So.... Massive build-up of troops at the mexican border before I launch a tactical nuclear strike at Mexico City.... Followed by a landing of about 50 troops on some French beaches... A threatening phone call to Russia, a promise of a payoff to the UK and another series of Nuclear strikes across the middle east... Followed up by "Internment Camps" for any of the people who are of the same nationality as the countries I destroyed? Look at some world war examples- the Somme, Caen, Stalingrad, Verdun, the list goes on.... I am not saying we can perform an act of 'overwhelming force' today, i am saying that if you can muster and inflict this kind of force then the enemy cannot recover or counterattack. And you are right, you had better be sure you can win within the next month. Thats the whole point of 'overwhelming force', anything less is insufficient. As for the 'bigger death star' concept, a romantic view of wartime practice ill grant you, poetic in its irony. But sooner or later the faction with the greater resources will build a weapon that the enemy cannot better. Admittedly i am by no means advocating any violent practices... but the universe is not 'fair', a place where karma and time will make any force fall with enough rousing speeches and burning faith. It is possible to be so superior you can bludgeon down any opposition that rears its head. Overwhelming force is so terrible and brutal i doubt in its true form it has ever been seen on the earth, and really, i hope it never is. User was banned for: Escapist Election! (First eliminations). Bad news... there is no way to prepare for a Nuclear Strike. Even if your early warning satellite catches the launch, the best you can hope for is to ride it out and hope enough missiles survive to hit back... Firstly- Thanks for the advice (Buick, Tac nuke, Capitol Hill) But that is my point. If the Russians and the Chinses and the Yanks all went nuclear, enough missiles would survive to olbiterate the enemy, becasue the cold war arms race WAS the preparation for this event. |

Well, then you've got to nuke them too. Pre-empt the people who don't like pre-emps.
I don't see any threat from Iran or North Korea. The Iranians are under too much scrutiny and pressure to do anything and the North Koreans have yet to make a bomb stronger than a truck filled with conventional explosives. When combined with the fact that they're both looked at with suspicion by the rest of the world and they're pretty much paralyzed.
