I don't really have a favorite character, I like all of them [except Sadako and Hanyu] for some trait, I just relate to Rena the best. |

I like the one second to the right. Then again the motion of the picture guides ones eyes to the girl [focal point] which always get me; I like stars. I find it unsettling if some kind of graphical representation of oneself is misleading, like a guy with a girl's avatar. |

You mean you like cleavers and have a tendency to declare things cute and take them home? Also, how can you not like Hanyuu?. That's like blasphemy. (Literally, in fact). |

It's all in the name ending in -a, I think. I would think that most people prefer to have an avatar that--gasp of alarm!--represents themselves in some way. Break yourself down into a few nouns and adjectives; mine might be (genius, awesome, man, shameless egoist). I chose the Demi-fiend as my avatar because he more or less embodies those concepts (or at least most of them) in that he, in his game, is basically the only person in the world with the power to matter, to make things happen according to his will, and nobody is qualified to even begin to say he is wrong. Kind of an appealing image, to me. Also, you gotta love the tats. So females for whom 'woman' is an important descriptor will probably choose a feminine (though not always female) image to represent themselves. And for those who 'woman' isn't that important, but who do consider feminine traits central to themselves, a feminine (though not always female) image is still likely to be a more appropriate (and apt) choice. Like it or not, everybody judges on appearance (blind people notwithstanding--they judge on sound, of course. Unless they're also deaf. You get the idea). And when you can't see the person themselves, you judge based on the appearance they bring to the table to represent themselves. (And, when they don't have any appearance, such as on boards that don't allow avatar images, you look to their name for a first impression.) So you may as well represent something you consider to be related to yourself, yes? |

Reaperman owes you his life. Had you not enlightened him, his ignorance would have gotten him killed. Bob Ross' next painting would have been titled "Death of an UnAmerican." It'd be very violent. |

True. So I guess we should have a thread about guy gamers with avatars... and another one for non-gamer girls with avatars... and for gay guys with avatars, gay girls with avatars, straight guys with avatars... |

And get myself banned? Ahhh, I see through your ingenius and intricate plot to rid me from this site. |
Gone Gonzo Posts: 2914 Joined: 4 May 2008 | I always file the memory of the user under their avatar as well as their name, so I think of someone with a female avatar as being a girl. Because of that, it throws me off when someone with a female avatar turns out to be a guy. |
Paperboy Posts: 25 Joined: 17 Jul 2008 | I (male) find that in long term RPG's my chars tend to be female. If I'm going to spend X-amount of hours looking at a toon, females are more pleasing on the eyes. As for Forums, I just go for style and laughs. Mabye I need professional help. Perhaps I should stop posting drunk.... |
