Something new that makes me lose respect for humanity ((well sort of)

When creationists say that creationism is the only possible answer and that science has proved nothing, I get angry and lose faith in humanity whenever i hear somthing like that.

Science has proved many things.

Censorship, spoof movies, celeb gossip, soaps/sitcoms, rom-coms, people who say expresso, pregnant kids smoking, leery old men in bars, lilly allen, scientology, american election campaigns, political correctness,extremism.... i'd continue but there aren't enough hours in the day to type them all.

Maleists are either misogynists or chauvinists, I'm not sure which. Someone correct me if they know!

Both, I think.

Misogynists are anti-women, I think Chauvanism has more pro-man than anti-woman but it's got both.

Chauvinism refers to any sort of partisan belief for the group to which you belong. While it is usually used in the context of male chauvinism, it is also synonymous with nationalism.

Misogyny is just the hatred of women, and is antonymous with misandry, which is a very obscure word for the hatred of men.

I guess the best opposite for feminism would be masculism, which is also an obscure word, which pretty much means what feminism does, except for men.

Things that make me lose faith in humanity are when people describe habits/things/people they hate, and it makes me feel bad for enjoying them.

And that's not okay.

I never thought I'd find another person to know that. You have given me back a tiny bit of faith for humanity.

However, it doesn't make me forget

Political correctness. Seriously, you're taking it too far. Am I the only one who thinks they must have gotten bored considering how desperately they try to occupy themselves with something

Feminists. Same thing here.

Youth culture or the lack thereof. Even writing about the people my age fills me with contempt. Seems nowadays we got nothing but Emos, Gangstas, Punks and Krochas (an Austrian thing, don't try and understand it, sort of a Techno music livestyle), that have turned in their ability to think and form opinions in order to fit in with the crowd. Or the fact that most male teenagers nowadays act like complete pricks. Disrespecting everything and everyone around them, swaggering like they were the most important person on earth. Also they somehow get all the girls.

Besides, there's Reality Tv, Tv in general, stupidity, showing no interest in politics even though you're allowed to vote, lacking basic knowledge, recent trends in music, the disappearence of discussion culture, creationists, religios zealots, vanity, materialism, extremism and absolutes, in no particular order.

There's a lot of things that make me loe respect for humanity, but the first thing that comes to mind is people that insist on writing "You should of" instead of "you should have". It always makes me hurt inside when I see that.

Several things to name a few

Being accused of "burning down churches" and having the ability to "summon demons" by a taxi driver for wearing goth-ish boots.

A few years ago a woman had been in a hit and run accident on a main road and no one would pull over and help her, they just drove around her.

Being spat at by chavy high school kids for being at their bus stop

Losing respect in humanity for one reason or another is usually a sign of at least some intelligence... I applaud you all.

Things that have made me lose respect in humanity:
-TV
-The lack of imagination in today's TV shows
-The crap music that everyone listens to these days
-Ignorance
-People that lack control over their emotions. It's ok to lash out or be angry, just learn to avoid hurting people with it.

I dislike when someone makes a point. I defeat that point.
And they say their point in a different way.
Hence i am Forced to repeat my original counter-argument.
And this breeds a cyclical conversation that ends with them feeling righteous that i can't be arsed to keep repeating a winning point hence they Must have won and me incredibly frustrated at them lol.

-People saying that Brack Obama is a Muslim Terrorist who is gonna blow up the white house when he's elected because he has the name "Hussein".

-People saying that Barack Obama is an "A-rab". (Last I checked, his dad was from Kenya, and if I recall that's far south of the Middle East) Apologies to anyone of Middle Eastern or Arabic heritage who is offended by that.

-People saying Obama's black...and then saying "But he's only half black."

-People saying that because McCain was born in Panama he's not fit to lead. (He was born on an ARMY BASE, meaning he's a legal citizen of the U.S. I know - my mom was born in Germany)

-People saying that McCain's a wimp because he didn't agree with people that Obama is a terrorist and actually *gasp* SAID SOMETHING NICE ABOUT HIM!!!!

-That McCain and Obama have approved the message given by attack ads.

-That people think sending a million political spam calls to my home phone will get me to vote for Obama or McCain.

Small Story.

So we plan one weekend to go to the cinema, and i'm driving. So i first drive over to a guy who is a friend of my other friend to pick him up (after i told him when i would be over). Of course, he does not come. So after 15 Minutes or so i leave, picking up my other friends. Since i'm a nice (read: stupid guy), i ask if we should head back to pick up "that guy", but since we reserved tickets and had to be at the cinema 30 Minutes before the film begins, we decide to go to the cinema right away.

Of course, shortly before we arrive, "that guy" calls. He obviously seemed to misunderstood the time when i would pick him up and is all sad now and everything. So i, pissed but understanding, finish my way to the cinema, pick up the tickets and drive back to "that guy"'s house to pick him up (since he has no drivers license).
So back to the cinema again, lending "that guy" a ticket because he "couldn't get any money" and almost missing the beginning of the movie.

All of this would have been filed to me as an "minor annoyance" and nothing to bitch about.
But some weeks later, when i am once again riding with my friends (but not "that guy"), he tells me about how often "that guy" suggested to ditch me when we were doing something together.

All that after i gave him a ride countless times so he could get pissed while i hang around in bars being "the driver".
If he does not like me, thats his thing, but after i did so much for him, he could at least shut the fuck up and not try to stab my back when i'm not aroudn.

.. Wh.. Okay, 'summon demons' I've heard before, but burning down churches? Holy hell.

Anyways.

- The 'Something' movies. Epic Movie, Silly Movie, Meet the Spartans probably goes under that genre too.. They're just goddamn awful.

There is parody, then there is plain bullshit dressed up to look like a funny movie. People who think of those abominations need to die in a fire.

Whenever someone buys Superhero movie, meet the spartans, date movie, disaster movie or any of those crappy movies that claim with a straight face that lazy plaigarism and pop culture references make for comedy makes me lose all faith in humanity.

I see i'm not the only one. faith slightly restored.

-whenever someone writes "would of" instead of "would have" or "would've"
-I called myself a narcissist and this guy (grade 12 btw) didn't know what it meant
-I was in comparative civilizations 12 (an ELECTIVE history/philosophy course) and people didn't know the meaning of "eunuch" or "ignorant" or "sentient"
-my friend who was in grade 11 at the time, was given a mandatory literacy exam and one of the words was "fiery"
-that people whose only language is English, can FAIL English class... how do fail the only thing you know???
-that women who are anti-choice will go for an abortion claiming that their abortion is the 'only moral abortion' http://mypage.direct.ca/w/writer/anti-tales.html

... that's all I've got right now, I have more, just not right now

edit:
that lipgloss song!!! it's a really popular song and I probably could have gone my whole life without hearing it... I'm pretty sure weird al's "this song is just 6 words long" has more lyrics.

Sounds like English is a second language for you.
English class isn't the English language, it's more literary analysis, debating, creative writing etc. It's got nothing to do with vocabulary, syntax and grammar.

I'm not sure if English is my first or second language, I grew up with English and Chinese. I know that English class is a literary analysis class... I also took English Lit... which was totally not a literary analysis class XD

but seriously... it's not hard to pass English... just do all your homework and show up to class, there's no way to study for an English exam unless it's like "make sure you understand Hamlet's moment of Catharsis"

also by grade 12 the teacher expects you to have proper grammar... granted he'll still take marks off for that, but if one is failing because they keep making grammar mistakes then I hope they never spawn.

People who think learning is 'stupid'. people who think reading books is a waste of time and people who don't want to learn math because using a calculator is easier.

basically anyone that believes that being ignorant is a good thing.

i.e "I'll never need math's in my life cause who needs to know how to work out percentages in real life"

Speaking as someone who has an English exam tomorrow, I'd beg to differ. Maybe you have a talent for it, or maybe our English classes are far more difficult, I dunno, but for me, English is anything but an easy subject.

When politicians try to be more "folksy" than their opponent.

Politicians who spout that they want to "talk straight" to the voters, and go off spouting patriotic imagery and say ABSOLUTELY NOTHING OF VALUE.

When "war" is waged on an intangible idea like the war on drugs, the war on terror, the war on illiteracy, etc

I asume I'm the exception to the rule, given that I neither swagger nor do I 'get the girls', as you so eloquently put it.

What irritates me is people who adjust their lives to fit the annoyances of others, e.g: someone reading this and changing their lifestyle completely to suit the interests of a complete stranger. If any of you actually intend to change people with this thread, then you're no better -if not worse- than the people you moan about.

The hypocrisy there is that I frequently do change my lifestyle to suit other people.

Because I'm a great big sheep.

Actually, no. You'd only be an exception if you still acted like a prick, and the level of intelligence and respect shown by you so far doesn't make me think that.

Since I put swaggering and getting girls in direct correlation, not getting girls and not swaggering doesn't make you an exception to this rule, it shows that this rule also applies on you.

i lose faith in people who immediately assume something about me with little reason.
-i play beerpong once every other month. someone heard this and called me an alcoholic.

-i spouted some dumbed-down knowledge of the Automatic Kalishnikov c.1947, and someone called me a gun-obsessed nutbag. (really though, if i was, why try to offend me like that?)

-i read my book instead of participating in an argument over 2Pac and Biggie, and i was called an antisocial wierdo.

well they could be dyslexic, but ive got to say talking about Yosser being a typical situation for people in Liverpool during the Thatcher years for 20 bloody pages and still coming up with new points is a difficult thing to do+ some people find creative writing hard

well *shrugs* I'm just talking about passing English... a passing grade in grade 12 English is a C- and that's 50% ... the only way to get less than 50% is if you don't hand in any assignments.

on another note, I hated English class since it was mostly essays >.< I loved creative writing though...

and I'm not including dyslexic people or people who have any kind of learning disability.
