Well I honestly believe the movie is going to try to push all the political stuff way too much so the trailer doesn't excite me BUT anyone know what that song is that they use for most of the trailer? I have watched the trailer 4 times now just to listen to it.

Thank you. Though a part of me just died inside for liking a song by a group that I ran from scremaing for my entire life.

You really don't want to hear it came from the "Batman and Robin" soundtrack then? :)

I'm ambivalent. On one hand, the trailer is pretty crappy. On the other hand, nearly every scene in the trailer is a near-perfect shot from the comic. (Sin City, anyone?) As a fan, I react to the blinding awesomeness of Doctor Manhattan, the Comedian, Rorschach, etc. being recreated so faithfully with a nerdgasm. (Rorschach's "face" had authentic moving blotches... Did you notice?)

On the other hand, I've always felt, deep down, that no movie can ever do Watchmen justice. It's like asking McDonalds to package a five-star, seven-course meal in a Happy Meal.

Did I mention Watchmen is the best graphic novel ever? Thought so the first time I read it, still think so today.

Great, yes. Best? Uhhh.

I really don't know. Maus might just pip it there. And "V for Vendetta" as well, though that's a Moore.

I really couldn't call on what the 'best' was.

Just read the comic in order to maintain the legitimacy of my campaign and because it's about time I earned the right to call myself a nerd. I must say, I'm really impressed by how much they're sticking to the books. Each clip in the trailer I found was basically taken straight out of the book. Ozymandius' costume looks a bit off but everything else is really nice. I really hope they're able to somehow include that subcomic about the man fighting the pirates. Really was a bigger part of the book than I figured something like that would be.

It's not going into the movie. All of it is going on a straight-to-dvd animated feature.

Mmm... Maus is one of the best things I have ever read, be it a graphic novel or no. And Batman: Year One is superb as well (even better than TDKR in my opinion, much as I love it). Ach, such a good medium, full of so many gems.

Lots of people prefer Batman: Year One to TDKR.

Indeed. It's just that the popular opinion (go on any website dealing in comics) is that TDKR is the best thing to ever happen to Batman.

watchmen is the single most defening book from the 80's and still resadates today. It changed comics forever. the movie has alot to live up too

I never really felt pressed about Superhero movies as I have never been in to DC or Marvel all that much. Then both The Dark Knight and Watchmen are announced and I simply must see them.

Admittedly though, Gene-O could be right. Took me a good few hours to get through the dialogue filled book and if a crucial piece or nice quip from Rorschach like about the Graffiti of the man and woman's shadows, it could wain on the result for those who read the book.

TDKR vs Year One? Tough call for me to be honest. I love them both. I don't know if anyone has seen the new Punisher trailer, but there's a bit from it that almost seems like a direct lift from Y1... I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't read the comic, but if you have, and you've seen the trailer, you probably know which bit i mean...

Who's betting there'll be a 'graphic novel of the movie' about 60 pages long for $25?

*cynicism*

Its based off a comic book you ignorant twerp.

I'm glad Ozymandias has a slightly less retarded costume.

And Finally:
No. Not even in the face of Armageddon. Never compromise.

But, twerpmaster, they often released a toned down version of the TPB after the film to coincide with the movie's popularity (and to sift more money from the die-hards)

Too much Slo-Mo in the trailer, not promising.

its a superhero movie, don't take the trailer as an indication of the finished product... but god does it look juicy.

It's from the same guy who did 300. I would have expected the entire movie aside from a few talking scenes to be in slomo.

I just watched the trailer. The bastards swiped the best scene from Y1!!! As for the film, it gets a 'meh' from me. Dialogue looks terrible, action looks stitled... a Watchmen rival it is not, methinks.

And how many of their movies are Marvel whoring out now?? At least DC have some kind of self-restraint.

Its Alan Moore, the die-hard fans will only go see the film to disrupt the screening in accordance with his narcisisstic wishes.

(Yes I do not remember how to spell Narcisissim)
