Darth Mobius, I'll agree that your experience had been gender biased, but I feel I should let you know that the courts just fuck up the situation no matter what. My father had them eating out of the palm of his hand simply because he charmed them into believing whatever he said. The judicial system always gets it wrong because they simply don't care. I hope you still get to see your daughter and that you haven't given up yet, the only reason I'm not living with my father right now is because my mother never gave in.

I myself have never been the subject of discrimination because I live in Ireland, where the majority of people are white and quite racist. And before people start typing angrily at me, I'm a white, British born Irishman and I've frequently been shocked by sidelong comments about other races made by people I've known for ages. And then there's the blatant, outright racism that I see everywhere. A bunch of my friends are black/half-cast and people will stop their cars to make comments on how they should go back to their own country, or claim that I'm a kidnap victim and that I should run away. The funny thing is I didn't notice that they were black for weeks. I knew, yes, I'm not blind, but I hadn't really acknowledged it. Since then we've had a long running joke in which I call all my white friends "my cracka" and act all shocked and offended whenever any of my black friends say it. I'm all like "Hey! You aren't allowed to say that! Only we can say that!"

As for that whole "immigration" thing that seems to get on everyones tits, they aren't the cause of the ghettos you're blaiming them for, the government is. So, what, since there's a lot of drug dealers popping up around them, that's their fault? No! It's the governments for not stamping out crime like they're doing in all the other places! And why do they seperate themselves? Maybe you aren't making them feel welcome. Maybe they, like all British people on holiday, choose to stick close to people their own race so that they don't feel like outcasts. Maybe they've moved into these ghettos because that's all they can afford until they can earn the money they came to your country to get in the first place. Why doesn't anyone look into all the possibilities before pointing the finger?

And yes, I know this is a discussion about having recieved racism/sexism for being white/male, I just wanted to challenge some of the statements I've seen here that I disagreed with. Personaly, I reckon that there's always someone who just likes to hate for no reason, colour or gender doesn't make a difference. Hating someone for being white is no different than hating someone for being black. If we stopped labeling races as "majorities" and "minorities", we'd be able to call out someone who isn't white for being a racist without being laughed at. As for sexism, I kinda reckon it's funny the way women always think that men are idiots and can't do anything right. It means we can go on all we want about how all women are so maddeningly confusing. When they're not within earshot, of course, we want to retain our sex lives and/or just plain and simple lives.

There. My oppinion of the thing as a whole. Now I'm not just challenging everyone elses oppinions.

Well when I was in high school I had some friends who lived in a black neighborhood, and the only way we could go out without having to worry about getting attacked for being white (they had been jumped and robbed many times, singled out for being white) was to make sure we had a large group of us all together. I live near Detroit, and this sort of thing happens all the time.

Also, I have to point out that I find the term 'reverse-racism' offensive - it generally means racism against whites. That term implies that only whites are racist, so it's not really racism, it's reverse racism. The truth is that over 90% of interracial crime in this country is black on white, not the other way around. Many blacks, however, don't like to admit this little fact because it distorts the image of the black person being victimized by whites and weakens public support for other racist institutions such as affirmative action

I don't understand the attitude that native Americans 'rightfully own' America. When europeans got here the land was 99.9% uninhabited. That's like claiming the entire europe-asia land mass rightfully belongs to whoever lived in some part of it first.

It wasn't uninhabited, sir. A great deal of the tribes were just mobile (see: The plains indians). Not to mention, the European settlers managed to kill most of them off just by breathing on them with their sick breathe.
