Let me detail the ways that you are indicative of those younger children that we despise so.

Your spelling is atrocious, even abominable. Unnecessary contractions litter your work and the only capitalisation that you have done is that of the abbreviation, "BS". Every sentence should begin with a capital letter.

On the subject of sentences, this post completely lacks punctuation. Every sentence should finish with a full stop, be separated with commas, colons and semi-colons where appropriate and contain the requisite number of apostrophes.

If you are indicative of the products of the schooling system of your country, then I fear for the future economic state of said country. This post is a malefic abomination, and I have taken the liberty of reporting it under the reasoning that it is a crime against the English language.

I only have a problem with kids who get their mic set up, then talk as if they just spent 3 days snorting pixie sticks. Their voices are high and their babble unceasing.

Well I'm 15 and I don't see what the fuss is, I mean as long as people don't use really stupid names i.e. "SnipaPwner" or offensive names i.e. "P155 FL4P" (I recently played against someone with that name and left the game on principle). And they don't swear their tits off at anything (and scream it I might add) while they're mic is on.

I hate to play devil's advocate more so on this thread, But I never got why so many people online are against anyone who has problems with grammar. Not everyone's first language is English or took such a liking to English and writing classes.I know my sentence structure and misplacing of punctuations is pretty bad but I excuse myself on the simple fact I also know ASL and use it when I have to communicate.

So having to be torn into and chewed up every now and then I try to type online by some high horse grammar fanatic is insane. I just never got why some people are almost fanatical about how you must type and spell perfectly to be taken serious where more often then not they never attempted to learn a second language and see first hand how hard it can be to juggle the rules of both languages in their minds.

. Because they are always (I've never played against a decent little kid) incredibly bad at the game.

. Most little kids never shut up talking, especially with their friends, they never disscuss tactics or ways to win - its either terrible singing or obnoxious insults.

. They play the game all the time - you can't avoid them.

. The insult's - when I beat a player (usually at Soul Calibur 4 at this momment in time), I always send a message exclaiming "good game", usually including a tip or hint on how to improve.

Now, most players are grateful and thank me back, or at lest don't reply. But everytime I get a voice message its from some little kid going on about how much better they are than me and that I beat them by "cheating, noobing, hacking, etc".

Its just pathetic.

In all, kids need to stop playing games as much - I put this down to bad parenting.

As for your first post - please don't post on these forums again - your grammer, spelling and subject is downright pathetic, I've seen a growing number in these "why r us kids hated" threads. The reason is simple - your too immature. Lol.

Rant over =D

I can't believe this post was just congratulated. It's disgusting. Just think about what you're saying. It's the worst form of internet elitism there is, and this is one of the worst examples I've ever seen. Grammar Nazis are never cool, and I just can't understand what you hope to accomplish with this?

The guy asks a genuine question of concern, and you reply with a hate filled generalisation. From the very first sentence, you just attack. Forums are not a place to be cool and pick on smaller people, and it sickens me to see members of the Escapist, one of the few places I thought left that still had integrity, succum to such behaviour.

Ok, he does write immaturely, but does that makes him a terrible person worthy of only the hard side of your boot? Have you ever thought of helping instead of dishing out bile? I'd like to point him to the guidelines so that he can see the way things are done around here. All your response will do is either drive him away, or encourage a similar rebuttal.

Please stop it with the attacks. Forums are what we make of them.

The difference applies that your writing is, in fact, legible. Perhaps not perfect, but even I make spelling mistakes, punctuation mistakes and syntactic errors.

I did have to learn the basics of Gaeilge (the Irish language), and I did take French lessons for three years, so I do understand the difficulties of holding two languages concurrently, particularly as I had absolutely no competence at Gaeilge, despite taking it for perhaps twelve years.

True, and never meant to be hostile over that just seems it is popping up more and more on forums these days. Also I find phrasing in English far tougher then in Deutsch just always wondered why it's almost imperative to type perfectly these days.

Though I do agree on at least making a attempt at spelling out words and hate when people use "u" and not "you", Just using all those punctuations makes my head spin so I just randomly put mine in where I think it makes sense.

I don't find it absolutely imperative to type perfectly in many cases. As I noted, even I make spelling mistakes, so I'd be a complete hypocrite to suggest that perfect spelling is essential.

What I do find essential, however, is a generally proficient attitude to the language, and your writing does not cause that sort of in-built elitist attitude that I admittedly possess.

He notes that he is fourteen years old. There is no rational reason why a fourteen-year-old native English speaker should write in such a fashion, short of laziness.

I generally dislike snotty attitudes and the inability to gracefully accept defeat. I know this behavior is not limited to little kids, but it is far more prevalent in that group. The voice chat thing just allows other players to confirm that the player with the maturity of an eight year old is actually an eight year old.

If you are looking for ways to not be hated for your age try not to whine when you loose and not to gloat when you win. Most "older" gamers don't have anything against kids playing games. They were, after all, kids themselves at one point.

There is a big difference between being an imperfect speller, not knowing the language and being a l33t hax0r (Whatever the heckle that it). Using shorthand (cuz its like cool n stf like diz iz) when talking to a general population makes you sound like an arrogant twat who can't be bothered to, for example, type out the 2 other letters in "u". It demonstrates an unwillingness to take the reader seriously, which some will cringe at whether the speaker is using his/her native language or not. Usually we will assume that the writer knows the language to the extent of knowing how to spell usual words, especially when that writer seems to comprehend putting actual context into a phrase.

At least, we'd expect people of 12+ years of age to have grasped basic grammar rules for whatever language they have as their first, these would include full stops and some captalisation, at the very least, and apply these same basics to whichever language they are writing in. It might make your sentences a complete mess to read if you, as another example, use a different sentence structure (Like a german, which the verbs at the end of the sentence put), but at least you'll come off as new to the language and not a whiny and lazy user of it.

For the record, english is my second language (And german my third), but even in my early days of the intertubes I never got faulted by the grammar police simply by putting a bit of thought and extra time behind my sentences, not treating them as commentating remarks made to friends but questions posed to strangers.

And thank you, Chiasm, for playing the role of the advocate, I usually find myself on the recieving end of ire disputatory conjurations such as this one.

The only reason I ever dislike a person is if they talk smack like they are someone cool. Most of the time this just happens to be preteens, or early teens. The big problem is these little children lack sportsmenship. If you lose, you learn from the experience. If you win, you say "Good Game" and move on.

Going on like "Aww ya boi, I just kicked yo ass, stupid *racistword*" and such, and yes, racist word is usually ALWAYS there, is basically a complete failure of ones character.

I can't believe you think that's reasonable ground for such harshness. There's no excuse for it. This blanket hatred of young gamers isn't productive in the slightest. Are you trying to discourage an entire new generation of players? Most of the time they only need a little guidance. Admittedly, maybe he is lazy if he is a native speaker, but that's no excuse to act like a King passing judgement on his subjects.

OK, that seems like that's enough.

Being an older gamer I can see where most of you are coming from:
- Squeakers RUIN the gaming experience.
- Poor sports RUIN the gaming experience.
- Cuss fiends and jerks RUIN the gaming experience.
- Team Killers RUIN the gaming experience.
- Immature people RUIN the gaming experience.

Crazy fact: This could be ANYONE. I will concede that many younger players tend to roll into these categories easier than others, but there have been many more "older players" that have caused me to quit a game in disgust than young players. Granted that may be because I don't play games like Halo 3 on XBL as often as some. Yes, the younger players are more frequently immature, but guess what: that's because they ARE immature! A 13 year old gamer who plays Halo nine hours a day is NOT going to be as well adjusted as your average 26 year old. Their whining, squeaking, and poor sportsmanship is indicative of their maturity, not their age.

Let me state it more simply: immature players tend to be the bane of online play. This does NOT mean that every young player is a poor player. This also does NOT mean that every older player is a great player. Older players camp, hack, teabag, corner camp.

To sum up, this is simply prejudice. Squeakers are unwelcome. Poor sports are unwelcome. Cussing douches are unwelcome.
Young players who have a respect for others, are willing to learn from someone who is better than they are, and willing to teach (humbly) to someone who is worse than them are welcome. This goes for everyone, not just young gamers.

So no, D_987, they do not have to leave. Maybe you should leave for being insensitive, demeaning, and prejudice. Take a minute and think about the statements I've made here and ask yourself if you're really being fair. And then don't comment on what you think because I don't care.

As far as the grammar and what not goes, don't listen to these guys. Just because you can't spell or form perfect sentences doesn't mean you are retarded or should be banned from the internet forever. But I will say this: I you're going to type on a FORUM and not in IM, you should at least TRY to use spell checking and punctuation. A little effort can go a long way.
