As you probably noticed, we've launched the first revision of a dedicated video section for the site.

If you are having problems seeing the video, please try going through the first few steps on the Video Help Page first. If you're still having trouble after that, please post what OS, browser, and version of flash you have and we'll try taking a look. We've tried every OS/browser combo we have in our offices and everything has worked.

If you have suggestions for the video player, the video pages, or the video box on the front page ("change them back" gets you a forum timeout -- you've been warned!) please post them here too.

New Video Section

(we're still working on providing downloads - this is the first step towards that)

I like the general category list for the front of the videos section, the thumbnail view in the specific categories is nice too, but would look better with 24 video links as opposed to the twelve (just so they go as far down as the ads on the side).

I managed to get it to work in IE6 by clicking, then waiting for a few seconds.

The only problem I have with it is that it seems to be very slow, since, unlike the last player, it doesn't have any kind of "Now Loading" graphic. So, you think it's already loaded, then start wondering why it's taking so long.

It doesn't seem to work with Opera 9.50 beta. Works with Opera 9.24 just fine though.

I like the video section it saves you hunting through the site (or using the search bar)to find all of your favourite videos. Im also liking the new additions video-wise.
EDIT: Well the only thing is that it does seem a bit new-age and racey for me but i have it on fullscreen most of the time so i dont really notice anyway.

Very nice, very convenient. It works great in Firefox. I agree with Khell that it would be better if the thumbnails filled out the page instead of stopping halfway down. It'd also be nice if the menu bar at the bottom of each video dropped down faster, but now I'm nitpicking.

Love it. The only thing I see wrong is the video screen isn't as big as it used to be. Other then that it's pretty handy.

Upped it to 20 - trying to find a happy medium between too much scrolling/images and too few per page.

It seems to be starting pretty quickly for me, but I'm sure that varies by connection. A spinny loading thing in the actual view area would be good though.

The video is actually the exact same size (400x300). The player just isn't as tall, because it has the hiding menu, and it looks a bit smaller because of the tighter design of the page.

Great. No complaints as of yet.

I posted earlier that it should be easier to restart a video.

The popup menue for it also bugged me a bit, as mentioned above it makes the screen look smaller and generally feels unintuative. I would much rather have it sitting there permanently.

No, no, 20 is just fine. You added extra stuff below it so it fills out nicely. It just looked so EMPTY with ads running twice as far as content. The page gets my vote now.

Tried watching ZP unforgotten realms and De rez
IE 6 unfortunately (which i dont think i can change because this is at work) with the latest flash and i can get the initial picture eg. zero punctuation "click here to play " but after clicking its just black.
but if i cant view them at work lunch just got 10 times more boring and ill just wait till i get home.

the design however has a more professional view about it which is cool and i do like that there are more videos per page

The general quality of some of the videos seems to be lower than in the past. Not anything to really complain about, aside from that though.

I really liked it, It makes it look a whole lot neater. I love it, Now all we need are for the podcasts to eventually come and i'll be even more content.

I love the hidden menu and the ease of navigating the video selection screen. It is very good and I take my hat off to you, looking good keep up the good work.

I guess I like it, but I preferred the classic list look.

I could take or leave the video list/thumbnails, but the player flat refuses to work for me.

I'm using the latest version of Firefox with the latest Flash player and WinXP Pro with the latest updates.. and a 26.4k dial-up connection. The page loads everything but the player, which has an empty black box where I presume it should be, then stops.. just.. stops. The little blinky-lights telling me my modem is talking to people stop blinking.

Really? Way to pull out the eye tricks on me. I could swear it looks a bit smaller. Still, cool job. At least we don't have to go looking too far for more videos. Plus I still hate those ads on the end of the videos.

You guys sure are going bonkers on the video content but I must stress quality control. That kung Fu Grip thing just made me want to cry, no wait it DID make me cry and not tears of joy.

The drawn by pain thing BTW dose not work in such a small vid format IMO and I don't really understand why you guys are posting it when much better quality versions are on the official site.

I do love unforgotten Realms though even though I think the Vid player needs to be bigger for that as well.

If I click anything but the buttons when the video is playing then it goes back to the start, am I missing something?

I still get nothing. No buttons, no loading indicators, nothing. Just a big black box in the middle of the page and my connection going all quiet like there is NOTHING THERE to Download.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

Is your computer blocking it? A school computer would block the loading or make the place were the box should be empty.

No, I have no blocks whatsoever. Just straight from the phone line to the modem to my computer. It just loads all the rest of the page, then stops like it thinks there's nothing else there to download.

Watching videos on the old player was a pain on dial-up, but at least it was possible.

Could be a full internet cache? Firefox, Opera or Exploder?

As I said before, using the latest version of Firefox with the latest update of XP, I've already tried clearing cache. Tried it on IE7 as well and got no joy. The window just dosn't show anything, no buttons, no load indicators, just a blank black space.

Try downloading the latest version of Flash - http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer. Once it's installed, clear your cache, restart the browser, and try looking at the page. The player not loading at all points towards a problem with the plugin.

If you're still getting nothing after that, view the source of the page, copy/paste it into a text file, and email it to me at jsmith@themis-group.com and I'll see if I can figure anything out.

Other than some firewall/proxy problems (like Aliencrash had), which should be fixed, you're the only report I have of the player not even showing up.

Whenever you miss the pause button or volume button and click the video screen then it restarts the whole video and this can be EXTREMELY frustrating. It would make me a very happy person if you fixed that.

As stated before, I have the latest flash player as well.

Before on the old player there was the occasional problem with just the sound loading and not the video, the newegg 'related videos' splash loading in it's place. This was usually fixed with a refresh of the page. Again, I am on 26.4k dial-up.

Seeing what I can do about getting that page-source to you. The blank black box does have some Flash-y stuff in it, when I right-click I get the default command selection for a basic Flash image (zoom, quality, print, etc..) but no command selections for starting or stopping video playback.

Thanks for changing what happens when I click inside the playing video, never shall I scramble for the big red STOP button again :)
It happens sometimes when my connection is almost used to capacity (I live in a house with four other students) what after clicking the picture to begin playing, nothing comes up, and I have to reload and try again a few times for it to work. So a bit of a progress indicator would be nice (or a Retry-button) (although I haven't seen yet if you've done something about this since the last update).

The ads - well, can't be helped I suppose, but could you signal that what's coming doesn't belong to the video? I thought Yahtzee had added a rather unexpectedly tasteless clip at the end of his video ("young people f---ing," was it?) unless I saw it at the end of another vid as well.

Despite my nitpicks I do think it's quite an improvement :)
