I'm trying to quit but gaming (especially FPS) does bring out the need for the weed.

nothing says 'bend over' like sending that squeaker a screenshot of your middle finger and a glowing smoke.

Never smoked cigarettes but I'm tempted by pipes. I'm told they're barely cancerous if at all (source for support or disagreement would be appreciated) and, come on, pipes!

WRONG. And they stink to high heaven. Even cigarette smokers hold their noses around pipes.

I'm never going to smoke because I have better addictions to spend my money on, like World of Warcraft

I don't smoke since I think I'm unhealthy enough to begin with.

I know it's not the topic, but we used to smoke a lot of weed a year ago every week. We would hang out and play Call of Duty 2 on the Tunisia level and smoke a few joints. Used to just work in i Blockbuster back then, but quit when i started uni

Yeh...that's what breaks me during my giving up times, I've been off them for 6 months before, but that got to me.

I smoke heavily, despite having tried to give up on numerous occasions. Smoking just feel right (for me) when I'm playing certain games. Pondering my next move in Civilisation whilst puffing away just feels right for some reason. I'm not condoning it or promoting it in any way, mind. Horrible habit.

Nothing like a brand new game and a bag of weed. I find it's something to do while standing in Mass Effects bloody elevators.

I used to smoke fairly heavily, and I still would, if they hadn't jacked up the prices a few hundred times in the last few years. When I'm spending more on smokes than I am on gas, it's time to quit.

I've been on and off cigarettes for the past half a decade, and always find that I end up getting back on to the little bastard cancer sticks after witnessing the coolest character in the film/game of the year happily chain-smoking and getting all the women!

I used to be a big weed smoker (and i mean big, like everyday for 10 years, didn't help that my long term ex was too) but never smoked ciggy only joints however when quitting the weed about 18 months ago I used cigarettes as a crutch and now i'm stuck smoking them though i only smoke 4 or 5 a day, wish i had never started though and would love to quit but i'll hold my hands up and say i'm an addict (seriously don't start kids it's not worth it)

I smoke cigars and pipes. They're still carcinogenic, but since you don't inhale when you smoke them, your chances for lung cancer aren't as high. However, it opens you up to a wonderful host of different cancers: throat, tongue and so on. I doubt the rates are quite as high, since your mouth tends to heal a lot faster than your lungs, but I wouldn't recommend chain smoking.

They're both great for gaming and writing, though. They require just enough maintenance to keep your hands busy between respawns/paragraphs, and smoking seems to occupy the part of your brain that needs to interact with the outside world.

Also, cigars and pipe tobacco are just that - tobacco. They typically don't come with all of the wonderful chemical additives that are in most cigarettes.

You can't beat a good cigarette whilst gaming. Most of my friends who I LAN it up with on a regular basis don't smoke, but I do enjoy a fag whilst gaming at home. Makes victory all the more sweeter. After a 5 mile run one goes down well too. I'd rather smoke cigars though, theres something about them thats appealing. Proper cigars, not those little skinny ones you get, I want a big ol' fat Cuban. (I wish)

I was wondering if the Hannibal Smith avatar was focussing on the cigar. ;)

I don't smoke. I hate work and generally decide on the worth of purchases I make by how much slavery I had to do to acquire the money for it. To pay for a roof over my head seems logical, but I hate the idea of more hours of misery to support a habit. Having said that, if you offer me weed...I am up for it.

As with Yahtzee, If I needed to lose money, I'd drive over to the Lions Gate Bridge and drop it off. I'd also film it and put it on Youtube. And If I need to get mouth cancer, maybe I'll start liking the fiberglass containers at work.

When offered. Which is mainly at large gatherings, where the real party takes place with the smokers outside. This also means that the smells brought on by the smoke hardly linger, either; as they are easily outdone by the alcohol on everyone's breath or even the aura of aftershave.

Never smoked, but that's not really a matter of choice; I'm allergic to tobacco and tobacco smoke. That'd kill me long before cancer and emphysema would. I'm also allergic to dope and have weird reactions to pharmaceuticals.

Good thing I can still drink, or I'd be doomed to a life of chemical virtue.
