That's us alright, we clearly exist to ruin the existence of others. Thats our lot in life, thats what we aspire for and thats all we want to become, people who sit at a computer to insult others. Just because we don't share your opinions on WoW doesn't mean we hate you. If you bothered to not be a dick maybe we would have accepted you as our WoW fan number 1. I suppose you cocked that up haven't you? To The_tree_of_all_evil: I like your new picture. |

Ta, it is animated as well but I can't get the .gif to work like that here. |

I however am content to, before I walk away, say simply "If irony were cookies...... I would think of a better metaphor". Oh and evil, nice picture. It brings the words "angles stole my phone box" to mind Edit: Dam! would have been third post if I didn't take so long. |

Every time I tried to get to sleep I'd think 'what if they're in here right now...'. I must've checked about a hundred times. Brilliant. And OP: you've cut us to the very core of our beings, exposed us as the fat, friendless bastards we are, yadda yadda... |
Copy Clerk Posts: 64 Joined: 14 Apr 2008 | Thank God this isn't just another pissed off little twit throwing a fit because he turned out not to be the pithy spectacle of genius he thought he was. Strangely, some of us don't pin our self-worth as a human being on whether or not people on a web forum slavishly agree with everything we say. Hell, some of us don't pin our self-worth as a human being on whether or not our friends and family slavishly agree with everything we say. I'm sorry you're having problems in that arena, but perhaps instead of being angry this turns out not to be the cyberspace equivalent of the Harvard Debate Club, you might bear in mind it's a forum for a webzine dedicated to video games. Chances are if you're looking for people who are going to be playing video games and pawing at philosophical discourse at the same time, you're looking for an apartment on the cheap side of town, filled with college students passing a joint as they make their next pseudo-heady comment on the works of Karl Marx... There seem to be a lot of intelligent people here, but this is what it is: a casual gamers' forum where people can get together and have a bit of fun discussing things. I don't come here because I'm looking for intellectual stimulation and vituperous debate. I come here to enjoy being the dork I am and enjoy a bit of friendly chat. So far, I haven't been disappointed. What can I say? Maybe it isn't the rest of us. Maybe it's you. Addendum: Okay, I went back and read your other posts. No offense (well, be as offended as you want, I suppose), but you sound like you're young, alienated, and escaped into an online game because it provided you with a surrogate for the things you think your life is lacking, or at least an escape from them. It's always nice to play the hero who gets to choose his adventures instead of having to wander around feeling like a big, fat nobody stuck in a rut, isn't it? At this point, World of Warcraft is probably a big part of your problems, not the solution. Obsession is never a healthy thing, and you probably need to take the fact you're this tied up in a fantasy as a bad sign. I'm going to say it again, this time in a kinder spirit. Maybe it isn't everyone else. Maybe it's you. |

Well of course it wont move if you stare at it. And Orinel, there are more games than WoW, there really are. And surprise surprise there is more to life than games. Don't care about what others feel about either. |

Pulitzer Laureate Posts: 940 Joined: 23 Dec 2007 | I body quivers as I lay on the rug next to the fire. The sensation of the fur excites my fingers, as a presence approaches. I can only see an outline as the heat from the fire warms me softly. As the figure approaches, a great sensation builds within me. The heat from the fire starts to singe my body, which is frozen with excitement. Slowly, my pupils dilate as I make out the figure. The heat is unbearable now, as the hammer makes his entrance. Yes! Yes! There stood the ban hammer, in all of it's glory, ready to make me feel like a natural forumite. I can feel the sensation all over now, as my mind races in anticipation. I can no longer hold my tongue! "Yes! Oh Mighty Ban Hammer! Oh God Yes!" It's all over so quickly, and it doesn't want to hold me afterward, but I lay, satisfied. |

Hey! I don't impersonate Yahtzee you spattercocked strip of dog's testicle-oh god I DO impersonate Yahtzee. |
Muckraker Posts: 320 Joined: 18 Jan 2008 | Wow...simply wow. So a few people disagreed with his views in a review in a game, and we're opinionated assholes? Great job, kid, really. Flip out and shout at everyone who disagrees with you and say "you're opinion doesn't matter!!!" You'll make a lot of friends that way. Maybe the pot should look in the mirror before deciding that the kettle is looking a little too black. Most the folks on this forum can take opinions that differ from their own. Sure, they'll rip you apart if you make uninformed opinions, but they'll accept that you're entitled to your opinion. Certainly more than this cheeky kid. |

Did Yahtzee draw me to the sight, sure, that's probably why the escapist hired him--more traffic for their sight. Do I have to join the message board of every sight I read? No, of course not, what kind of shank thinks that way? Sure the signal to noise ratio has tanked during my tenure, with all those lists, polls, and other one line gibberish post-whoring nonsense--but so what? If you're just more noise, don't bitch about being called out on it. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 389 Joined: 29 Jan 2008 | Holy crap, did a newbie just leave?! Whoopty-do Basil! I find it hard to feel any form of sympathy (and it's not just because I'm an uncaring bastard-child). You logged on to the Escapist, buddy. Forgive us for having opinions and an appreciation of proper grammar. This isn't Gamespot. We're not mindless twatwaffles who will agree with everything you say. If you're looking for a bunch of yes-men to agree with every word that you type, become royalty. As for the audience sitting online 24/7, use your brain. Firstly, the majority of posters probably have jobs, and so can't be online all the time. Secondly, there are members from different timezones and hemispheres; What may be 2:30 am for you is mid-afternoon for someone else. Lastly, if we were all that devoted to making you feel bad that we'd stay online 24/7, we'd just go all out and PM you insults nonstop. People may not like your opinion...live with it.
Thanks, I'm glad to hear that |

Woah, there! Let's not get personal. No need for anyone to get upset. PR, maybe you could PM him? I'm sure he's got some vitriol he could spare you, if you promised to give it a good home. |

How dare you! You insult me so! I was joking when I said I wanted people to curse me... (cries) No, just go. You've done enough already.
I think you wouldn't be to far wrong. There's a good chance he's still here lurking the forums, seeing what kind of terror he's shocked us all with. So maybe I could catch up to him. |

I started coming to this site because I like Yahtzee (and I think it's fair to say everyone who visits this website does). But I, as an idiot would do, registered an account here because I was looking forward to having INTELLIGENT gaming discussions. But as I started doing so, I realized that everyone, I repeat, EVERYONE who visits this website is a stuck up asshole. Just as soon as I would post something there'd be someone probably sitting on this stupid website 24 hours a day waiting to put down someone's opinion. And at that point it hit me, "My opinion doesn't matter to anyone I know, why the FUCK should it matter to a bunch of people that DON'T know me?" And the latter became obvious as my opinions were shot down and trampled by a bunch of overweight dick-weeds who try their very hardest to impersonate Yahtzee as best they can by using the same exact words and mannerisms that I've heard him use.
Great job guys, you rock.
So here I sit at 2:30 in the morning writing about how much I hate all the independent fuckers who sit and jack off because putting others' opinions down makes them horny as hell.
So in the end, what is the escapist?
The escapist is the result of 1 opinion on 1 thing, that branched out into many opinions on many things. But alas! These points of view from, dare I say, "gamers" are nothing more than a bunch of retards with naught better to do than pretend that their opinions are more fact than the prior opinion they are attempting to overlap, when in the end of the day, IT DOESN'T FUCKING MATTER.
If you bothered to read this, know this:
I will not be returning to this site (save to watch new Yahtzee videos) and if you comment you are wasting your time. I hope you have a terrible day and realize that you are wasting your time giving your opinions to people who don't care about them.
With deep, deep disdain
~Orinel~
