I'm not the best artist, but I really wanted a new avatar so I came up with this Frog in paint. He looked kind of bored sitting on a white background, so I added in a little pond with a horribly drawn lily pad. Any artists out there that want to offer up a nice background for me to put him on? I'd prefer it to be something subtle and not too distracting from the Frog.

I did my own avatar in paint if that gives you any idea of how well I good (or bad) I could do it.

I could extend the pond out behind him and make the lily pad bigger.
Of course then the "smug frog" bit wouldn't show up, unless the colour of the font changed, but then again you have that written above the avatar anyway.

I should probably point out that I used a photo (which was my original avatar) as a reference. So I didn't quite make it up from scratch.

I forgot to mention that I have the original Frog on an all white background - so you don't have to worry about drawing around the Frog. I can just paste him onto the background to make it easier on you.

Do you have a bigger version of the image? It would probably still work if I just copied down the avatar as it is now though. Infact... I think I'll do that.
Expect it in somewhere between five and twenty minutes.

I actually quite like it.

Thanks Lord Krunk. :D I just wanted something more "lily pad" like and I just can't seem to get it worked out in the limited space. I had one heck of a time with the Frog - whenever I draw one with a pen it comes out looking sort of like this - but I just don't have a mastery over the mouse unless I do it pixel by painful pixel.

I might have gone a bit overboard and did a reflection thing in the cheap rip-off of Photoshop I have.

It automatically resizes it for you.

Also You should probably keep in mind that it often takes three or more days for you to see the new avatar. Though others on the escapist can see it in within one day.

That is strange, but he is there on the pad smug and happy. :D

My avatar has been doing some crazy things- sometimes it will arbitrarily revert to an earlier fractal render I was using, and then switch back to what I currently have in a span of 3 days.... It's most puzzling.....

Does that show or is it still black and white with short hair?

I went onto your profile and refreshed when in the Robot Dystopia thread you said you now had long hair, but unless I had done that I doubt I would see it now.

That is awesome! I didn't intend for you to have to do a lot of work with it. I'll definitely have to use both of them. Thanks for contributing a Frog. My niece loves Frogs so now I gotta print that one out for her too.
