So apparently Gore Verbinski wasn't satisfied with leaving the ocean after the Pirates of the Carribean trilogy and wants to make a Bioshock movie. What do you guys think?

I can't find the original article I read that in, but here's some more about it if you're interested:

I just hope it looks as good as the game..I look forward to seeing the big daddy's..Also i would like it if they kept the same voice cast Andrew Ryan and atlas's voice is just to good to let someone else do it but most likely they wont.. for some reason turning video games into movies they like to change things up.I just hope it's not to much change.

Not sure how having a mute alcholic slave with super powers as a main character will work. And wasn't the main point of Bioshock the choice between killing or saving the little sisters. How would that work in a movie?

5 minute scene were he stands deciding weather or not to waste the girl.

"Hmm, do I wanna be evil? I get more superpowers..."

Oh wait he can't talk.

"..."

Then he slays her.

But what if he wants to get the Acheivment?

On a side note, who would like to see a videogame movie that has acheivments pop up when the main character does something cool?

He talks in the intro...

"My parents said I could do great things. They were right."

That would be after his brain-washing type thing had worn off, yknow telling the story years later?

Anyway, I can't imagine how it will be done, if you give the main character dialog it won't work. They'd have to overhaul the script somehow.

I don't think it'll be very good to be honest.

That's actually not as bad an idea as it sounds. I think the best way to make a game-related game movie would be to accept the fact that it will fail horribly. So instead of trying to stay serious it would mock itself for trying, and hopefully every other game movie that took itself too seriously as well ^^

There's a Max Payne movie coming out, as well. Featuring Mark Wahlburg.

Also, the Hitman movie went to DVD without much fuss, did anybody see it? By the lacklustre advertising after it hit theatres, I'm willing to assume it was garbage. Somebody let me know, please?

Ofcourse it isn't a bad idea, I did come up with it after all. The reason why many Video Game movies have failed so far is because they take themselves far to seriously. A serious videogame is what makes a good serious movie (The final Fantasies come to mind), games that are not serious (Doom and Bloodrayne come to mind) do not make good serious movies.

Directors and producers need to realise that games are usually centered around one of two things; Story Telling and fun. Usually any movie has number one down, all they need to do is get the fun part working and it might make a good movie.

They also need to realise that games are also centred around gameplay. The core aspect of the game, in fact. Then they need to realise that gameplay can never be translated to screen. Then they need to go and come up with their own bloody ideas.

Excellent point.
