Gone Gonzo Posts: 1828 Joined: 14 Nov 2007 | That was an incredibly sweet trailer. I know I should be aghast at the thought of a Watchmen movie, but that did send my inner geek squealing with joy. EDIT I particularly loved the way Ozymandias laid the smack down on his would-be assassin. A fantastic moment from the comic brought fantastically to life. |

Dr. Manhattan looks good, even when he's being torn apart. Trying to keep the hype in check, though. Don't want to be disappointed, even though I am going to see it the moment it comes out. Fingers crossed that it manages to be even half as good as the novel. |

I agree on the Rorscarch mask. Personally i thought Night Owl looked about right too. |
Paperboy Posts: 27 Joined: 8 Jul 2008 | Yes! Actually, I just picked up Watchmen from the library and am reading it for the first time. I didn't know they were making it into a movie... cool coincidence, I guess. I just hope they don't ruin it - it has so much potential. Darn, I can't stream video on this connection. Does anybody know for sure if this trailer is playing with the Dark Knight? |

Yes it is. It has a little more, I believe though. Just some pictures from the novel, if I'm not mistaken, so nothing too terribly important. |

Paperboy Posts: 15 Joined: 9 Jul 2008 | I'm excited and scared. The trailer looked good, but trailers are supposed to. I suppose what scares me the most is that a 12 issue story can't be turned into a theatrical release without condensing or simplifying. A 12 hour miniseries would have been a better bet. First, that would give the director more time to develop all the elements of the story. Second, an episodic format would give a chance to work in the extra material at the end of each issue (Under The Hood and such.) Bottom line - I'm going to see the movie anyway and I'll try as well as I can to judge it as it's own entity. Even if the movie's a complete pile of dung, I still have my Watchmen comics and no movie producer can take them away from me. ...and my Comedian button that I got when Watchmen was new. I can proudly wear it to say, "I was there! I saw them first!" If you would have asked me 20 years ago if I could have gotten any cool and/or snob points off of Watchmen, I would have laughed. |

That's where you're wrong, my friend. You see, when you go to see it, the director and producer are going to go send agents to your home to find any Watchmen memorabilia you have and they are going to steal it. MARK MY WORDS, STOLEN WATCHMEN GOODS! |

Seriously, just get out of my sight. And to think you believe yourself the rightful President of The Escapist. |

See, this is why I'm not running. That, and well all know that in every nation, except of the US of course, the Prime Minister is more powerful then the President. Wait a minute... Anyways, I'm in the same boat as PurpleRain; it looks like an awesome movie, but I've never read the graphic novels. Still, I'll definitely try and see the movie. |

NO. Go and read the comic NOW, before you ruin a real masterpiece for what will, no matter the faithfulness of the adaptation, never compare. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 3934 Joined: 24 Apr 2008 | Oh, this is looking nice. Guide to those who have read the 'comic': See it as something entirely separate from the novel, a new story with your favorite characters, and realize it does not affect your beloved (and mine) graphic novel in the slightest. We will always have those wonderful pages, the movie is just icing on the cake, so we can enjoy it no matter what it differs in. |

Beat Writer Posts: 216 Joined: 25 Mar 2008 | Well I honestly believe the movie is going to try to push all the political stuff way too much so the trailer doesn't excite me BUT anyone know what that song is that they use for most of the trailer? I have watched the trailer 4 times now just to listen to it. |
