Nope. Laisses-Faire just popped into my head soon as I saw the thread title. I don't mean anything by it. |
Beat Writer Posts: 216 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 | I am a pessimist about the world, but an optimist about life. I don't like either of the presidential candidates, I think the justice system is beyond p*ssified, and I believe thoroughly that the world will end by some man-made means, but I love life, my friends and family, and am generally relaxed and in a good mood. I am a Darwinian atheist, but I don't like to hate, that's their job. as for politics, I support more police power (screw warrants!), and economic regulation. I generally think dictators and totalitarians make more effective leaders, and as such, tend to not mind them much. |

Laissez-faire means hands off. it is used as an economic term but inherently has nothing to do with economics. as for my philosophies. there's live and let live, leave the internets the fuck alone, it's fun to be a bastard, friendship shouldn't be easy to earn. cynicism, communism, controlled anarchy (for a definition of controlled anarchy just think of the early days of the internets) and other shit I haven't thought about yet |

Without a doubt. My personal philosophy is comprised of many tenets. 1. All work can be done later, no matter what the importance. 2. Find the humorous side in everything, if there is none, make one. 3. Give people second chances, after all you may need one too sometime. 4. Have a contingency plan for everything, and have a contingency plan for the contingency plans. 5. Respect people until they disrespect you. 6. There is no six. 7. Stand back out of the spotlight, things are more interesting to watch from back there. 8. I always tie my shoes, I don't need another escaltor experience. 9. If you know you're right, don't back down. 10. The people who care about you are most important, don't lose them. 11. Don't surrernder you're beliefs, if you do, you are no longer yourself. That pretty much sums things up about my personal beliefs. Oh, and before you question number 8, its a metaphor. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 110 Joined: 17 Feb 2008 | 1. "People are stupid"; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool." 2.The greatest harm can result from the best intentions 3.Passion rules reason. Explanation: Letting your emotions control your reason may cause trouble for yourself and those around you. 4.There is magic in sincere forgiveness, the magic to heal. In forgiveness you grant, but more so, in forgiveness you receive. 5.People will lie to deceive you from what they truly mean to do. Watching the actions they take will prove their true intentions. 6."Let reason be your only sovereign." 7."Life is the future, not the past." Explanation: "The past can teach us, through experience, how to accomplish things in the future, comfort us with cherished memories, and provide the foundation of what has already been accomplished. But only the future holds life. To live in the past is to embrace what is dead. To live life to its fullest, each day must be created anew. As rational, thinking beings we must use our intellect, not a blind devotion to what has come before, to make rational choices. 8."Deserve victory." Explanation: Be justified in your convictions. Be completely committed. Earn what you want and need rather than waiting for others to give you what you desire. 9.A contradiction cannot exist in reality. Not in part, nor in whole. 10.Willfully turning aside from the truth is treason to one's self. |
