to anyone who has seen the film "Funny Games"
i am just going to mention the "remote control" scene and follow it up with a bunch of question marks. here they are: ????????????????????
the film up to that point is pure 24 carat solid gold
it's twisted, yet intelligent with absolutely superb acting
then it introduces a potentially fantastic plot twist, but carries on to the end of the film like it never happened
it makes the whole movie from then on very confusing and no attempt is made to remedy the situation
oh well i'd still recommend the film to anyone over the age of fourteen
if you're one of those rare few who has seen it already, let me know if you agree

The ending for Time Bandits was a serious What The Fuck moment? The film itself was a jolly Python-esque romp through various periods of history, there was a climactic scene with the bad guy, everything seems to go back to normal, then BAM! It wasn't that it was extreme left-field mind fuckery, it just seemed so out of place compared to the rest of the film.

Wow, you must not be familiar with how Terry Gilliam makes movies. They almost never have happy endings.

I loved Time Bandits. It's one of the first films I can remember seeing in my life, and it stands out over all other children's fare I've seen because of the gritty realism, anti-heroes, and dark comedy.

"Heroes?!?! HEROES!?!?! What do THEY know about a day's work???"

i know its a bit obvious but the Sopranos.cuts to black at a completly random moment and i know im not the only one who was annoyed by that move.

I think the general consensus is that was the last moment of Tony's life. They threw enough symbolism in the last 5 minutes of that episode to make that a sound conclusion.

I agree that is a suck ending though, I wanted Tony to live long enough for a film adaption :(

Sorry if I spoiled that for anyone, but if you haven't seen it yet, you probably don't have any serious intention to.

I don't know if this is the definition of a bad ending, but the way FOX canned Married... with Children mid-season and gave them like a week to write a mish-mashed finale was most disappointing ending to anything I ever loved.

Harry Goz passing away and leaving Sealab humorless and eventually canceled was a bad ending to a great show too.

The Wire, the ending to series 5 left me so depressed, i wanted them to make a series 6 where McNulty becomes a masked vigilante maybe with a bat motive.

Jekyll. Loved the show, but towards the end, the story became a bit infeasible.

It is fiction. I really hope they do a second season because it is one of my favourite shows I've ever seen.

No Country For Old Men made some serious plotting mistakes at the end. I also hate the ending for the original Dawn of the Dead, anyone who has seen it knows why, sudden random hero moment when the ending should be dark and depressing.

/Agree.

The ending of the original Dawn of the Dead makes no sence! I can't even contemplate what is going on in it and than a zombie gets a gun and contemplates what its doing. Arrrgh! *shoots self in the temple*.

*FLASH*zombie runs toward victim.*FLASH*victim's running.*FLASH*Picture of the eiffel tower.(a bit more detail is what i'm asking for.)

That's the kind of ending you're supposed to expect for a film like that. It wasn't weird at all.

Though the show isn't over yet, House definitely took a turn for the worse at season four. Getting rid of the original team was a bold, and somewhat understandable move to get rid of the repititiveness of the previous seasons, but it doesn't pay off when you include the guy from Harold and Kumar and the lesbian from The OC.

The Scrubs series finale was awful, it tied up no loose ends and it ended badly

Mmm, I hated the Dragonball Gt ending. The whole of Gt was always my least favourite but the ending really wasn't good at all. I can image a lot of little kids getting kind of sad that after everything, all the main characters apart from two have died.

Not sure if I liked the ending of Fight Club.

I'd recommend the book, it has a much more satisfying ending. Though I guess that's no so unusual in film adaptations of novels.

The film is still way better then the book. Even the author of the book thinks the book is crap compared to the film.

Frankie The Kingpin:

Biggest dissapointment in a movie ending? The DaVinci Code, not even gonna go there, anyone who's read the book knows what I mean. Hollywood, are you listening? STOP MAKING CRAP MOVIES AND TV SHOWS!!! THE PUBLIC HAS HAD IT WITH YOUR EASY-TO-DIGEST, PALLATIBLE, STEREOTYPICAL B.S.!!!

The Da-Vinci code book is easy-to-digest. At least Tom Hanks gave some personality to a character that had none in the novel.

The third season of Arrested Development was a big pile of disappointing rubbish. The whole Michael dating an "MRW(sic)" just felt a bit creepy...

The film is so much more visceral. I prefer the film's ending, too. Controversy!

every (mostly gangster) film where they follow the rise and fall pattern. i loved how they left the sopranos for this exact reason, and yeah the fight club ending annoys the hell out of me. why didnt he just go along with it? i would of much prefered to be tyler durden than the narrator.

Eh, I thought it was an okay ending, I mean, two jackhole kids kill the world with their sentimental BS and stupidity.

Then again I'm the only person I know that actually liked the ending to Stephen King's 'The Mist'.

Anyway, crappy ending. Got to say one of the worst endings I've seen has to be The Fog. The original had a bad ending, but the film had a sort of campiness that made up for it (zombie ghost leper pirates ftw). Now the remake was just...it was awful, "hey the leper ghosts are killing everybody with no discrimination, oh wait, this girl turns out to be the daughter of the leader of the ghosts even though she's alive and was born and grew up here, and now she becomes a ghost"

House of the Dead had another gloriously crummy ending, but then what else could you expect from the movie.

10,000 B.C. also had a 'meh' ending to me. Thought it would have been nice if they had left it as it was instead of having the witch doctor lady do her crazy miracle stuff to make everything end happy.

Ah well, I could go on and on about bad endings but I'll just leave it at that for now.

The Untouchables was an awesome movie right up until the end at the courthouse.

Collateral was also similar; most of the movie was interesting, exciting, and captivating, then it spiraled into cliches and frustration. The movie fell apart and threw away everything it could have been.

I disagree with the Untouchables ending...I thought the ending was perfect as is. However, I do wish whoever had written the line for Ness to say to Capone could have found something more final to say. The whole point of the movie was, of course, how far Elliot Ness would go to get Al Capone- in the end he had to beat them at their own game using their own rules.

I felt the ending of "Narnia: Prince Caspian" was very anti-climactic.
Really, I reserve all hatred for Fox for canceling good shows that I enjoy *cough* Firefly *cough*. It's only made worse by the fact that there's never any closure. The last episode never really wraps things up and you're left wondering what happens. While "Drive" wasn't exactly spectacular, I was very put out when they canceled "The Inside" and "Wonderfalls".

Firefly does have a "sort of" ending movie- I can't think of the name...it was the one about the 12 year old girl with the power to kick the hell out of these "Reaver" beings. I saw it and enjoyed it, even though I had not ever seen any of the series.

It's funny you mentioned SG-1. After Farscape's cancellation, Ben Browder and Claudia Black were out of a job and both joined the cast of SG-1 in the later seasons. I haven't seen much of the show though, so I can't pass judgement on it.

It took me about twenty episode of SG-1 with Browder to recognise him from farscape, I felt ashamed...

Fargate,

Or, if you prefer.... Starscape.

Agreed. I've never watched that film again, despite some serious good bits in it. Brazil does the same thing but SO much better.

American Werewolf in London has such a shitty ending it's untrue.

I know a lot of people bitched about the Angel finale, but I thought it was an awesome message about how the fight will never be over. That said, the Buffy Season 8 and Angel Season 6 comics have been awesome so far.

News of more Red Dwarf just practically gave me a semi, and I can't believe I didn't hear about it until now.

Heroes season 2 got kind of screwed by the writers' strike, as did Lost season 4 and a bunch of other things.

Oh, I love "Serenity". It was brilliant. However, I would have preferred that the series continued as "Serenity" was considered season 2 of the series. Plus, Wash probably would have not died. The only real reason he did in the film was due to filming conflicts as Alan Tudyk was doing Broadway at the time and Joss couldn't afford to delay filming. Then again, Joss is known for just randomly killing off main characters.

Plus, it would have been nice to learn the extent of River's true powers as a psychic and an ass kicker. Especially considering she goes from just a crazy teenager to a battle axe wielding badass. I remember seeing movie posters for "Serenity" and the first thing out of my mouth was, "Who the f*** gave River weapons?!"

As a standalone, the movie is great, but if you've watched the series as well, you can't help but wonder what else could have been explored.

Anyone remember a little Sci-Fi gem called Sliders? The first three seasons were fantastic, even though they killed of John Rhys-Davies mid season three. Then the show started to go downhill when another cast member was killed offscreen, but they brought in the main character's twin brother, ok.

The show went to complete shit in the beginning of the fifth season, when they GOT RID OF THE MAIN FUCKING CHARACTER!!!!

Seinfeld. How can anyone not have mentioned the final episode of this show? It was terrible!

Pretty much every movie I've seen by M. Night Shyamalan.

I was dissapointed by the ending to Unbreakable, I was expecting (due to the film being Directed by M. Night Shymalallalalaalallaman, who had some credit to his name at the time)an amazing twist, perhaps I built it up too much, but I was dissapointed.

Donnie Darko also has a terrible ending, once again I was expecting a twist but was rewarded with pretentious crap.

The Green Mile makes the list, the ending wasn't bad but my god did I hate the old people in that film. If you can watch that old woman say "He Infected you...with life?" without feeling the urge to kill her, her family and everyone she has ever known, then I owe you a coke.

I always thought that Angel (1999 - 2004) had a really terrible ending and a disappointing final season. Season 3 was simply epic with the return of Darla and Holzt and Wesley being exiled, and the entire theme of season 4 was very unique and interesting. Season 5 had potential when Angel moved into Wolfram & Hart, but that was largely pissed away when they went back to the simple one episode plot lines like the first season, and the last two episodes were just poorly executed and half assed.

Really, it all went downhill when they killed Lilah.

Angel is one of my favourite shows, but man the ending was a let down.
