(1) Nintendo vs. (5) Epic:

Nintendo: Nintendo continues its rampage with a win over Cryptic Studios, claiming a Third Round space. So far, Nintendo looks unstoppable.
Epic: The back and forth lead change ended with Epic coming out on top against id software. Can Epic rally the troops for a push against powerhouse Nintendo?

Gah, not these two, i want both out.

Nintendo gets this one because the gameboy Zelda games brought me much joy and Gears of War was the biggest waste of money i have ever had.

Epic Pinball.

Having that said, it's probably obvious who I've voted for, though I expect Nintendo to win this one as well. It's mainly gaming nostalgia for me :p

EPIC stands for (E)xcellence, (P)erfection, (I)novation, and (C)onviction. With all this qualities, how can they go wrong???????

Nothing against epic but Nintendo gave me Metroid and Zelda. Not voting for them would be like spitting in my mothers face.

Certainly nostalgia will get you to a point, and no once can forget the powerhouses like Metroid, Zelda, Mario. But in this industry if you can't continue to produce good content, you're out.

Fortunately, Nintendo has been able to consistantly produce quality, memorable games (minus the game cube but we'll forget that since it was so long ago) and the latest output of the WII just keeps reinforcing that.

UT is one of the best shooters ever, Nintendo has done a lot but the UT series pushes Epic over the top

Epic puts out consistently good games.

Nintendo does not (Mario Party 8 and Mario and Sonic at the Olympics, anyone?).

Epic gets my vote.

Nintendo just produce too much quality stuff for them to lose.

Epic have good stuff, but that's all it is half the time. Rarely do they release truly great games.

I voted more against Nintendo than for Epic... they haven't done anything original in their first party titles in a decade.

I can't wait for Mario Kart! Hopefully the same drinking games will apply from the old Mario Kart.

think about it,Epic comes with an open editor so by buying any unreal you are licensing your own copy of the engine.
ut3 has tons of mods tripling every day
UT2004 was fu**ing amazing you would need the best Internet ever and like 100 terabits hard drive to download 1% of it.
there mods that turn ut2004 and up in a car racing game, theres mod that turn it into mario game and even an army game. by buying any unreal you don't get one game you get thousands. the

For some reason there are tons of epic fans that register here and vote for them in every poll, even if the community here seems to prefer nintendo.

And yes, Unreal Tournament was just a ripoff of Quake.

Epic gives you quality games. Their metacritic scores are always very high.

...How is Nintendo losing? They're arguably the most popular company on the planet that doesn't crank out sports games year after year.

And Marcus Fenix shows Mario the business end of the chainsaw bayonet!

As for people stupefied at how Nintendo lost, evidence suggests that Epic got more votes.

I'm guessing because fanboys decide the most productive use of their time is to make dupe accounts to vote, but that might be because I'm bitter.

I think this man has nailed it. Sorry, my dear friend Nintendo, but statistically, your playerbase isn't old enough to register onto these forums.

Afterwards it's a disaster too, but that's Microsoft's fault with their Windows Live shit.

But the game itself is one of the most amazing gaming experiences I've ever had. And I've played quite a share of games you know ^^

Nintendo has an absolutely rabid fan base, so if there were any foul play (and I very much doubt there was), it would've worked for the plumber. What pushed Epic over the edge was they've been innovative over recent years. Whereas Nintendo has spent the last decade since Pokemon playing conservatively with their titles and only gambling on gimmicks, Epic has been pushing the envelope on graphics and physics in addition to producing some good games.

Yeah, they are arguably the most popular company that can put out a title that is complete shit and the Nintendrones will still eat it up and claim 'ZOMG GOTY'!

Quality > Quantity

Epic > Nintendo

Does anyone know of any games that Epic makes that can be considered "great"?

Please tell me so I can find it.

And don't say Unreal Tournament. That doesn't count in my opinion. Does Unreal Tournament even(or ul for you degenerates out there) have a single player campaign?

Oh and no one say Gears of War either. I'd rather watch snails race each other.

And I think Nintendo lost just because people compared the best of Epic to the worst of Nintendo. Which is crapp.

No one in their right minds can say that Gears of War is better than something as genre-defining as LoZ or Metroid. Hell, I think Kirby offers more fun than that repetitive and plot-holed mess of a shooter. Although Kirby is an awesome series anyways.

Hmm. I'd like to see the average post count of those who voted for Nintendo vs those who voted for Epic.

Nintendo fans are enthusiastic but ethical. I don't know about Epic fans, but - look at the subject matter of the games the two studios release. One caters to our desire for friendly happy cuteness; one caters to our desire for chaos and bloodshed. Leaving aside the electoral h4x0rz for a moment, I'm guessing Nintendo fans are nicer people. Pure speculation, of course.

Innovation, hmm. Well, let's see: in 2005, which would you have thought was a safer bet: investing in a completely new system for players to interact with games, breaking the comfort zone of your traditional market, and hoping not to repeat conspicuous failures from the past? Or investing in better graphics, with which to make the same sort of games that have always sold well but in a higher resolution?

You also mentioned physics...? You must be looking for Valve. Down the hall, second on the left.

People what is wrong with you all. Nintendo is truly superior and thats not an opinion, its practically a fact. Nintendo has brought so many classics to the table and change gaming altogether. You people are just being stupid to be honest if your voting Epic over Nintendo just because Nintendo decided to stop being the loser in the console races and appeal to more people now.

Now I am not doubting Epic to be a good developer, I mean they made good shooting games and...thats it really. If you wanna compare Epic's "epic" games of late to Nintendo heavy hitters of late, that would be a battle. But if you compare them for games they have done altogether, then Nintendo would mop the floor with every developer here. Makes no sense why Nintendo is struggling here. You dont enjoy the greatness of Nintendo simply because you refuse too.
