I am talking about when did you stop beliving in things like the tooth fairy, santa, justice and the "fact" that right always wins.

feel free to include jesus, god or the after life (or any other deities etc)
or anything else that you belived as a child.

I found out that Santa didn't exist when I was 6 and I never believed in God or anything like that. I guess I was a cynical child.

What do you mean Santa doesn't exist?

I've never had a moment where I felt like the magic has died. But, I can relate a funny story that happened to a friend of my mom's when they were kids.

When he was about 9 years old, he learned about the Easter Bunny not being real. He says he was eating breakfast and thinking about the deep philosophical issues involved in not believing in the Easter Bunny when something of far greater importance struck him. Turning to his mom, he exclaimed in distress, "Does this mean that Superman isn't real either?!"

Well i remember praying to god for a trailer for my toy digger aged 4, then not receiving one. Apart from that i don't ever actually remember having faith, for most of my life I've been very rational.

I was probably about 7 when "the magic died." Though I didn't mention it to my parents, because I wanted the money to keep arriving under my pillow when I put my teeth there.

I don't think it ever did with me. Not really. I just shifted my view on things a bit. Santa, the Easter Bunny (aka, Jesus killer), and the Tooth Fairy are all real. It's the whole world that helps to perpetuate these 'mythical' beings. WE make them real.
Instead of seeing and living in the magic, we eventually become the supporters and creators of the magic.
It's one of the coolest things that happens in the world that everyone takes for granted.

In holland you have ''Sinterklaas''..

Let's explain that:
On the 5th of december Sinterklaas comes whit a boat to the netherlands.
he had a red hat whit a yellow cross, a long beard and a staff.
At night he walks over the roofs putting putting presents trough chimneys (if thats the right word ;) ). If you take a shoe and put it near the chimney.. a present will fall in it.
(ofcourse my parents putted presents in my shoe)

when i was around 8 years my mum and dad told me it was fake.. i had the double-u-t-f feeling at that moment, and i was a bit shocked. My brother didnt know it was fake.
Still the magic didnt die because i still got a present every year. I know my parents bought the presents, but it still was a suprise :D

These days we celebrate it on school by giving presents to other people. Sinterklaas himself was also at our school last year!!!! But when he started talking i heared it was the math teacher xD. The beard was fake too.

The magic didnt really die for me. And i hope that the magic goed on when i have childeren myself.

hahaha, priceless :D
For me none of them really excisted, i didnt buy that santa came with the presents, cause i was always up at night watching my mom and dad put the presents under the tree :P, and i dont believe in religion nor a bunny that runs around pooping funny colored eggs.

I can't say, with any certainty, that "the magic" ever really died for me. I dunno, call me a sap if you'd like, but watching a bunch of kids sprinting around the yard screaming and pulling colorful plastic eggs from obscure spots on Easter always brings a certain kinda joy and serenity to my day.

That, and receiving gifts, no matter how they're gotten, or who they're from, is pretty freakin' cool.

That, and I'm a fiction writer. Writer's pen strokes are those that bring magic into the world and bring epic, galaxy wide conflicts to readers' eyes day-in, day out. I don't care if life occasionally takes a shot at a child's innocence. It happens every day, but magic can still be find in today's dry and dreary world, especially if you look for it.

While my belief in Santa Clause, The Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy all died around the age of seven shortly after finding a roll of printed stickers with Santa's name on them in my garage, I'm still a believer in the 'mystic' possibilities in the world. This includes my belief in the soul, spiritual energy, and 'chi' as its usually called.

But that's about it.

I can't remember when I stopped believing in stuff, but it definetly made Christmas less fun.

I never really believed in any of that stuff, but I guess the general magic and wonder of life died for me when my parents got divorced. On Christmas. After that everything just seems a lot more gray.

I always knew the tooth fairy/easter bunny were not real as my parents didn't particularly try and convince me. But Santa even at 11 that was a blow.

I honestly can't remember when I found out they weren't real. Most likely because it doesn't really matter to me. It's the spirit of the holiday that counts not the mascots that go with it right?

It went for me around 9 years of age. Soon after that God and the like went out the window too. *shrug*

I stopped believing in Santa when I was 6 or 7 because he just so happened to use the same wrapping paper that my parents used. I stopped believing in god when I was 13 or 14, I still however invoke his name to get all the stupid people on my side though.

I pretty much 100% agree with NewClassic, the magic is gone... but you can always create new magic yourself.

When I was six I apparently used the phrase 'Illogical' to describe Father Christmas. I have no idea how I picked it up, but it means that the magic died before it really began. Didn't really bother me, though.

Well, I stopped believing in Santa when I was nine, if that's what you asking. However I still have hope that there's something out there that is more powerful than me (unlike those who believe we are alone in the universe and just made of shit dirt, or we are the new specie of monkeys). If I stop believing this, it is because I died! Period.

Anyways, I never believed in the freaky psycho tooth fairy, because who the hell would want my teeth for money! LOL!

(to all those who say I can create magic myself, I tried to make me fly and now my knees are poking out of my chin :S)

I stopped believing in Santa when I was about 5, I still believe there is a god, simply because some of the stuff that happens to me is too ironic and convenient to be a coincidence. Plus, it's also nice to have someone to blame when things go wrong.

I stopped believing in Santa around 9. I never really believed in the tooth fairy or easter bunny. as for God however I believe and for the record most Christians aren't stupid or irrational some but not most.

Why not believe in something. I'm not trying to convert anybody, but why go through life handling everything on your own. Sure there ignorance, but strong beliefs creates stronger people imho.

I think that it doesn't stop, I stopped believing in santa when I was about 10, and after that I helped my parents to keep my brothers believing, and I think that's what the magic is.

I'm such a corny b*****d... lol

I always kinda knew that Santa never existed as a small child. Same thing with the Easter Bunny and stuff like that, they're all just tools that the government uses to goad the good people of America to buy overpriced pieces of malformed plastic for their screeching offspring, and to make more Darwinists(no offense to any Darwinists here, but I'm just saying. You're tools of The Man, like the people who make Christmas plays into "Winter" plays, and ruined MTV, and kidnapped Shamoo, and slip micro-chips into your toilet paper!)...... So, around 3 or 4, I think.

Santa still exists for me. But more like an ideal rather than one person actually doing that stuff. Christ, even God can't attend to everyone's needs after all.

What died for me the moment I heard about it was the Easter Bunny. Come on. A rabbit that spreads out chocolate eggs? That doesn't even make sense.

And also never ended up believing the Tooth Fairy because I didn't have a chance too. In here, some people have the tradition of picking our milk teeth and making a sort of necklace out of for storage only purposes. I ended up being born in one of those families.
