NOTE: If you want to join send me a complete character sheet via PM after reading what we've got so far and deciding it's right for you.

You have all received word, whether by letter or whispers from associates, that a rich man is looking for some brave, competent men to complete some... legally debatable missions for a grand reward. Enticed - whether by desperation, greed, or curiosity - you have come to Braethwick, a small town sitting between the main road of the nation and a massive, ancient forest. At the centre of the town there is a cobbled square with an ornate fountain as it's defining feature. It seems the town's normal residents are all inside, but there are many other shady blokes and armoured warriors here, all waiting for the sun to reach it's zenith through the clouds.

When noon comes, an extremely well dressed woman enters the square, carrying a small chest. She's thin and tall. Beautiful, but cruel looking with dark purple make-up on her eyelids and a judgmental disposition. Silence falls over the small crowd as she steps gracefully onto the edge of the fountain, towering over many. She looks over the selection, one eyebrow lowered and a sneer twisting her fine features. "My name is Anya, and most of you won't be seeing me again," she said with relish. "Although you've all been called here, only a small portion will actually go to work for Laudicus Stene, and I" she smiled, "have been given the distinct pleasure of choosing whom."

She stepped down from the fountain's edge and the men nearest cleared away, giving her space. "You will form in a straight line in front of me, and you shall be given a piece of parchment. If your slip has a black mark please leave immediately, you are not wanted. If your slip has a red mark please stick around." The men all formed a line begrudgingly and as they stepped forward one by one Anya's eyes would flash and she'd hand them their parchment. There were many grunts and displays of dissatisfaction as warriors and thieves and spellcasters walked out of the square. A rather nervous looking man is in front of you, and as Anya lays eyes on him she smiles deviously and hands him his slip. "Ooh! I've got a red one!" he says cheerily. As you approach you are handed not a black mark nor a red one, but a white mark followed by instructions to go to a nearby inn and wait. Curious, you walk away but hide behind the edge of a building to see what happens next. More and more men are handed parchment and walk away, and two more men gleefully take their red-marked parchment and walk around to the other side of the fountain. As the last warrior leaves, Anya strolls over to the three men remaining, says "Spies! You should know better than to come here!" and slaughters them with amazing ease. Washing her hands in the fountain, she nearly catches sight of you, and you designate this a good time to make your exit.

Inside the inn there is a bartender, but no customers excluding a few other men with white-marked parchment.

(Go ahead and introduce yourselves. I can't progress the plot until you've developed some sort of relationship.)

What stats will we have, or would you like us to roll them up ourselves?

I'm now making another post to make sure this stays on the front page. But! I shall not let this post be in vain! I deeply encourage everyone to PM me if they're even the slightest bit interested, as we only have 3 or 4 people in the actual party so far. If you're afraid you can't play for a long time, join anyway and I can give you a grisly death. So step right up, I guarantee good times.

Might I take a third chance to suggest the following:

www.giantitp.com for the forum, it's dedicated to D&D, even has a built in roller.

www.invisiblecastle.com It's a website dedicated to rolling dice and savign them.

www.myth-weavers.com for the character sheets.

Stupid works browser. Can't manage Myth-Weavers site scripts my hairy arse. As long as that site works everything out for me, I'll be fine. If not, I'll be stuck creating my own character sheet (Which hopefully won't fail in some manner as the others do).

I swear, I want to punch everyone who makes .pdf character sheets in the face.

And with my tendency to create completely unoptimised characters, we should have a barrel of laughs as my guy flails around uselessly.

I'm with Blayze... My guy's not exactly winning any PvP matches. Fortunately, my guy's not above bribery.

No one likes a show off, Ultrajoe. If you can create a spreadsheet that will easily defeat our own spread sheets then great- but all this smacktalking is wearing thin.

Man, I haven't played for years, but I'll see if I can knock up a character in double quick time if there's still room.

Ooh, drama! Don't worry, Ultrajoe's just having fun. His character won't come in until another level or so anyway, and I'm not a cruel DM.

Okay, so far we've got The Inev, Zemalac, The Sorrow, Blayze, and Saskwach confirmed as main characters, PurpleRain will come in later, and Aries_Split, BeeL, and The Necroswanson are still working on it. We've also got Ultrajoe and the_root_of_all_evil as minor characters, and Singing Gremlin is rather unsure.

If you still want in it's not too late. I'm a little delayed right now with that pesky real life, so it might be a while.

I apologize for any 'smack-talk' appearances.

i brag only in how evil i will be and the mischief i will wreak... you guys i hope will come out the better for my involvement... the bad guy always has to lose... how else does he excuse doomsday weapon 2?

and trust me, my involvement is purely face-value only, as a minor character i would imagine that larenxis has my involvement and character already decided and i'm just here to flesh it out with juicy juicy text...

Or i could be wrong and i should get about making a character quick-smart.

BACKONTOPIC: i in no way brag about power, i'm only trying to build dramatic tension.

Don't have a good grasp of the rules, local bookstore doesn't sell rule books (anymore) and I don't trust any site to give me the rules.

Well mabey this one. Also I seem to have missed the deadline.

Edit: Should be fun to watch though.

I just got my character sheet finished. This looks like it's going to be very interesting indeed.

By the way, Ultrajoe...with all this foreshadowing, I wouldn't be surprised if someone decided to shoot you on sight and save themselves the trouble later on. I would never do such a thing, of course, but others may take it upon themselves to prove me right.

EDIT: corrected a typo

That's what I was thinking. Ooooo, if I wasn't too nice to metagame (and not so curious to learn what UJoe's going on about).

No, no, I was supposed to bring the Mischief. You were supposed to bring the napkins and potato salad.

Did you ever know that you're my hero, Saskwatch?

Had I known Ultrajoe had a minor role of dicking people over and not a major one, I wouldn't have lost interest. But I suppose it's too late now. I'll be watching on the sidelines, I suppose. I don't think I'd make a good evil character anyway...well, the people who face me in a game of Descent say otherwise...

Damnit. I always get something wrong. Don't worry, I think I keep some napkins on me at all times. Safety reasons.

Well thanks Necrohydra, but it's Saskwach. It's amazing how many people miss out that out, though I guess it makes more sense that way.

A gnome, who'd entered the bar later than all others, surveyed the still faces of the bar's patrons and, seeing no one had introduced themselves, grinned wickedly and climbed onto the front bar. He unwrapped a compact guitar and began singing a bawdy folk tune in the manner of one who had mastered the form.
"My name is Rofefil, Semong,
and my service and calling is song,
so if you'll just confess,
to your name and profess-
-ion I'm sure we can move things along."

OOC: That's See-mong Roe-feff-ill if you were wondering.

Eyeing the bar and its other shady-looking occupants, Luja's attention is drawn to the gnome cavorting on top of the bar - and possibly about to draw the ire of the bartender if he breaks anything. Going along with the singing midget's plan to break the ice more out of idle curiosity than anything else, he shouts out after the gnome's verse comes to an end.

"Luja Kiono - Professional Bastard!"

A man sat a the bar, very pale skin, long blond hair and piercing blu eyes, who had a full plate of armour all black with a silver outline of a spier on the chest. Seemed more annoyed than impressed of the song sang from what he thinks is a child in need of discipline, but after he hears the remark of Luja he can't help but smirk and decides to respond, so he stands up and walks over to what he thinks is a child.

"They call me Velve. My profession is killing, but it's also my hobby. Now I'm sure it's past your bed time and that your parents are worried, little boys shouldn't be in inn's at this time of night. There are lots of BAD people out there, and especially in here, so why don't you just scamper of to home"
