If they stuck to canon it would be like Advent Children, only fans of game know what is going on so they exclude a lot of people thus loosing money. From what I've read I know its almost nothing like the tv show so im not gonna go watch it expecting a movie that hugs the original idea, im gonna go in expecting a martial arts movie (yay) loosly based on the DB world |

Thats fine and all... but would it have been so hard to paint piccolo green, rather then white? Just that one flaw would make it at least half as bad as it is at the moment. |

Did Advent Children really do that badly because I'm one of the only one of my friends that is sad enough to know 100% what's going on? (yet most own a copy themselves) I think not. Keeping it canon entertained whilst leaving people wondering, which STILL got some people to check out the original game after a friend (etc.) showed them AC. Not to mention the bastard children spin-offs that appeared after AC. I'm sure a few new fans checked some of those out too. They maybe even looked further into the FF world. As you may have sensed, I feel Square have pushed it a little too far now with the FF7 steam-roller. I guess nobody is perfect. |

Sorry I should of worded that better. What I ment was - when making a movie based off a manga, tv show or game then you either change things to make the masses understand it OR keep it as it is and exclude people. AC went for a fan movie, as a result, anyone who hasnt played the game doesnt know whats going on. This dragonball movie is going with a bigger budget and is trying to appeal to more people thus earn more money =D |

Just Dragon Ball itself is 153 episodes, and about 5 movies, so squeezing it all in to a live action movie would be impossible. I'm concerned about almost everything in it I see. Master Roshi isn't some zen master. He's a crazy old pervert who happens to be the most powerful martial artist on earth. Heck, for the first 4 episodes of the second saga in Dragonball, Roshi just is constantly asking Krillin and Son Goku to get him a date before he'll train them. Piccollo doesn't even really come into play until the last few sagas of the series. The only thing that the dragon ball series has going for it in an american atmosphere is it's charm (and it does have a healthy dose of that.) The movie will probably really really suck, but I'll watch it anyway. I just wonder if Goku will run around smacking people in their privates to see if they're a girl or a boy. That'd be hilarious. |

It's pretty damn obvious that you're going to see the next piece of crap sequel, so kicking up a fuss and making it look like you've tried to do something because you shook your fist in the cinema whilst paying through the nose for tickets and snacks means shit. Then the same people bitch at me for complaining until I'm red in the face. I have a right to kick off if I did something about it (it's like complaining about government when you refuse to vote). The ones who keep their thumb in their ass all the time, paying for things just for the sake of it, grow a set. You won't die if you miss how bad this film or the 200th comic book to live action movie conversion will be. Sorry, I'm not ranting at anyone personally, there are a few instances of "going to see it anyway" on this thread which is part of the problem, not the solution. Scathing reviews that mean the producers never work again will do more for its death than any number of un-bought tickets. Watch it, hate it, tell the world how much you hate it. Give them an uwe-boll-esque reputation and you will be much more effective than someone who boycotts it. And besides, then when the fans say 'have you ever seen it?' in a pathetic attempt ti defend it, you can say you have, and be all the more accurate and painful in your insults. |
