Mine is for turbine that doesnt have to come out with a totally new game just to fix some weak links in the system (GH-GH2-GH3) when there is a problem they usually take down the server for a few hours and bam its fixed everyone is happy and the best part we dont have to buy a new game! Leave it to the losing harmonix to call a false vote cry when they get stomped...

My game can beat up your game, and you're a great big poopy-head.

Folks, please read your posts and make sure they don't boil down to the above... because otherwise we'll all be too busy pointing and laughing to have a meaningful discussion.

Turbine is the only way to rock on. When will Harmonix figure that out. They should have stayed with real guitars and not toys.

Turbine & LOTRO > fake guitars and drumkits.

I'm sorry, but I've never been able to stand any of the games Harmonix has made or been associated with (Eyetoy? Seriously?). Turbine all the way.

Looks like Harmonix is getting creamed. This isn't even a contest anymore :) 30%+ lead? Just end it now.

Garbage console games will never beat out MMORPG due to the gigantic amount of online support (duh) they have. It would have been more interesting if this was Blizzard vs Turbine or Valve vs Turbine.

So am I to understand that if you like Turbine, then it's automatically assumed that you have multiple accounts? Really? That's what you think? How amazingly jealous you all must be. The reason Turbine is winning is because of a stronger fanbase and a very loyal one at that. Maybe you should ask why it is so popular and give their games a try, you might actually enjoy it.

Turbine for the deserved win.

It is a slaughter! Harmonix never stood a chance.. I have been an active player of AC1 since Beta and DDO Since its beta. Just when you think the ride is over..guess what? It is not over it has just begun my friend!!

Hmm.. a little over the top but.. I stand by it.

Turbine

How can you say no to Elves, Trolls, Rangers and the likes... WHILE STILL being 2007's game of the year?! (Beating WoW: BC thank you very much!)

While we all love GuitarHero, Star Trek, the various Half-Life games. Nothing beats everyone's favorite Tolken universe with award-winning gameplay!

I really love Harmonix and what they've done for the rhythm genre of the gaming industry. Nothing gets me going like rocking out to the original Guitar Hero. That said, after playing Lord of the Rings Online, I have to vote for Turbine. Sorry Smoke on the Water, but this one goes to Middle-Earth.

I play REAL guitars, thank you very much. This pairing is a no-brainer. Turbine (and a well-enacted version of Middle-Earth... okay, a part of it at the moment...) FTW.

Turbine..... Harmonix
Turbine....... Harmonix
Turbine!!
I must say, while I defiantly play more Lotro than any other game... I do enjoy Rock Band and GH. But lotro still is more satisfying for me. Both are good companies i'm sure. Both have dedicated fans and qualified developers. And both have had big successes and failures. But in the long run, i think that Lotro is a much better game.

GH is a great game. DDO is a great game. I play them alternately, depending on my mood. But DDO is definitely a stickier game that keeps my interest for longer periods, and doesn't make the tendons in my left hand hurt from all the strange contortions :) (bring on the masturbation jokes, kiddeez)

I agree with some of the others, if it was Valve against Turbine, I'd have an even harder time with this.

The fact that Harmonix ends up in second place, having beaten various MMOs to get there, is demonstrable proof that you are wrong about that.

Turbine is riding high right now on a great debut of LoTRO and some serious die-hard loyal DDO players. Next year, someone else will win.

I'd really just rather not see a party game producer win. I feel like the escapist is offering a service to the gaming community, not to people who hate games until they have guitars in them. I'm glad people feel this has opened up gaming to new members, but I fret (mmm bad pun goodness) that guitar hero isn't a gateway game, but rather an entirely separate entity.

I caught the first round of voting and I guess the last, but I am disappointed with where it ended up. I feel like there were better companies than either of these two on the list. I'd like to have seen Valve take this all the way, I really hope they didn't get dropped out early. Anyway, given the choice between a Turbine and Harmonix, I'm going to have to side with Turbine.

1.GH isnt really that involved with HMX.I'd base my vote on Rock Band.
2.The players of LotRO,AC,and DDO are connected to Turbine every day.On a console game,if there is a problem you sit down and deal with it or just return the game. With Turbine,if you think there is a problem, you report it,they add it to the list and will take the servers down at a convinient time and they fix it.
3.There is no box stuffing here. They have put a note on the game news panel so anyone who so much as clicked a game icon knew about it,not to mention every one that logged into the game or the forums knows.

I love both companies and their games, but i spend most of my time on LotRO.Plus,as a real guitarist,I blame HMX for all of the horrible people playing guitars because they got past a few Levels on Rock Band...so go Turbine:)!

What other MMO's have they beaten? SWG (Lucas Arts)? LOL. The fact of the matter is, only Turbine, Harmonix, and Bethesda have actually posted any form of an announcement asking for votes. In a way, this is a good thing because god knows this entire forum would be flooded by Blizzard voters if they were to put up an announcement.

Turbine, for me, again.

I have to say, this was a very hard choice for me. . . Took me about an hour to decide. . .

Harmonix did an excellent job on Rock Band. . . It made me love my drum set again, made me less shy to sing in front of people (I'm still rather quiet, however), and makes me want to buy an actual Bass and teach myself--once I have an income, of course. The online play is fantastic, in both competitive and co-operative. The downloadable content each and every week is awesome, and I love how every. Single. Song they pick just has that sense of unity to it, making the multiplayer experience that much more fun. To see Guitar, Bass, Drums, and sometimes even Vocals kick in at the same time, or play the same tune. . . To see that "UNISON BONUS" flash up when my bandmates play flawlessly. . . Man, sends a shiver down my spine.

But Turbine's got DDO, which has provided me with about a year and a half of roleplaying stories, friendships I can't forget, and an amazingly beautiful game to boot. I have created pages upon pages of stories, all because their game has made me appreciate Eberron and its lore (Which lore and stuff like that was a turnoff to me, after playing World of Warcraft and Forgotten Realms campaign.). The game is eye candy to log into each and every day, and none of the quests ever get old. With the addition of Monks coming soon, it's just geting better each day, like Harmonix's growing song list in Rock Band.

Both developers deserve my round of applause, but I have to give it to Turbine for one reason and one reason alone:

The community, and more specifically, the friends I have made over these past 18 or 19 months will stick with me for years and years to come--much longer than the amazing song selection and wonderful gameplay Rock Band has given me and my 3 closest friends every month or so in my basement. ;)

Isent SOE hated by its community?

And im very glad Blizzard dident post, sure i would only voet Double Fine and Valve over them. But those forums would make all the Turbine/Harmonix/Epic fanboys seem like polite rational people. No, the WoW community should stay in its place.

Harmonix is my pick. Guitar Hero II was the first of theirs I got, and Its one of the most fun games I've ever played, rivaling with my favorite FF, but thats besides the point. Rock Band is easily one of the greatest games released in the last decade. Its interactivity with people and above all THE DLC! They now have over 70 songs released for download! You can never put it down.

Turbine vs Harmonix is a good match-up, considering I love to play both of their top games.... however, I play on Turbine a LOT more than Harmonix and have never been bored of it yet! My vote belongs to Turbine! Good Luck!

I had to vote harmonix. Two reasons one Turbines game is just another copy of the same ole garbage we've seen for years, guitar hero was quite unique in idea.Plus the fix was in on Bethesda with the MMOers Turbines game is a complete rip off of what Bethesda did years ago with Daggerfall,Arena,Morrowind,Oblivion. This vote was supposed to be about developers Turbine has made nothing unique heck they even ripped off a book idea to create their game, then based it on a popular movie,Turbine gets two thumbs down.
