Gone Gonzo Posts: 1059 Joined: 25 Feb 2008 | Erm, you wank with your right hand? The human body isn't symetrical, so it's probably just random chance. Or that you can see different blood vessels in each arm. Question! What does muscle mass have to with when your veins start to show? |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 622 Joined: 8 May 2008 | I've started working out again(for the summer)and my veins have always shown, even when i wasn't as muscly as i am now, the capillaries(i'm sure they're those)along my forearm are scarily visible, when i do wrist curls i'm sometimes afraid they may pop out. But on topic, same here, my veins are different on both arms, my left forearm(my wanking hand)has veins all over but my right hand has next to none. |

There could be a doctor on these forums? Anyways, I guess what I should have said was my BMI or whatever you want to say. Less fat vs more muscle per pound. IE Ripped. |

Probably the same thing a question about working out has to do with a video game forum. |
Beat Writer Posts: 209 Joined: 16 Jun 2008 | Isn't there enough blood vessels in the human body to stretch to the moon and back, or something crazy like that ? I'm sure you're seeing a tiny percentage of the possible blood vessels... and yeah, like everyone said, symmetry in physical characteristics is practically impossible (even on faces and other places you'd "expect" to see it.) Long story short... why are you even thinking about such a thing? Get back to the gym you slacker. |

But then again, this is the off topic forum:p lol |

bmi is a joke and totally wrong, it doesn't take a lot of things into account. due to my bone structure to be at the perfect bmi, i'd have to be anorexic it's easier to check how much fat you have rather than going by bmi, cause you could have a ton of muscle and be "obese" according to your bmi |

That was the issue with Wii Fit when it was released, people were saying BMI wasn't an accurate way of measuring weight(i'm not even completely sure myself what BMI is truely meant to measure tbh). |

Yeah, according to my BMI I'm obese(which I'm not) and I remember seeing a "Penn and Teller: bullshit" about that, it was interesting. Anyway: So, in summary: Because you are a human, you will die. Have a nice day.(I don't know what that had to do with the topic either...)Also, I believe all blood transference tubes generate randomly in the fetal stage. So, of course they will all be screwy and different. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 514 Joined: 23 May 2008 | Yeah I like how BMI doesn't work at one point in my life I was 120 lbs and 5'9", and I was only considered to be average or some crap to that effect. Now I don't know about you but I'm pretty sure that 120 lbs at 5'9" is a fairly dangerous weight to be at, especially if you are participating in hard physical labor every day, I could hear my hip grinding when I sat on some surfaces, that is an unnerving sound by the way. However I am glad that I'm 5'9" and probably 220 now, sure it's overweight, but I'd rather be fat and happy than thin and hearing my body parts grind, especially when there isn't a girl involved. |

it is body mass index, created in the 1800's, it's a way to determine if you are too fat based on your height http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Body_mass_index it fails to take into account things such as bone structure, bone density, amount of body fat and body type. i'm pretty sure it's based totally on an ectomorph body type rather than the better mesomorph which is in the middle of the 3 types of bodys and yes Penn & Teller did an episode of bullshit on this |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 622 Joined: 8 May 2008 | Surprisingly i've never actually weighted myself or know how tall i am, i've just never been bothered to find out lol. I know i more than likely have more muscle than fat, i eat healthily and i work out regularly and i don't have any illnesses so i would say i don't really need to find out my weight or height anytime soon. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 511 Joined: 8 May 2008 | I eat like a slob and lounge around all day, but I'm built like a weightlifter and have the body of a Spartan god (MST3k quote in da house!). Perfection is a talent I've developed over the years. About the veins, the first response has it right, the body is not symmetrical. however, to help reach the same state of perfection as me, you could always cut open your wrists and re-arrange your veins accordingly. You can even adjust the length by stretching and cutting + stapling the veins themselves. You can trust me, I have a PHD in Baddass. |

It is in the off topic part, so it doesn't need to have anything to do with video games. |

Yeh, if this was in the Gaming section, it would be considered off-topic, but because it was in Off-topic, it 's alright. As for the actual question, I am a stick, and my veins show, you it's not really whether you're buff or not. As people said before, it's probably just a human reaction. |

Heh, I guess that explains why I have a huge pus balloon blister - turned black callous on my right small toe, but no blister at all on my left. I've been wondering about that for some time. |

I'm sure this isn't the best place to look for hardcore exercise freaks, unless I'm being assumptive lol. Something I have been noticing the more I've been working out and I haven't a clue where to begin looking for the answer, so I have come here. If someone has studied this field and has an answer it would be much appreciated. Random theories will do nicely as well.
So, I have been lifting and interval training (I'm a sprinter) for a few years, and finally my muscle mass has increased to the point where veins are forcing their way out of my arms and shoulders. But I've noticed something. If I lay both of my arms flat and look at the layout of the blood vessels, the ones on my left arm are completely different than the ones on my right.
The ones in my right forwarm seem inefficient, waving left and right about an inch. The ones in my left are straight, direct paths to my wrists. So, does anyone have an explanation? I haven't broken or injured my arms before, and they are of equal strength.
