I figured since no one else would start it, that I will. I'm not even sure there are that many players or even a DM interested, well in a good aligned group anyhow.

EDIT Who wants to DM who wants to play?

Good/Neutral or just Good?

To be honest I should have just said "Not evil" but I was sleepy when I made this thread and not all of my neurons were firing. I can tolerate unscrupulous players but I have a knee-jerk response to stab, or more probably shoot, anything evil.

You talkin' about playing over these boards?
if so: www.invisiblecastle.com is a badass dice roller that allows you to log and track your saved rolls.

Also, I wouldn't use 4th if I were you... It hasn't even released in most palces yet

I would, but NWN is about as close to D&D as I've got. So I think I'd be better off just watching.

Crimeny I thought you said New World Neutral I was about to ask who you are, the madness behind this is the name of the store I go to, and how they typically behave in RPGs. I go to a store called New World games and comic and if you knew them you would know that their version of good would be translated pretty much anywhere else as chaotic evil with neutral good tendencies, New World evil is simply unspeakable, and generally involves creeping out anyone within earshot. Which is why we don't speak of it anymore.

Some good aligned people are sexaholics, look at nerds, but half-orc that's just creepy.

Fondant and I were talking about doing a Star Wars roleplay, so if you guys want to do one of those, I am willing to DM it...

But I was itching for an evil cleric, killing in the name of Venca is ever so fun...

You can worship Vecna it's almost like worshiping Anubis only with less laws involved.

so Neutral characters are good? also what races would we be allowed to use. I have an affinity for Tiefling, although I'm not sure if the campaign would allow it.

I mean to ask if Nuetral characters would be allowed? incase were wondering, my most rescent creation is Chaotic Nuetral Fey'ri Rogue/focused necromancer 5th level. My groups always started at 5'th level, just to make things go faster.

I'd join any DnD group that could fit me in; consider me signed up. Where to, what system?

I don't know I'm not running the group. I'm trying to get one together as well as a GM. I don't really care as long as the game isn't ONLY the main 3 books, because every GM I know that says the players can only pull stuff out of those books will eventually pull something out of on e of the later books, beat us over the head with it, and then not allow us to dig from other books.

I would like to play in 4e as I want to poke at it with a stick some. However not everyone took the time to go online to find a copy so I'll play 3.5 if we don't get a 4th ed group together.

Alright, how about this? I'll be the GM for any 4th Edition campaigns this thread manages to scoop together, unless anyone is absolutely chomping at the bit to run a game. If you're 3.5, I'd be glad to tag along. Consider this my show of hands. Er, hand.

Ok mighty GM what do you ask of your players?

EDIT: I'm totally playing a paladin of Thor, good aligned, foul tempered, and perhaps more than a little drunk I haven't decided yet.

EDIT EDIT: Probably elven I'll look at the racials again before deciding.

I think this counts as a successful thread hijack, and it's only my fourth post.

4th Ed: I'm the GM. Use the point-buy system on page 17-18 (I'd recommend 16, 14, 14, 12, 11, 8 from the chart on 18, but what am I, your mother?). All options are open to you besides Evil and Chaotic Evil, and as the hijacker of this thread (and thus your Captain speaking) I'd say go ahead and post your character so that I can get a good idea of the locations we'll be milling around in. Want to send a PM? Knock yourself out.

3rd Ed: I'm a player. Send me a PM telling me where to put up my character (probably a Neutral Good Elven Fighter or Ranger) and what stats I get.

Have your character describe himself like he's introducing himself to the party in some sort of strange, medieval fantasy job interview. I don't care what your mother's maiden name is; I do care about how he views the world, how he holds his class, and why he's dumb enough to venture outside of the palisade walls at Level 1. If you it's relevant, or if you're a particularly wordy guy like me, you can add a more detailed backstory.

First time I've D&Ded... I've got RP experience, but not D&D. I used the previous post as a template, if you don't mind.

Sounds good, and it sounds Good. By the way, as Kovash requested (and as the entire point of this thread), everybody in the 4e campaign MUST be either Good or Lawful Good (Chaotic and Neutral Good got folded into Good). If you'd like your character to be Unaligned, give me a good reason; that's not a threat, that's an invitation.

Portkins: Welcome to DnD! You've picked a helluva Edition to start. A few things:

Non-human characters start off with 2 At-Will, 1 Encounter, and 1 Daily Power, so go ahead and pick those (I see you've got Tide of Iron, a favorite of the Dragonborn in my RL group. ToI puts the "wade" into "wade into melee", especially when I throw Minions at him) At Level 1, just go with that sounds fun. You really can't lose; every power does something cool as well as dealing buckets of damage.

Also, Fighters can train in up to three skills, so go ahead and pick two from the remaining list of Endurance, Heal, Intimidate, and Streetwise.

Lastly, I'd kind of like everyone to point-buy their stats. It's a weird OCD equality thing I have. 4th Edition Point-Buy works like this:

-Everybody starts out with all 10's in their stats
-You have 20 points to burn
--You can optionally lower one stat to an 8 to get another 2 points
-11 costs 1
-12 costs 2
-13 costs 3
-14 costs 5
-15 costs 7
-16 costs 9
-17 costs 12
-18 costs 16
-Buying a stat is non-cumulative; having a 14 instead of a 10 costs 5 points, not 11.
-Buying stats comes before adding racial modifiers, which can be a cheap way of getting an 18 or a fast way of getting a 20.

Alright, thanks. I've updated my skills but I'm unsure if we'll do the points thing.. So I haven't done that yet. Also, powers.

Edit: I read up and re-realised you're the GM! Fixed my points..

I like how some of the classes gained gravity based powers, the ability to pull and push opponents around like so many rag dolls. I just see them being hurled gleefully through the air by us players, even if they can still kick our asses.

The problem with the later version of D&D is that for some reason they decided to make the game more complicated which it really doesnt need because D&D in itself can never be taken seriously, and that't not a bad thing but be ready for the fact that a D&D campaign is comedy roleplaying, at it's finest as well. Alignments are not really made for serious roleplaying, which is good because roleplaying in a D&D campaign is a one-way freeway to clichétown. Oh yeah, I had a point to this point, do excuse me, if you need to find more blokes for a group or what have you, especially expert advice can be found at the fear the boot forum, a roleplaying forum of especiall devotion to the lifestyle if it can so be called.

It can be found here: http://feartheboot.libsyn.com/
