I remember a few years back, when I thought there were only children and teenagers on the net. I mean, looking at all the deranged theories out there, and all the insanely stupid comments there could be no other way - right? It came as a huge shock to me when many of the authors of those comments came forth and claimed to be parents, and to have a job and a house. Judging from what they wrote I would never trust them with more than 10$, much less a child and even less than that, a vote. What I am trying to say here is that not only teenagers are deranged. A significant amount of the grown-ups act mindnumbingly stupid and show little to no trace of an independent mind. It was the internet which made me lose all respect for authorities. |

Hah! Wait until you go to register a game and find out the year-of-birth slider doesn't go all the way back to yours. Now THAT is cold. |

Best to get that first failed marriage out of the way fast, that's what I did. Luckily no kids, kids mean this person is in your life for the REST of your life. I actually get along with my ex just fine, but I wouldn't want to see her every week. As far as losing a spouse or lover to another, my philosophy is they did you a favor. If someone CAN be stolen, then they weren't true to begin with. And your ex-wife's husband should know that the old adage - when a man marries his mistress, that creates a vacancy in that position - applies to women as well. |

You have truly had a rough time, and I hope blessings come into your life. I'll say a prayer for you. Actually you might be able to walk again - they are making wonderful strides in prosthetics, in no small part due to the number of amputations caused by the war in Iraq. Many upper-leg amputees are actually staying in the army and functioning perfectly well. Freddie Franks, commander of a large part of the coalition forces in the first Gulf War to free Kuwait, is an amputee (BK) due to an injury sustained in Viet Nam. You can still have and enjoy children if you wish, just not biological children. Mine are step-children, and I have a good friend who has adopted two beautiful Chinese orphans from religious beliefs rather than medical necessity. Trust me, they are functionally the same as your biological children. |

Just getting around to reading most of this thread, and this is priceless. Sometimes (preferably when you're single!) you meet someone who seems so wonderful that you can't believe they're on the market. Then you get to know them and say "Oh, right." |

That's really sad, on the part of the registration apps' designer's side. Then again, I typically lie about my DOB on anything that shouldn't've been asking for it in the first place. If they didn't have my year, it makes it even easier. On that topic: who thinks age gates are a complete waste of energy? |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 668 Joined: 7 Nov 2007 | I am a 15 year old gamer, but has anyone noticed, a large majority of young american 10 year olds can sound like girls, unless your like my classmate, who's nickname is "joe pasqually" (i think i spelt that right). |

pwn3d, PWN3D, thats just sad, these people havn't been "pwn3d", they've just had a much harder life than you or me, consider yourself luucky, and to the cancer patient, look on the bright side, you still have your life, and many people can lead a relativly "normal" life on cruches or in a chair, and for infirtility, there is always adoption. |

Beat Writer Posts: 158 Joined: 7 Mar 2008 | I was wondering what kind of age demographics use the Escapist forums. I've divided the options into what I feel are the most definitive age groups (if you're younger than 10: sorry, but I don't really care what you have to say on this site. That probably applies largely to those under about 14 as well). Pre-teen |

My actual age, 24, wasn't really relevant to my bracket comment, only to my dislike of being grouped with 19 year olds. In addition, my "disgust" was sarcastic (I generally enjoy the company of the 19 year olds I meet these days, if only because they're typically filtered through my 21 year old friends, or through places like the Escapist which attract quality), while my bracket critique was quite sincere.
