I'm also really into oldies*. Bands/artists that are currently on my mp3 player: *True story: I was born in '85. I did not know of ANY music made after 1975 until I was 8 years old. Paperboy Posts: 22 Joined: 29 Jun 2008 | I don't like one specific genre of music, but I absolutely can't stand country or rap. Some of my favorite bands are: Reel Big Fish, Against Me!, Daft Punk, Green Day (their old stuff is way better), Gogol Bordello, and Weezer. Really, i'll listen to anything that keeps me interested. EDIT: oh god, how could I forget Johnny Cash?! I love the Man In Black. :D |
Copy Clerk Posts: 91 Joined: 10 Apr 2008 | Several rock sub-genres, including math, alternative and punk. To name a few favourite artists: Pavement, Incubus, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, OK Go, 65daysofstatic and Arctic Monkeys. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 1030 Joined: 6 Mar 2008 | I love most hard rock (not too keen on punk, though) - I've never really grasped all the sub-genres, but I think I specifically like metal, classic rock, um, sludge-metal, I think, and groove metal...? I dunno, you can figure that out from my fave bands: Rob Zombie, Godsmack, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Clutch, Pantera, Black Label Society, Audioslave, Tool, Down, Corrosion of Conformity, System of a Down I also like, I guess you could call it symphonic music, like not classical exactly, but like game and movie soundtrack type-stuff. Like some examples would be the soundtrack to Road to Perdition or Cold Mountain. And also Gaelic music, like Loreena McKennit. |
Muckraker Posts: 284 Joined: 5 Feb 2008 | Wasn't there another thread like this? Either way, I enjoy Metal the most with Thrash, Power, and Black as my preferred subgenres. Classical music follows and then Indie and everything else is a mish-mash of what I deem as good ranging from the completely esoteric to Duran Duran. |

Well, yea, alot of bands cant perform live as well as they do in a studio, that makes them a bad band according to me, cause i have my standard when it comes to music higher then most people, but the bands i've liked and seen live have been very very close to studio sound, no slip ups or wrong keys or anything, and that according to me makes a good band, that not only can record an album, but also play their music live |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 619 Joined: 8 May 2008 | Rock, metal, punk rock, punk metal(if there's such a thing lol), thrash metal, any metal really and I like movie and game soundtracks for some odd reason. Hate c/rap and hip hop, only thing I like them for is dancing to in clubs cause I have to admit that metal isn't exactly the greatest thing to dance to, also gives me a chance to move in on the ladies;) |
Copy Clerk Posts: 54 Joined: 18 Jun 2008 | It's all rock and metal for me. I generally listen to all sub-categories; Heavy metal, thrash metal, power metal, hard rock, speed metal, melodic metal, black metal, folk metal... I don't listen to death metal, alternate metal and metalcore as I find that strange and ridiculous. |

Infamous Scribbler Posts: 548 Joined: 24 Oct 2007 | Has anyone ever listened to the soundtrack for The Last Temptation of Christ? WOW!! It was composed by Peter Gabriel and it just BLEW ME AWAY. Anyway, on topic, I've been listening to a lot of German Krautrock lately (you know, Can, Neu!, Faust, Cluster, etc.); but the kind of music I like listening to the most comes from bands straight out of the post-punk/ new wave movement from the mid- late 70's to mid 80's; like: Some old School Electro too: Some spanish Rock too like: |

Several times.
Dragonforce suck live not because they have a bad soundguy but because they cant play that fast. Its not the quality of the sound, background noise, fuzz or hum its the fact that they cant play the songs at the same speed as their CD live.
I would also like to add that I like country. I dont know many bands but I play in a country band and its great hah!
