Blind Melon - No Rain

"And I don't understand why I sleep all day
And I start to complain that there's no rain

And all I can do is read a book to stay awake
And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape..."

That's the story of my life.

Hmmm, if I die an old man, Hurt by Johnny Cash. If I die young then I want something light, Paradise City by GnR, or maybe Whats My Age Again by Blink-182.

This will make me full of myself but It's The End Of The World As We Know It by REM, then again I would feel fine.

Or when they are done using my body for science, Turn You Inside Out by REM when they cremate me.

Or I agree the last 50 secs. of Killing In The Name.

Or Personal Jesus by DEPECHE MODE, the line someone who cares will just start a riot.

Crap. Believe it or not, I actually have a mix CD that's to be played in the event of my death. Here's the track listing:

2. Immortality -- Pearl Jam
3. Rabbit in the Headlights -- UNKLE
4. Exit Music (For A Film) -- Radiohead
5. Cello Song -- Vast
6. Hiru no Tsuki -- Akino Arai
7. We Once Were (One) -- The Album Leaf
8. Thule -- The Album Leaf
9. Eliot Smith --Miss Misery
10. Across the Universe -- Fiona Apple
11. Somewhere Over the Rainbow -- Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
12. The Good Times Are Killing Me -- Modest Mouse
13. Don't Give Up -- Peter Gabriel
14. Always Look On the Bright Side of Life -- Eric Idle
15. We'll Meet Again -- Johnny Cash

It's A Great Day To Be Alive- Travis Tritt

It has two purposes: mocking death and the funeral establishment, and punishing anyone who was stupid enough to attend with country music.

Right at the end of the service
Hurt-Nine Inch Nails. The live version off 'Further Down the Spiral' not the 'And All that Could Have Been' version (yes I am a massive NIN nerd) Its technically about suicide but its a great mournful and emotional song, especially this live version.

Followed immediately by...
Old Friend-Rancid. A more upbeat punk song with just a trace of regret.

Either
The original version of Mad World by Tears for Fears, because Gary Jules' version is crap.
The music played during the ending credit sequence of the film Apocalypse Now, when they napalm the hell out of everything
Gary Numan's 'Bomber'
Motorhead's 'I Aint No Nice Guy After All'
Sunn O)))'s 'Bathory Erszebet' on the grounds that I like the idea of being dead and everyone around me stuck listening to 8 minutes of bloody miserable miserableness
Alternatively, Sunn O))) and Boris' 'Blood Swamp' played through a small mountain of amplifiers
The entire hour of Mike Oldfield's 'Amarok' just out of spite
Or Manowar's 'Bridge of Death' because it's hilarious.

Johnny cash version of 'Hurt'... Superior, especially for funerals, in my opinion.

The Doors, appropriately titled 'The End'.

Thats my dilemma, it is a superior cover (even Trent Reznor has admitted that) but I feel that having the Nine Inch Nails one would be more appropriate for me, being a fan and all. Maybe I could just have 'The Fragile' or 'Zero-Sum' instead.

Hmm, i have this Greatest Songs of Rock 'n Roll CD full of Rolling Stones, Foghat, Cream and so forth.

I would like that CD on a medium volume playing throughout the funeral and then just at the end, Bat Out of Hell goes on at a deafening volume while the guests stand up and run to the altar headbanging and/or singing along.

Nice to see some one mentioned Blind Melon. Browney points for them.

I got a few I would like to have played...
Linton Samuel Dawson - Porcupine Tree (More browney points going to anyone who's heard that track)
Life is too Short - Caliban
Abnegation - In Flames
Change (In The House Of Flies) - Deftones

I could mention pages of songs I would like to have played but I kinda feel like thats cheating
