JACK'S MANNEQUIN was the most amazing concert of my life. He was like 1000x better live, which is hardly possible because his cd is the most amazing thing ever. Plus I crowdsurfed. Muahaha.

I got to see Flogging Molly in concert, a few times actually, and they where amazing. Though it could be that I have a thing for the Irish. They were big on throwing stuff out into the crowd, guitar picks, shirts and drum sticks. I manged to get me a pick. It was fun and I would gladly go see them again.

The Most Serene Republic is much better live. (Proposition 61 is WAY better live)
Stars is terrific live.
Lotus Child is far better live.
The White Stripes are pretty damn good live.
Metric is great live.

I'm glad I'm not the only indie-rock fan on here, though I've never heard of Lotus Child.

I've heard Muse are excellent live, and they're one of my favourites

By the way, what's the word on Nickelback live? I have tickets for them in September, any good?

Disturbed Sounds Like God Live, Iron Maiden just blows my mind live, and I don't care what anyone else says but Dragonforce is epic live.

3 Inches of Blood live was intense. Recently saw Children of Bodom playing with In Flames and Megadeth, and that was very awesome. Dragonforce is going to be near me pretty soon, which I was pretty excited about, but from what I hear they are shit live.

Can't wait to see RATM live at Reading, apparently the best live band ever.

We Are Scientists, Kaiser Chiefs and the Little Ones are very good live too. Be Your Own Pet have a rep. for being awesomely energetic live, but when I went to see them I was disappointed...was a Sunday though

They Might Be Giants are amazing live. They have such a huge repertoire to select and they always mix it up and do fun things with each song. Yay for showmanship!!

Disturbed, Three Days Grace, and Muse sound good live. If you EVER go and see Dragonforce live, your ears will tear themselves off and your brain will explode due to the excessive amount of suck coming from the amps.

Appreciate the feedback, but I don't care! I started getting into them not long after they split, thought I'd never get to see them, and now they're back! I want to hear all their most awesome songs, even if you practically know beforehand which ones they'll play.

Saw Black Stone Cherry, Whitesnake & Def Leppard tonight.

BSC were great, Whitesnake were ok, just didn't seem to be on form (although the whitesnake fans were saying DL would have to work to beat that).

Def Leppard Smoked Whitesnake with one song, The rush was amazing and didn't stop until well after the gig was over, 3 songs off the new album, plenty of classics, Def Leppard RULE live.

AC/DC, ZZ Top and Deep Purple are my picks. I went to see each of these bands when they came to Melbourne, and they were amazing, new bands should really learn something from these legends.

U2 are awesome live.
Kanye West, who was the warm up act for U2 when they were touring, is ok. But it took him 3 songs to realise that the mosh pit/arena floor was filled with people at least in their mid-40s.
Actually he got real worked up about it...

Tool, Disturbed, Theory of A Dead Man were all really good live. Clutch wasn't so great, although that might have been because it was a small venue. Audioslave was pretty shitty live.

Missed the Black Keys every singl time they were here. I bought the ticket for their october show already so this won't happen again.

As for the whole "live exactly like the album" thing. I don't need to go to a concert to hear a band's album. Queens Of The Stone Age always try to play their songs different on every gig. It's so much more intense to hear a song you've heard a thousand times on CD being played in a new way. Muse did the same thing 2007. A lot of great impro. Way better than the year before. I expect this kind of variety from a band.

Ooh! I can conclude then that you've heard of The Most Serene Republic. I love singing along to the nonsensical lyrics... Do you listen to CBC Radio 3?

Pink Floyd - (or rather Roger Waters and co) is excellent live, saw them last year.
Alan Parsons Project - really surprised me by sounding so good live, they manage to really insert some extra flavour into live performances, only heard recordings of it though.
Presidents of the USA - great fun live.

Dutch:
Kayak - sound almost exactly like their albums live, but there's some extra interplay between the musicians that definately adds flavour.
A Day's Work - little band that needs to break through, magnificent voice the lead's got.

IN ORDER OF AWESOME

Godsmack - not one of my favorite bands but do amazzzzaazzzing live
Family Force Five - Yeah, they are delciously amazing
Tool - they sound almost the same. i love them
Trapt - They are good. saved the best songs for last, kept the whole thing alive
Seether - Some of the best moshpits i've been in were at that show
Shinedown - hate their music, but got especially involved with the crowd

Modest Mouse I have not seen live, but i've seen videos and they play their new songs as if it was their old songs which is awesome and they change up the way they play so as if the song is a new experience

Dream Theater and Symphony X are amazing live. Both manage to (especially in terms of singing) sound as great as thier studio albums sound. And Dream Theater played an entire album live last year, among other hits...can't argue with that.

I really hope i get to see Jorn Lande this year, should be amazing too.

Dethklok is going to be playing nearby next week-- I'm almost interested enough to go. From what I've read, their live shows are amazing.

I've seen a lot but ones that are significantly better that I've seen is...

Also, "Stage Presence" is a big thing for me, I don't like the band "GWAR" and at first it seemed like a "gimmick" to me, but holy crap are their shows fun. Youtube one or something, it's amazing - I mean, how many shows can you say you've been to, where you can say that "and then the band took JERRY SPRINGER, and threw him into a giant cthulu Larvae's mouth! Yes, the REAL Jerry Springer into a FAKE Giant Mutant Larvae.." (EDIT: Oh, I didn't attend that show btw, I just needed a good example, but I just realized that I made it sound like I was there, which I wasn't.}

So if "Stage Presence" counts, I can think of a lot of other bands too.

Oh yeah, and Opeth sounds better live too.

GenHellspawn:
KMFDM is pretty awesome in concert, although I've only been to one of their more recent concerts.

I envy you...A LOT! I've been dying to see them but I don't even know if they will ever come to Dallas.

Frosk:
Nine Inch Nails - Highly cheorographed mayhem (at least the last few tours)

Tool - Visually amazing to go along with the high standard of audio that they set for themselves

Ramms+ein - As a poster earlier said "Fire"

Mushroom Head - For a small, and I mean small, venue, they did really well. Sound was good and had good interaction with the fans.

Bands I've seen in Festivals that didn't have they own visuals, but had good sound (for a festival):

Pantera (granted they didn't use visuals at all)

I also envy you for NiN, Tool, and especially Rammstein since they broke up, but I'm surprised you aren't telling us to go see tool "under the influence" - I'm not saying every tool fan is on drugs or anything but the tool fans not giving out the whole "It's awesome when you are fucked up, I saw the lazers and was like 'woah' " speech is a bit annoying since they don't give details about the show, and more about their trip - and the people I have met who aren't giving out that little detailed speech are the minority, so sadly, I hardly ever get details about a Tool concert.

-and, when you say Pantera and "visuals" do you mean their "technical" visuals or their "stage performance" visuals? Pantera likes to dick around a lot. (or I guess "liked" ;_; )
