple seconds, then doubletime it inside... |

Oh, yeah, and there were a hundred other times when I thought something was going to happen and then it didn't, but they don't count. Take a statistics class already. Social psych also explains the many useful but fallible heuristics that we use in pattern-seeking. |

There are lies, damn lies, and statistics. Statistics don't explain how a woman could psychically influence here chickens to lay eggs with specific patterns on. True story. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 3517 Joined: 25 Jan 2008 | Often, the sense of knowing the phone will ring before it does is just a case of another phone in the house ringing before the local one, and you only hear it subconciously. Now DEATH CLOCKS, there's some psychic premonitions. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 83 Joined: 7 Mar 2008 | Gee that's a hard one, where to start, Every time I think "Hey, I should call my best friend and see if he wants to hang out..." The phone rings and it's my best friend and he wants to hang out. Also, every time I think back on how close I was to my late cousin, and how much fun we had as kids, Here comes the Sun by the Beatles starts playing. The song strangely enough I had stuck in my head during the funeral and later on was played on the radio when the family had dinner at a nearby resturant. I could name other strange happenings but, then I'd look crazy and I'm not, weird shit just tends to happen to me. |

Still... predicting zombies at a respectable art gallery? I think statistics are in my favor. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1122 Joined: 7 Mar 2008 | I don't know if it's considered psychic but...I generally know when people are lying. Sometimes even if I'm reading a book I'll stop and think to myself, "He's lying." I also have odd instances of Deja Vous. At the most random times, I'll stop and think to myself, "I've done this before..." Once it happened during a play (Sweeny Todd; brilliat play and I hope Johnny Depp doesn't f*** it up) another time while I was playing kickball, and another time while I was talking to my sister. I don't know what it is. Also, I generally know who's on the phone when they call, but this can be attributed to my massive intellect and amazing guessing ability. |

Evidently your amazing modesty was in your other jeans. And I sometimes think "I wonder what so-and-so is doing today, and then bam, they call/text me. And I have the uncanny ability to know when my toast is about to pop from the toaster. I'll be in the other room, and then jus randomly get up, and as I walk into the kitchen the toaster pops. Either my toaster sense is tingling, or I subconsciously know the time it takes for my toast to be done. I prefer to think its the former. |

recent studies have said that deja vu occurs cause you HAVE done it before, just in your sleep. the brain runs vr simulations in your sleep, safest place to kill yourself and test out theories without actual harm to you. hence the feeling of knowing exactly what to do and acting out of reflex instead of actual time wasting thought. personally with psychic stuff i don't think most ppl are at all. silvia brown and a guy whom i'll only refer to as j.e. cause his nda made shotime's lawyers say "don't mention him", are total frauds and use a trick called cold reading. they are easy to fool and easy to get fooled by cause they prey on ppl who are upset. i've had some messed up stuff happen but i don't think i'd chalk it up to psychic activity. maybe if we evolved more as a species we'd see something come out. but there's too much crap and not enough real stuff. honestly for a good thing on psychic's watch the first episode of penn & teller's bullsh*t, it talks about psychics, there's a few they do on them, the best is the ventriloquist's dummy yelling at the medium using a crystal. they also do a funny experiment with oujia boards, most of them are psycoautnomic (sp?) reactions, meaning you are moving the object without your own knowledge, hence that "presence" ppl feel when using a oujia board it's a lie everyone believes and accepts much like the one when you catch your parents in the act and your dad says "oh me and your mom were just moving some furniture last night" and you know it's a lie but you accept it as the truth cause that's better than the real truth. |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 539 Joined: 28 Feb 2008 | The thing is, I never actually said I was psychic. I was just pointing out how the randomness of my mind closely resembles it. I do that a lot, but when I'm sleepy, anything's possible in my mind. XD And on the topic of Deja Vous, what if we are all psychic, but we mostly just have premonitions of mundane things? |

Haha, same here, my computer and my TV will make noises when something is going to happen with my friend's cellphone, whether it is someone about to call or someone sending a message. Anyways, onto psychic. I sometimes hear someone's voice in the room in my head, on topic about what's going on, and for some reason I end up saying at or just before the same time they do. |

Muckraker Posts: 281 Joined: 20 Jan 2008 | This one time, I had a deja vu last for 8 seconds. I think that's pretty good considering they're usually just fraction of a second things. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 62 Joined: 23 Jan 2008 | I get that mundane boring stuff de ja vu that i've already dreamed it (like I'd already been in a particular class at school - one I remember best because I think it was the first time to happen - been about 5 or 6 occassions now and I'm 22) Sometimes it's years before it kicks in though.... sometimes sooner (like weeks or months). It's just weird and unsettling more than me thinking im psychic. The common theme throughout is that I never remember the dream until the sense of de ja vue, which does leave me wondering if I've actually had these dreams... and any dreams I do remember have never occured. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1367 Joined: 12 Sep 2007 | Jannycats, you may be able to hear the phone charging a capacitor. Some older phones use them to power a ringer, and some people (usually young women, sometimes young men, very seldom old farts like me) actually can hear that very slight, very high pitched whine. The capacitors also made amusing toys in that you can charge them and leave them around for others to pick up and receive a surprising though harmless shock. Haven't seen a phone like that in a couple decades, though my first wife always knew when the phone was about to ring; she could hear it clearly enough to realize she was hearing it. Newer and cheaper phones usually use low-powered piezo buzzers IIRC. Interesting thing about knowing when people are lying - my wife and I tend to react at the same time, and both say it's like the sentence or phrase is the wrong "color". Go figure. I personally don't think it's psychic powers though, just some minute change in tone that triggers intuition. |

Gone Gonzo Posts: 1718 Joined: 13 Sep 2007 | I've got two big ones. One was when I was young, and I dreamed of a perfectly ordinary school day before it happened. I thought it did happen, but it didn't. Everything was the exact same when I woke. The other was only a week ago, when I went to Switzerland. I'd had a dream, several weeks before in Canada, that showed some of my Friends and some people I never even knew existed before I went on the trip on a train, going down a mountain. I have no fucking clue how it happened, but one theory is that I am the only true being, you are all figments of my imagination, and I simply got the idea for the event from the random images in my dreams. |

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had an amusing coincidence occur to them lately.
I just had one and I don't know about you, but I find it somewhat... Unsettling to have accurately predicted that zombies were going to be at a gallery opening. Just shows how arbitrary my mind is. Here's an elaboration:
I was in my hometown last week, so I decided to go to a nice art gallery to see the new exhibits which featured a friend of mine.
A few hours before I was going to go, I was doing the dishes when the phrase, "What a bunch of useless Zeds..." and imagry of a average-Joe kinda guy in a navy hoodie popped into my head.
When I was there, a guy in the same shade of blue says, "Here come the zombies," and people in bad zombie outfits came in and walked around. It was a reasonably formal occasion, too, with cocktail dresses and the begruged college students whose attendance was required.
