The darkness. With an excellent cast, an unlimited budget, and a long-time fan of the comic so as to keep the script sound and strong without completely butchering it.

A Warhammer 40K movie would be the shit! Space Marines and huge numbers of Guardsmen.

Armed and Dangerous was a really funny game, I want to see more of those cutscenes. It would make a really good animated movie, or series.

That game had so much potential, but I agree, if the movie was done right it would make an awesome comic/game movie.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

I'm seriously surprised that no one actually mentioned this yet. Not only does it have a great imposing title, but what have you here. You got mad treasure hunter Russians and Ukrainians in a hell hole version of Chernobyl eventually discovering its darkest secrets and plenty of bloodsucker horror encounters to go with it.

Also, seeing a Zone Blowout (radiation storm) on the big screen will be the most amazing thing ever.

There already has been a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. film. A Russian film from 1979 called, funnily enough, Stalker.

I'm one of the many that only has to mutter "Uwe Boll" or "Resident Evil" or "Silent Hill" or "Bloodrayne" or "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Seige Tale" or "Uwe Boll's Tetris Crysis" or "FarCry" or "Doom" to give enough evidence that game to film adaptions are most likely going to fail. In these cases, though, the staff behind said films have been completely ass-backwards whilst doing their jobs. Uwe Boll in particular.
I would ask for some permit from the Escapist to allow me to start a new thread dedicated solely to flinging a lot of expletives in Uwe Boll's direction. But that would be pointless.
I bought HotD before I even knew who Uwe Boll was and before I had any notion of criticism. It was still unruly awful at the time. I rented AitD, still having no idea who Uwe Boll was and still having no notions of criticism. That was awful. Now looking into the shameful activities of Uwe Boll, I decided to watch both HotD and AitD.
I can safely say I'd rather watch the video involving hatchets again.
This is just a taste of how much I despise Uwe Boll.

I think if WoW ever fully died, I think they should make the last of it a movie.

They wouldn't make it a WoW movie directly, though. They'd make it a Warcraft movie in general. It might be a good movie, as long as they stick with the original story and keep the style of graphics (so long as they up the ante a little bit, though).

But honestly, I've always wanted to see a movie of Final Fantasy XI. Possibly during the war that precedes the game. This was a lot more relevent before the expansion came out, but it would still be awesome to see just how it all went down.

Speaking of Uwe Boll, again, did you know that the swine has actually asked permission to make a WoW movie? Want to know the response he got?

"We will not sell the movie rights, not to you... Especially not to you."

i was quite surprised at resident evil 3, a lot better than i thought it would be (that could just be my bias to any film with milla jovovich in it being awesome)

MGS as far as im aware is being made into a film.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R - yes i know its already a film based around the same thing, but wow, the original stalker is heavy (very hard to watch). But an action/thriller based around the stalker game would be great

Monkey island - would just rock (jim carrey = stan)

More or less any other Tim Schafer game (full throttle, day of the tentacle, Psychonauts)

sam and max Would make a great film, need to be CGI however

Bloody roar - not so much a film, but would make a great anime.

I would like to see a half life movie, but not sure how good it would be. What would be kind of cool is if it was all from 1st person perspective and CGI - so basically a big long ingame cutscene. I'd hapily watch 2 hours of that

Yeah, I watched that. Deep stuff, but STALKER as an actual thriller/action movie would be the shit. :D

Basically, I think game to movie transitions so far have seriously sucked because they have focused on games where they NEED to add plot in order to make a lengthy enough script that can actually be filmed, and these additions just break everything apart. Most games (especially FPS and RTS) don't even have a plot that can't be sumarized in one paragraph. That is not a good starting off point, especially since, as has been said, movies are a rather passive experience. I would nominate adventure games (monkey island, gabriel knight, grim fandango, longest journey, etc) as infinately more suitable material to make a movie of. Then again, a lot of people here probably don't play them or are unaware of their existance to consider them of having enough substance to take them to the mainstream.

I totally second a The Darkness movie, thatd be sick. I would say Mass Effect, but first of all Mass Effect really is like its own movie, and second of all Mass Effect's story is way to epic to fit into a movie. That is, without critics jumping down its throat for not having enough backstory or somehting like that.

World In Conflict could be a cool story about America getting invaded by Russia during the Cold War, but I think that movies alreayd been made (Red Dawn), though a WiC movie could offer a broader view of it.

A Silent Hunter-related movie (as in, US sub commanders during WW2), but it would probably get too boring.

Super Mario World, with Ken Davitian as Mario, Tom Selleck as Luigi and Christina Ricci as Peach. Who wouldn't pay to see that?

I'd like to see a Metal gear solid movie only if David Hayter is cast as solid snake, either live action wise or voice over wise, i mean the man looks like an unshaven solid snake and he should get the part. I feel obligated to point out the famous IGN teaser trailer for Legend of Zelda which turned out to be a very expensive April fools joke. I actually enjoyed the trailer and thought it was a good premise for a movie. Another thing about video game movies is in the form of a question. If murder is against the law why isn't Uwe Boll (funny fact: his name in Russian means Low Price) not in jail for killing, raping and over all genocide of a ton of popular Games? have you noticed that immediately after Bloodrayne came out the games just...stopped, and even the PSP deal it had fell through. Now i hear the fucker somehow got his blood stained hands on the Legacy of Kain license. dear god if that is true, i will just give up my freedom and rip the man's dick off, shove it down his fucking throat, break his spine, and shove his head up his own ass. I want to see a Legacy of Kain movie but not by that man. Next movie i want to see is Xenosaga, yes the game series didn't do all that well, but the story actually lent itself to be a 6 film series like star wars and i believe it would have done infinitely better. You notice im stereotypically leaving out Halo and Bioshock from my mentions but I don't believe those games lend themselves to movies. Maybe Bioshock would if i could bloody well get it to run on this piece of shit computer. Halo i believe isn't the god of games and it should be seen for what it truly is, dull. I own all 3 halos and i bought them to get my FPS fix but then i picked up F.E.A.R. and i was amazed by the scare factor. Halo hasn't really changed and it should be just seen for what it is, mediocre. Onimusha is a Movie i also want to see, but then again, who doesn't want to see the Japanese Samurai version of Resident evil? Fatal Frame is also a movie i think would do well but then again, shutter had a similar premise and it sucked ass. And last but not least, a new Evil dead movie...i know it started as a movie but then its only been continued by 3 video games and bruce campbell is a fucking sex god!
