I smoke. I don't do it to look cool and I don't do it because I like the taste. They don't calm my nerves, they don't help me sleep, and they certainly don't improve my self-image.

I smoke because I am a filthy drug addict. I like to think of my habit as 'Suicide by increments'.
Don't start kids, they're realy bad for you.

I'm off for a smoke.

I used to be fairly bad, pack a day or more, and I stopped for health reasons. These days I'm a "casual" or "social" smoker - I'll head out with friends for one if that's the case, or occasionally I'll have one in a bar as a way to unwind and relax, but I'm nowhere near what I did before. I never smoked while gaming or in the midst of a session though.

The whole "cool looks" thing is just a positive side effect of smoking dude, everyone says that they don't do it to look cool.

I'm off for a smoke.

Cigars. All shapes and sizes. With a bourbon, water, and lemon. Great for when you have to put on the writer pants.

Smoking is just an expensive death, tell you what, just buy a gun and some ammo, same price but much quicker.

I love to smoke and play, and I love to smoke weed and drink beer as I play. But hell I love to drink and smoke when I'm not playing games so.....I've been smoking both cigs and weed for about 8 years now and the only problem I have with it is that my key board is like an ash tray. Turn it upside down and bits of ash, tobacco and weed fall out, that and deformed keys from hot rocks. Nothing takes the edge off a bad raid full of wipes, arguments, and a distinct lack of healing for the rogues then a spliff. And there's nothing quite like headshoting that bastard who killed you 8 times in a row and taking a swig of beer, lighting up a fag and laughing like an evil villain from a Bond movie.

I don't smoke and don't intend to. If I was to smoke, I would never let a cigarette touch my lips. They're the nicotine equivalent of sex with a cheap prostitute. Anyone can smoke a cigarette.

Now, cigars...Cigars are a different manner. Or maybe a pipe. Or a hookah, that would be sweet. Even chewing tobacco! It's like gum, right? Only addictive and with free cancer.

I do not smoke and have never tried it because i am afraid i will like it. I do not mind the smell it is actualy quite pleasing. Many of my friends smoke but do not try to introduce me i have always been the clean one. I am under 18 but that never stopped anyone. The most i do is casually drink and i never get tipsy even because all i usualy drink is beer and i only want say 3. I hate sweet stuff tastes cheap all the time.

Oh I don't know, Jim Beam special for 19.99 and some Piggly Wiggly lemon concentrate seems to be keeping it real enough.

I have a fairly addictive personality, and as such fear if I were to indulge in smoking, I'd end up a hopeless addict. I was one of them lost souls, who declared 'WoW can't be that addictive, it's just a game' - what a mistake.
I drink to excess, and hope that remains the only addiction I suffer with for now.

I do smoke, but I don't drink, which doesn't quite make up for it, but at least it's something.

Smoking just never did anything for me, if it did, I probably would. Although I am only 16. I like weed and alcohol though, but my friends don't really. Kind of pointless if you're not doing it with friends.

Same here. Pretty much everything about smoking makes me nauseous, plus I'd rather spend that money on games, plus the smoke is bad for electronics.

For the record, everyone I know is a gamer and...

Out of 10, 3 said they would smoke a cigar on a special occasion assuming someone else provides.

Though we're all pretty regular drinkers.

Too young to smoke, drink, or anything of the like. (14) The question I have is for people like
Jezz8me. HOW CAN YOU LIKE THE SMELL OF CIG SMOKE? It's absolutely disgusting. It's horrible for you too. Tobacco taxes should go sky-high. If people want to poison themselves, let the state of VA profit off of their idiocy. I can't stand to even be in the same room as a smoker. Ugh. Mind you, this could come from having an extremely anti-smoking family, but I think I'd hate the smell either way. Same goes for drugs, but they're worse. Never will do either. And I mean that.

Nothing, no smoking, alcohol or anything outward and in between. No particular reason, though I'm well over legal age. However, my dad does smoke, and once I was staying at his house for a while (parents divorced) and a lot of his stuff is covered in ash, bedsheets etc. Woke up feeling like something was crushing one of my lungs. So have a reason for staying away from tobacco at least.

As for the smokers themselves...well, I suppose I don't really care/mind, as long as they do so in an area where it's not going to affect someone who doesn't wish to inhale the same air or whatever. And thanks to smoking bans that's mostly taken care of. Though it's still quite unpleasant waking down the street and getting a puff of smoke in your face.

Wondering on gaming and smoking though, can the smoke damage a PC? Or any other piece of electronics for that matter?

It's even more unpleasant to get looked down upon worse than the needle-tracked people. Caffeine is as bad, believe me, but people worship at Starbucks.

We know we smell of death and ash. But giving up is harder than the Nintendites admitting SSBB isn't that good. :)

Not as much, but it definitely shuts down fans quicker, burns keyboards and upsets the pets.
Does keep wasps away though.

I realise it's a hard thing to give up, as I mentioned, my father does smoke, and has himself tried many times to, but only really succeeded in cutting back, and that regardless of a persons reasons for doing so, it's still quite obviously their choice to smoke.

The only issue I have with it, is in situations where another/other person is exposed without them necessarily wanting to be. Now, I do realise, a quick solution is if, don't like it? Walk away. But, it shouldn't be that you're gonna have to just not go anywhere where there are lots of people, many of whom smoke. Now, with the smoking bans, smokers are usually forced to move outside to smoke (of course some establishments do have areas/rooms for this) and can be seen as quite a negative thing from a smoker's perspective I would assume. I know I certainly would if I were heading out to be exposed to the elements when just generally trying to have a good time. ^^

And coffee, yccchh. Can't stand it. Though I'm rather fond of the smell...

The smoking ban in the UK has been the death knell for me going out at the weekend. I don't drink, and now I can't smoke in pubs, so I might as well just stay at home.

Completely agree and I always make a habit of not smoking around non-smokers and having a drink/wash before I go back to them because it reeks. (although when you're a smoker you can't smell it as much)
It does rile me though when the non-smokers complain about having to walk through the crowd of smokers to get to the pub. I mean, c'mon.

it's still quite obviously their choice to smoke.

I wish it was that simple. If I gave up tonight, I'd turn into an absolute beast and definitely get banned from here. Two weeks being ready to kill someone is a hard thing to master.
I know of people who still get the urge after 30 YEARS of stopping. It's a constant choice not to if you want to give up; and the first time something like a death in the family comes up; that little stick of joy is always welcoming you back.

Seriously, if anyone here is debating starting smoking for the first time. Don't. Really really don't.

I strongly disagree. What you're saying is that just because you don't like or agree with something, that something should be banned/restricted. Open up your mind a little, jeez. People are different, it's not like they don't know that it's bad for them, they do it because they like to do it and they think it's worth it. If you spend your entire life trying to extend your life, your life sucks. The only time when I can condone ANY type of tax on cigarettes is when there is free health care and people smoking is actually costing the government.

Also, when I went to quote you I accidentally reported you. Sorry about that mods.

It is always charming to have someone announce they have never done something and then regurgitate the mass media's carefully constructed opinion on it. You will never have any fun if you always act as you're told.

I don't touch the stuff. My lungs are shitty enough as it is with asthma that I don't need to shrivel them up any more. Coughing fits in the middle of a sparring session aren't my idea of fun.

My paternal grandmother was a smoker; she died of lung cancer when I was five. That kinda squashed any inclination I may have had towards the habit.

I do think smoking kinda looks cool, but it's not worth it for all the other problems it causes, and I absolutely loathe the smell of tobacco smoke. Besides, if I tried it, I'd probably end up as an incessant chain-smoker anyways, with the way I chew through gum, candy and other miscellaneous not-physically-addictive junk food whenever I get it, and that'd just compound the health and monetary problems the addiction would cause.

Hookah.

Favorite Flavors: {Double}Apple, Lime, Mango.

Although, I hardly do it, once a month because, at least every month there is some kind of special occasion.

Don't smoke tabbacky, but occasionally marijuana. I am in no way addicted to it, and, at the rate I'm going, will probably have smoked 7-8 times by the end of this year.

For some reason, the smell of tobacco reminds me of Amsterdam, where some of my family lives. A lot of them smoke and it leads to me having very positive feelings about it.
And by 'it', I mean the smell. I would never touch the nasty things.

Probably the main reason that I won't smoke when I become old enough to legally obtain cigarettes. Though, I'll admit, to me, it looks cool... yeh, I know it ain't good for me.

Edit:

GothmogII:

Being born and brought up, and currently residing in an Indian family, you have to like coffee, or you're dead. I haven't drunk the stuff for a while (uh, I heard that caffine stunts your growth, and well, I tried out the theory). Thing is, now, if I drink coffee, I go all hyper, and can't keep still. I hafta' pace... though, this just may be a psychological reaction.
