No matter how many brilliant innovations or gameplay improvements they add to Call of Duty: World at War, every reviewer in the known universe will complain endlessly about it being a WWII game, and therefore it will not sell as well as if it was a modern setting.

I also call that as soon as they come out with a game that has a brilliantly written, completely believable character who attains the status of "badass" through possible means, the Halo fans will flood the online modes and bitch endlessly about how much more fun Halo 3 is and how gay this (hypothetical) game is.

(EDIT) I also call that when Spore comes out, everyone will bitch about how much higher their expectations were and how disappointed they are, regardless of how good the game actually is. I will go so far as to predict that even I will feel this way, but unless the game is genuinely not fun I'll keep playing it until I forget all the pre-launch hype, and then wonder why I didn't appreciate the game fully when I first played it.

I also call that sooner or later someone wll be sued for his douchebaggery over Xbox Live, and he will deserve it.

I also call that if Namco doesn't put Darth Vader on Xbox Live for Soulcalibur IV, I will end up buying the game again when I get a PS3, even though the only difference between the two versions is the Vader/Yoda one. Yes, playing as Darth Vader really means that much to me.

Let me give you a rundown - incredible nerdiness saves the day, Human beings are evil and cause our own problems, "Reverse the polarity" and other gibberish, awkward sexual tension (which is difficult since his companion has a face that looks like a pair of leather pants), the "it was all a big misunderstanding, no-one here is evil at all, everyone lives, sunshine and rainbows" episode, and of course the bringing back of an old enemy as fan service.

Don't get me wrong though, I love this show to death - its like crack to me. But the basic forumula doesn't change much. Maybe a new writer will fix that.

My favourite episodes of it are my favourite because they mess around with it - stuff like The Satan Pit, The Sound of Drums and Dalek.

I also call that no mtter how much any given celebrity remains exactly the same (Jack Black, for example) they will randomly lose fans that are made at them for selling out, and randomly gain new fans who "love the new [movies/books/games], but hate the old ones".

(EDIT) This applies double, triple, quadruple, and quintuple to video games, especially long running series like Final Fantasy, series that broke ground like Diablo, and series that started with an overwhelmingly popular game, like Portal. I also call that every sequel to every popular game will be met with a unified front of either scorn or disappointment, no matter what the developers do, with people claiming that the developers "lost sight of what made the first popular". For example, no matter what Portal 2 is like, half of us will hate it because they remember the first as being better. The other half will focus on the new features, overlooking the (possible) drop in humour in favour of more puzzles and greater variety. I also call that Portal 2 will either be vastly superior to the original in every way, or basically the same thing with new dialogue, new puzzles, and maybe multiplayer. Which is win-win, really.
