I go with the warhammer setting, but I think in fairness to those who have not played warhammer/Morrowind/oblivion/D&D that the setting should be a generic one.

Or at least something we can look up easily on the event we have a question. I can get facts on all kinds of people and equipment from world war 2 online, not so well for Warhammer, 40K or something similar... Hell, I wouldn't know the difference between Warhammer and 40K if I went looking for it online.... Plus there are all the unofficial fan sites that distort or change the facts...

I think this forum is going in the wrong direction maybe we should start another one about ideas for rps.

I'm a little bit confused as to why people have no problem doing a 40k but when it comes to a fantasy roleplay it becomes "durr wats dat".

Warhammer is more than likely easier to understand than Warhammer40,000, especially if you have followed DnD or any sort of Fantasy scene.

But seeing as how we're not doing that how about this. A spy Roleplay. You take the role of an operative for MI5. However it is found out one of the Operatives is a traitor who was planning on supplying information to a radical political party that has links to terrorists.

For the security of the nation all operatives are placed in lockdown in Thames house. The other spooks must find the traitor before they are allowed to leave.

Theres more depth to this, I just can't be bothered to type it all up.

-30's mafia/movie noir.
The glitz and the glamour of the movie industry of the 30's. A new production company (Escapist Productions) has arrived on the field to rival the Big 3. To gain money to start off, the executive producer cut a few deals with the mob. Failing to pay up the mafia have started moving in during shooting of the film 'Dracula's Revenge!'. Suddenely people start dropping like flies. Was it another movie company, the mob or something much much sinister?

-Fallout.
Mining town of Escape is a small community of mixed population. After the mutant war struck, Escape brought in a few 'less-violent' super mutants to coexist with the ghoul/human population. When people start dying racial tension grows high as figures start get pointed. Although, why would someone want this sleepy community dead?

-Bioshock.
Rapture was once a beautiful city, full of the greatest minds in the world. After a tunnel collapses and a small group of people get stranded. Safe from the flood they have to hold out until help arives from the other side. (Set before chaos ruled and the city destroyed). Yet, a hidden killer lurks in their midts. Who is she/he and what are their motives?

-Cyberpunk.
1999. The streets are ripe with crime and violence. One has to survive by using tech to advance themselves. Spiders (or webbers) hack the net and the police try to rule this left wing society. In a small underground bar, ruled by the local mob boss, a team of copperate G-Men have come to discuss a 'sellout' to make way for their new building, 'Biotech Industries'. Yet someone else has different motives and has started to hunt everyone inside the bar.

I like the idea of the Fallout RP, we could show the Fallout community how to make a good roleplay.

I veto Fallout for the same reason people veto Warhammer. See, I can be unreasonable and fearful of Wiki, too.

I proceed to build a tower out of boxes, pour fuel on the floor, light it with my fire plasmid and sit atop my tower preaching reasons why Andrew Ryan's egoist/realist viewpoint on human society is flawed and unnecessary to passing splicers.

I'm for the fallout or mob RPs anyways.

Sorry to keep continuously bringing this thread from the dead but my imagination is to wild to sit down on something. I thought of another lynching game that I really like moreso then the others: A modern day magic one.

A secret group of people who live hidden underground fight extradimensional creatures who threaten earths peril. A creature prophosied to have imense power is about to make its return and destroy all of the human population. Yet one of your group may be one of the followers.

They use a range of different magical abilities (I'll extend on them all to give a longer description and power range):
-Telepathy
-Extrasensory Perception
-Psychokinetic abilities X2
-Psychoportive abilities
-Psycho-Metabolic abilities ("mind over body")
-Metacreativity
-Theraputic Uses
-Alteration
-Conjuration
-Illusion
-Mysticism
-Necromacy

I'd only have 13 people to play (one for each class) to make it short and sweet. The game would be a mix of lynchings and fighting with your powers against different monsters who I'll play.

Oh yeah, I guess that means I'm all for that.

Telepathy? Remember the Starcraft one? Sounds good though.

I'm not sure about the Magic one, interesting idea and scenario but I think the powers won't work well. People will complain about them being left with lame old illusion and then this will lead to people using illusion on other people and make them run off a cliff out of pure spite. However if you make control over the use of the magic then that kind of ruins the whole point of RP with magic.

Also I'm sure time zones differences will ruin any battle with the monster. Some people would need to stay up into the wee hours of the morning just to be able to fight your monsters at the same time as your controlling them. Maybe if you just let the monsters be controlled by other players who are fighting them (similar to the Troll Slayings) then it might work. Still during these battles you'll have the dickhead who has illusion make the monster invisible or something, and then make the players run off a cliff.

If this does go ahead however, can I be the guy with Illusion.

The magic RP sounds interesting, though, as Fire said, it could get a bit out of hand.

I'd definitely be interested in joining the Fallout RP, since it's one of the few game universes I know intimately.

I have been thinking about having a Battle of the Second Death Star RP. You could be any of the countless heroes. Han, Leia, Chewbacca, Lando, Wedge Antilles, Tycho Celchu, Arvil Crynyd, and many more... Or you could be a pilot for the Empire. If anyone wants to do this, hit me up, and I will write it all out, including a Storyline so everyone knows where it is going. We would switch between the ground and space battle, and there would even be rewards... If someone is willing to be R2D2 and C-3PO I would let them have control of the Ewok Army for fun... Since no one ever wants to be a prissy robot, that would be your reward.

Well remeber Fire, there are rules as to what you can do to somebody's player without their consent. Plus the puppetmaster can make a falling rock the size of a person land right where said griefer is, and we can ask the mods to remove something or just pretend it isn't there.

I like the idea, nobody will be worse off because they know less, the story can go in any direction and it is cool.

Anyone who wants to be in my roleplay needs to PM me and tell me which character you want to be. The only thing is you can't be the Emperor, Darth Vader, Admiral Ackbar or any of the Imperial Commanders. I need these people available for my manipulation to move the story along...

Now there are 3 different types of Psychokinetic abilities because there are so many: control over fire, water, light, etc. The thing is you fight monsters not each other with your powers and I write out what they do and what things they're immune to. Until that is when you work out the killer... even then there is something big lurking.

Nothing huge and major though. Such as having control over water you first need to find a pipe or something, or maybe a conjurer could summon some for you. Team work. I got the idea from watching Dr Strange: The Sorcerer Supreme off Youtube.
