OOC: Hum. Alright Zem, bearing in mind I have a cunningly sick and twisted plan to threaten Deus Enterprises' CEO, and am outside his penthouse now, what does that mean? That he's just gonna stutter that he doesn't own it anymore?

I think Jimmy White was the company's CEO, wasn't he? Might be hard threatening him. You're probably going after some other important official, some board of directors guy. Don't worry, Deus is still intact, it's just the guys who were formerly in charge of it now report to Cybernet. It's sort of the same way EA keeps on buying small companies--we keep the brand name because people trust it, but now Cybernet get's all the money.

EDIT: Never mind, it appears that Jimmy was the owner of the company, but not necessarily the CEO. Carry on with your nefarious schemes.

To straighten all arguements, I'll step in and say, Deus Enterprises has no CEO at current but a large board of directors who are now pulling their hair out. Cybernet (or Cybertech? I don't remember. Some GM I make) is taking this and pushing hard for dominace over the industry.

Sorry for the lack of updates. I've got my hands full but I'll hit you guys with some major plot points soon.

Zalis turned over in his bed, and tryed to scrach his head. His arm remained still, then the power core reactivated and he punched himself. Swearing he sat up in bed, looking around Zalis started grining.

Zalis heard a cough from the room next to him, allways hacking from the bottoms up had made his knowlage of Ruben's voice needed incase he walked pass and found Zalis taking apart his bars matrix ports.

'He's on the list, I better say hello'.

OOC: Ok, well I'll go after an unspecified director who has become an impromptu leader of the company. My business knowledge isn't up to scratch, but I assume that would work just about. Gonna nip back and edit my target stuff, then post my grand finale of this gem of cunning.

IC: Gremlin took a deep breath, and got out of the van. He made for the doors in that particular stride of civil servants; fast enough to tell they were busy on an important errand, not fast enough for it to be important enough to raise concern. He pushed through the double doors and made for the entrance desk, it was a quiet night and no-one else was around. At the help-desk sat a young, slim, beautiful woman. Gremlin smiled, his luck was just too good to be true. She had been regarding him with some suspicion, but mistaking the smile for a friendly gesture, smiled back at him.

Reaching the desk, Gremlin placed his hands down, and spoke, his voice again flat and neutral, no hint of the Spanish accent. "Good evening" he smiled "I am John Flow, of the water services department. I apologise for running off the schedule here, but we have something of a need to check this building." he passed her his ID card, and she ran it through the system. Of course, it came up green, but the suspicion had not left the receptionist's eyes. Why suddenly clicked into place in Gremlin's mind, "please, do not be alarmed by my appearance. The company often hires those of reptilian genes for the more... delicate work." He was rewarded by the suspicion in her eyes turning to alarm.
"Delicate? How do you mean?"
"Well, for example if a pipe bursts, those of cold blood are less affected by being drenched in scalding water. Or, more to the point, if water is... contaminated, it is much less likely to filter through scales than skin."
The alarm became outright fear.
"Contamin- you're not saying this building could be...?"
"I am not yet in a position to say; that is what I am here to determine. But I promise you I will work quickly and discretely." He leant forward, suddenly almost conspiratorial. "But there is a minor lapse in the regulation. As I am sure you know, generally we work out of sight in the bowels of the building. However, this time we fear the contamination may have been aimed at specific areas, nanobots in the water supply programmed to only release their payload of C into the water of certain rooms; likely this is why you have not noticed it."

She nodded. "What rooms?" she asked, quietly. "The penthouse." Was Gremlin's reply. "We fear drug dealers intend to use its resident's addiction to C to control his company, a bad situation to say the least." He explained, and oddly some relief came into her eyes "That's good" she nodded "The penthouse's occupant has been away on business for a long time, he's returning much later tonight, and he's kept his family elsewhere since they received a death-threat recently. No-one's touched the water supply there for weeks."

Gremlin blinked. He hadn't even had to ask. Quickly recovering composure, he nodded, then gestured. "Please, show me to the penthouse. I do not wish to miss a pipe from unfamiliarity. She nodded, and briskly led the way. When they reached the penthouse, Gremlin noted two armed guards outside the door, and bit his lip, this made things more complicated. Ah well, only one thing for it. "You two, come with us. I may need more people to help with the finer work; multiple valve usage and so on." The guards looked questioningly at the receptionist, who nodded. They all passed through the door, Gremlin trailing behind. Once into the privacy of the penthouse, he drew his pistol and with three deft shots dispatched all three. He paused. Live guards, not so anymore. Security only covers the lobby and entrances, he was past there. His only worry was that someone would notice the missing personal. He could only hope not, it was quiet after all.

Moving quickly, he hid the bodies of the guards, and turned his attention to the receptionist. He dragged her to the bedroom, and drew open the wardrobe. His eye lighted on the red dress from the picture. Smiling his malicious smile, he dressed her in the dress, and stood back to admire his work. The body was similar enough, but the face would give it away. Well, easily dealt with. He drew the small explosives from his belt.

Half an hour later, the businessman returned. On entering his bedroom, he found, nailed to the wall in the crucifix position, a woman in his wife's clothing, her head seemingly blown apart. A letter hung from what remained of her neck. He read it with trembling hands.

Dear Director of Deus Enterprises,
It seems as if we have a problem, you have something that I want and frankly, I intend to get it. If you are reading this, you have probably been in touch with a very close friend of mine, in fact you are probably in the same room as him, if everything has gone to plan. Let me break it down, I want the company of the late Jimmy White, the way I see it, you find a way to lower your share price, or I'm sure my friend will be able to find a way to lower your life expectancy. Send your response with my cohort, Either way, the Stock exchange should tell me whether you've accepted my proposition.

Regards,

-M

He looked up, slowly, turned to find Gremlin standing right behind him, a manic grin on his features, and a pistol levelled at his head. "I wouldn't do anything rash. Now I will tell you something. That is not your wife. Your wife and children are safe and blissfully unaware of anything wrong. But I could change that. I would advise doing as the letter asks." The businessman nodded, clearly shaken, and Gremlin smiled. "Good. And remember, your family are all very, very fragile. Tell anyone, and that fate you see there, would be a kind one." He turned, and left.

Marx was asleep at his desk, a half empty bottle of fine scotch sat on the table. Marx was not drunk, but tired, he had to deal with alot in a small space of time and anxious of how his plan was unfolding. All of a sudden the light of his computer screen flashed on, the computer was auto running a media file and opening a file sent directly to his computer, the address was from the Deus Enterprises. Marx sat up, fully alert.

...Just recently, a financial adviser for DE has leaked the company is in serious financial debt and the man stated that the company would soon be in bankruptcy, which lead to a massive drop in the share price...

Marx smiled, brining up the sent content, Marx soon discovered that the share price had literally crashed, never in history had a company's shares price dropped so harshly and steeply.

Marx was full of triumph, he pulled up the stock Exchange and placed a bid for 100% of the shares for DE, he watched the icon appear and then disappear, noting the process was complete. That Gremlin man was good at what he did, Marx pulled up the messaging device again.

Somewhere in the city:

Gremlin's belt beeped, he flicked the small device off it, almost lazily;
Good work, Your reward is just deserved, I'll be in touch.

Bakerfield glared at the message on his computer screen. More complications! he thought. Deus Enterprises stock had crashed and an outside individual had bought all of the avalible stock. Meaning that someone else had effected a takeover of the company. Bakerfield's superiors at Cybernet were understandably angry that their bid for control of their compeditor had been thwarted. Their message to Bakerfield was brief and to the point.

Find out who interfered. Deal with them. Proceed with the takeover of Deus Enterprises. We will not tolerate further competition from this sector.

Bakerfield nodded grimly. Since he was the one working on Cybernet's DE special project, and since he had first suggested the attempted takeover of the industry after Jimmy White's death, his superiors apperantly assumed that he was the best equipped to deal with this. If Deus Enterprises got its act together enough to resume providing competiton to Cybernet, Bakerfield would be held responsible.

He trawled the databases, searching for information.

OOC: My posting might be a little erratically timed for a couple of weeks. It will depend on whether or not I can get internet in whatever hotels I'll be in.

"I came as soon as I heard you were here," He laughed a little,
"I haven't spoken to anyone besides the nurse and my driver, I believe that it was probably better that way." The nurse hadn't shown her face again since he sat down, but the others kept checking in every so often.

OOC: I'm going to try keep up aswell but a bunch of my old friends are in town and If I can type coherently after a night with them then I'm obviously not drinking enough.

"So you dont know how Ashely is? Then I guess I'll just call her later.". Saren leaned over to Ruben, and whispered "Take this disk, and get someone to make sure its readable and safe. It could lead us to the person who sent that package, maybe they also had that C addict attack me.". The disk was slipped into Rubens pocket, and Ruben began to ask how Saren could have gotten such a thing. "Dont ask... its better that way." Saren replied, suddenly tired. She leant back onto her pillows to rest, waiting for Rubens answer.

Zalis continued to listen to Saren's talk with Ruben with intrest. Look at the wall he noticed the lights were dull, as if on low power.

'How long have I been out?' Zalis thought now feeling uneasy, he couldn't get a clear link to the matrix so all of his hacking skills were worthless untill he left the hospital or get a open connection.

Easykill went to his new quarters, satisfied with the day's events. He'd arranged for the trap to be set at his old residence earlier, it was probably done now. All his interests had been safeguarded, he was even under the protection of a mob boss now, although that was a fragile shield as of now. He sat on the chair facing the door and logged into the matrix, he felt like playing a game or two.

Sorry guys but I'm pullin' out. I haven't been able to get on for the past few days due to company showing up unexpectedly and I figure I'm too behind to get back into the plot. Rain, if you want to you can use Galt however you feel, I just don't see how I could wedge him into the plot now without disrupting the current arc. Anyways, great to play while I could.

IC: 'Not long enough for what your saying to be understandable, so just ignore me or tell me if anybody else is dead, last guy I know about is, sorry, was Rains bodygaurd.' In his eye Zalis saw "Saren" hover above Saren's head.

Saren looks over this odd character, and makes her decision. "Whats your name?" after he tells her, she launches into what she knows. She finishes with her being in the hospital, and she falls back onto her pillows, exhausted. Saren wonders when her strength will get back, she hates being so inactive... and hates the lack of C. "So, I need someone to check this disk I have been through so much to get. If your offering, Zalis, be careful. Some sort of Government program managed to push itself onto the disk as well, and I have a feeling its not nice.".

OOC: Damn, another bites the dust or so the song tells me. How about you die in a mall fighting zombies with your own limbs? =P

Third Murder:

Gremlin began to hum his little jig as he began to pass out of Deus Enterprises. Making his way to the lobby he saw that attractive receptionist run up to him.
'Oh crap,' he thought to himself.

"Excuse me sir," she called out to him.
"I wasss just going to my van. The water levelss might be touching critical. You don't need to worry, I'll get my-"
"No, sir. You need to worry."
Gremlin stopped walking and turned to her. 'Does she know?'
"Security footage has altered the police to your presents over the deaths of the three bodyguards and saw you entering the head Director's, Hubert Longman's, private quarters."

Gremlins stomach sank as the weight of the world crashed down upon him.
"E-exsscuse me?"
"I'm sorry, but you're already surrounded. Hand over your weapon so we don't have to make a scene."

Civilians backed away as five security officers approached him from all sides with their pistols drawn. The woman held out her arm to take his gun.
In a panic Gremlin whipped out his own pistol and grabbed the woman! Running for the door, with the woman in his arm, he fired off at the guards who took cover. Two police vehicles landed outside as armed officers ran out to greet him. One of the floodlights shone down on Gremlin as the vents from the vehicles blew around his trench coat.

"Drop the woman!" Shouted one of the officers with his pistol drawn!

"Fuck yo-"
Loosing grasp of the woman under his arm, she grabbed him by the hand and disarmed him. She pulled out her own pistol and pointed it at Gremlin's face.
Gremlins mind raced, but he knew all was lost. Giving up he raised his arms as a police officer tackled the transhuman to the floor. The police officer began to beat into Gremlins face for a few turns before handcuffing him. Spiting blood and a loose tooth on the floor, Gremlin knew that Marx could get him out.

Meanwhile, Marx was sitting triumphantly at his desk with his feet into the air. Not a lot stood in his way know. Owning the majority of the shares made him the most powerful member on the board. A few more bodies and he would basically gain the title of CEO and a nice sum of cash. Gremlin had done a wonderful job and- a small creak of a floorboard rang off behind him. The cold steel of a pistol lay against the back of Marx's neck.

"So, I'm next?"
"I wish you didn't have to. Deus Enterprises was always going down. It made a lot of people unhappy."
The voice was cold and muffled through the use of some voice modulator.
"We can work together," Marx said not daring to turn around.
"It's too late. Deus Enterprises have left the game."

The bullet torn through the spine and neck. The exit wound tore the entire front end open, gushing crimson red around the room. Blood filled Marx's lungs, but his spine was already torn.

The figure, pushing the body off the chair opened up Marx's computer. The information still on the screen. A few simple alterations to the screen and the Deus shares had become corrupted. Soon, the business will fail.

The figure left the room.

OOC: Sorry for being mean, but the worse off character situations are the more tense the scenarios. Also, I know you can't exactly corrupt shares, but it's the future. Dig it.

OOC: Up to you guys. Gremlins off to jail, do not pass go, do not collect $200. He's not dead and up to playing. The convoy hasn't reached the prisons and he is a hacker. Even still, you may be able to bust him, bargin with the cops or go through a courtroom hearing. All the options are open. At the moment, noone knows of Marx's death, but the crash of Deus is all over the news.

Gremlin, sitting in the back of a police van, swore quietly. "Bit of trouble, Amigo." he hissed in displeasure. Maybe, just maybe, he could do something to help himself. Glancing at the officers watching him warily, he grinned, and shut his eyes. He tried to enter the matrix, and to his surprise, it worked. He still wasn't left with many options, but it was a chance. He spread word that a high-profile criminal and killer was being transported to prison. Maybe some lawless types would break him out for the hell of it, though it was unlikely. Next, he sent a message to Ruben. He hadn't totally stabbed him in the back, after all. Just a bit of a break. Finally, he tried to hack into the traffic computers, setting the local area's traffic lights to go haywire. With any luck, that might buy him some time.

He hadn't even had time to get paid.

OOC damnit. I guess I did alright, but I only accomlished 3/4 of what I could of done on that plan haha.

Is it okay if I provide a scenario where in the circumstances of gremlins capture, that he is granted bail by my corporation, which goes tactfully unnamed?

If so;

Ic-
Gremlin just managed to unplug from the matrix before the guards opened the doors of the van where he was taken through the back exit of a Grey building and at last thrust into a small room, with a glass table and two glass chairs, his mind racing. Gremlin, at first, paced the room, wondering what would become of him, his thoughts ran wild.
Gremlin didn't know how much time had passed when the door handle clicked and the door snapped open, gremlin looked up from the chair to see a man in a suit with a brief case.

Gremlin watched as the man walked to the opposite side of the table and sat down, his eyes focusing on the briefcase.

"So amigos, what's the deal?" Gremlin asked, his face blank and unreadable.

"You're free to go. Your personal belongings can be collected at the front desk on your way out."Came the man's reply.

"Wha- I am free?" Said gremlin, stunned.

"Yes free, courtesy of a Mr Marx. Apparently a hacker broke into the surveillance of the building you were working in and fixed your identity to a gang member who threatened a major CEO of DE. Which in turn created the stock exchange crash."Explained the man.

"What, the stock exchange crashed, how long ago amigos?" Came the quick reply from gremlin, his hands being uncuffed by a guard.

"A few hours now, not too long ag-, where are you going, I need you to sign these papers..."

"Not now, Thanks for bailing me out, I knew I was innocentsss." Came the reply as gremlin rushed out of the room, pausing quickly to grab the few things that the police managed to find, he walked out of the building to find himself on the street.

OOC- Sorry for hijacking the story, Gremlin, You were bailed out by a letter sent by my employee's containing damning evidence that a mysterious hacker and a gangland junkie were the culprits of the intimidation and the murder, you're free to go but i'd lay low for a while. Also, you're on the street in front of the police department building, make it what you will.

Thank you for letting me play it's a pity I didn't make it as far as i'd hoped :D

Edit: Fixed so it makes sense with Gremlin's post, sorry for the hijack again... :(

The televison was flashing with a news story, covering some disturbance at Deus Enterprises. Ashely was watching this, lying upside down on the couch with her head touching the floor. She was wondering why Saren hadnt called her, or why the number she had given Ashely wasnt working. Little did she know that it was working, five feet under foul sewage water. As Ashely began to find another comfy spot to lie in, a message appeared on a wrist communicato she had found with Sarens note. Ashely read this, and was horrified to learn that Saren was in hospital, with mortal injuries. This caused Ashely into a panic, and she grabbed a jacket and small knife, and left the apartment.

~

Saren tried to stay awake long enough for the two to direct their attention to her, to ask some important questions but her eyes were like lead weights. She fell asleep in the hospital bed, and was back in her own nightmare.

OOC: Should we update the list so that active participants are shown? Oh, and tough break Gremlin, I'm sure you will make it out. See you everyone, I'm going to bed.

After Ruben had got the message from Gremlin he sent out a few of his own messages to some of his contacts in order to remove any evidence that Gremlin was tied to the crime, even though it had nothing to do with him Gremlin could still be traced back to him. He was watching his own back as well as giving Gremlin the freedom to do what he pleased without suspicion. As far as the records were concerned Gremlin was at an interview at his bar for a job placement during the crime.

Gremlin wandered into the Bottoms up a few hours later, dressed in his ordinary clothing and looking distinctly shell-shocked. He sat down at the bar, and waved vaguely at Jonas, then the whiskey. When it arrived, he downed it straight off, and waved for another from the grumbling bar-tender. Cradling it in his hands, he sat staring at the wall. He blinked.

"What the hell just happened?!"

Bakerfield watched the newsfeed on his computer, feeling a strange mixture of relief and dissapointment. On the one hand, Deus Enterprises would never again be a compeditor to Cybernet. On the other hand, his attempt to take over the company had failed before it had really begun. He supposed that his superiors would be satisfied with this turn of events. Bakerfield himself...he wasn't sure how he felt.

He turned his attention to more practical matters. Deus Enterprises sold the highest quality cybernetics in the city, and with their fall there was no way of knowing whose hands those superior designs would end up in. Bakerfield decided that even though he had not been able to provide his superiors with the company, perhaps he could aquire the blueprints for a few of Deus product line.

He scanned a list of possible agents to hire.

Jack was watching the Roller Ball game on the bar's small TV. He didn't care much for sport but any excuse to forget the danger he was facing became incredibly appealing.

During the break time in which the dead players where taken off the court a breaking news update flashed up on the screen. Jack was about to turn his attention back to his drink when something caught his eye-

Was that Deus Enterprises...no it can't be...wait...it's that lizard fellow...shit!

Jack took finished his drink and ordered another one when he saw Gremlin enter the bar.

"What the hell happened?!" The lizard man asked to no one in particular.
"Hell I could ask you the same thing, and no sudden movements".

I'll keep this short.

I hate to be the umpteenth guy to drop out, but I've been busy, it's hard to catch up and my father currently is in the hospital (i'm there now on a wire) so it's going to be that much harder to catch up.

Good luck everyone...and like Galt, I hope Kash meets a fitting end...
