Anonymous Source Posts: 2 Joined: 7 May 2008 | Goodness, if these were the better of the e-mails you received about SSBB, I'd hate to see what didn't make the cut. I shudder to think what you're going to do to GTA IV, given your tendency to carve apart universally acclaimed games, you rugged iconoclast you. |

lol did the bad man make you cry? If a game needs flaming to hell, it'll get flamed to hell, if it deserves praise, it'll get praise. |

Anonymous Source Posts: 3 Joined: 19 Aug 2007 | Well, that was quite enjoyable indeed. I wrote games reviews for 20 years for a living and never got comfortable with boiling it all down to a score. I tried to convince my editors that we didn't need scores; that people are intelligent enough to parse the text and come to a conclusion on their own. But oh no, they insist on scores. During the past 10 years or so, scores have (at least in my country) suffered a massive inflation. While magazines use a scale of 0 to 100, it's only the range of 70 to 100 that's actually being used anymore. Give a score of 70 to a game and its distributor will cross your name off the list. Even a score of 80-something is sometimes seen as killing sales. Ridiculous. One more thing that really irked me back in the day: why can't people realize that games reviews, even professional ones in glossy magazines, are only opinions? Opinions just like yours, nothing more, nothing less. They're not some sort of a Universal Truth that everyone must agree with. Sheesh. |
Paperboy Posts: 19 Joined: 14 Jan 2008 | I enjoyed it; although I can see behind your smoke and mirrors Yahtzee buying time for GTA4 (Probably wasn't as subtle as I thought it was actually). Although if your not careful your going to get caught in a circle with hate emails from this review and the next one e.t.c. Liked the Gamespot comment; I swear they can't give a game less than 7/10. Also any chance your white enough to buy me a few consoles? |

Wow you must be desperate to see everything on the Wii fail, just to let you know I have Mario Kart, I think it is alright, but I would rather play The World Ends With You |

As I said on my first post: he is acting like one of those childish fanboys he is criticising. If he hates so much recieving so much hatemail why keep calling for more like a masochist? The review it's done! nice job! You have your opinion and I have mine, it's fine. But If you can't stand those fanboys just delete their mails and don't reply them like a little child on a quarrel on the school's playground. |

American spelling is different from Canadian. Canada spells many words with a "u", such as neighbour, colour, favourite, etc. I think the "z" is Canadian too - I have my Microsoft Word set to Canadian English, and it's showing that "customize" is acceptable. Maybe some British spellings are the same as Canadian? |
Paperboy Posts: 48 Joined: 14 Feb 2008 | If there isn't actually a review of a game in here I will be very disappointed with Mr. Croshaw for a very long time. Because this is either a sign of him running out of ideas or him just being a childish jackass. Seriously. You don't respond to hate mail. EVER. You know what's going to happen now. MORE HATE MAIL. I suggest that Mr. Croshaw should just change his email and stop POSTING THE FUCKING THING. He never should have put the damn thing up. |
Paperboy Posts: 27 Joined: 15 Mar 2008 | wait a minute, loveyboy, you reviewed a review of reviews of your previous-but-one review? Shirley, this cannot be right. Erm, you're still angrier than a petrol-soaked sack full of British Bulldogs chewing wasps, and I like it. Is it true you didn't change any of those Fanboys' names? Ironically, amid your lava, there was not one single revelation about who's really developing UFC 2009 (another fight game), according to a recent video interview with UFC fighter Marcus Davis, fresh out of mocappy laserscan. mwua-ha-ha-haaaaaaa |

The point is, he didn't review SSBB. He set bait. And this weeks video proves people took the bait. Hilarious. |

Yachtzee is an entertainer. By doing this, he entertains a hell of a lot of people. I can understand him not wanting to step down and let a bunch of ADD riddled 12 year olds annoy him without recourse. If you don't like the humor, go somewhere else. Internet forums aren't the place for mature discussion, that much we know. |

I happen to love FFXII. :) If you didn't like it, then that's your loss. Not everyone liked it. I thought it was great. But yes, killer reviews. I tune in each week, and my boyfriend (who knows a bit more about games than I do) often agrees with most of what Yahtzee says. |

Nononononono, you're completely missing the entire point of these reviews, those comments and of a sharp sword. The mail wouldn't have pissed me off, it'd have made me laugh, as I'm assuming it did with Yahtzee, now, replying to these ridiculous letters make for comedy, pointing out how daft most of the points they make are. and you made a funny about my name, well done. Really. Must've taken all day to come up with something as witty and well thought out as that. |

If you disagree with what Yahtzee is doing, and call him a "troll", this begs the question: why the hell are you here? If you don't like Yahtzee, to be perfectly honest, NOONE CARES. I apologize if this seems overly harsh, but I'm tired of forum gnomes with too much time on their hands bitching and whining for NO REASON AT ALL. You probably know that your whining will achieve nothing. So why do you keep doing it? (edit: and you called the guy you responded to an asshole, while trying to pretend that you're the mature one? You really are a hypocrite twat) |

Frankly, I prefer the humor from his old reviews to the "let's behave like a troll" kind of humour. |

He said 'afford', but yes. He did. And is. |
Muckraker Posts: 242 Joined: 10 Feb 2008 | Meh, as someone who tried to defend the game from Yahtzee's review a bit back, I can say that I found this genuinely hilarious. I thought it was really, really smart to not attack the fan base in general, to respond to specific emails, etc. I felt more like I was on a Comedy Central Roast of _____ as opposed to feeling like I was under attack. That's important because Yahtzee was able to answer criticisms without alienating his own fan base---though heaven knows if he really wants us around anyway! |

im not sure whether that reply means you liked or detested the review. As you call me a butthurted reviewer for posting that i like the review |

As I have said SEVERAL TIMES already, NOBODY ASKED YOU what you preferred. Yahtzee isn't going to come and say "oh, renard, do you want me to change how I do my reviews, to suit your personal preferences?" He would say a lot of things, none of them polite. If you no longer like Yahtzee's humor, know that he isn't going to change it on your account. And pissing off the people that do like the humor isn't going to help your case. |

On the bright side, you seem to be more literate that 90% of the fanboys Yahtzee had to deal with. |

He doesn't want fanboys around, he's made that abundantly clear. Yahtzee's fanbase consists of people who are tired of ignorant fanboys infesting the internet, and who enjoy seeing them get their asses handed to them. Are you honestly so naive that you think anyone even CARES about your opinion on a videogame? A word of advice: they don't. |

I agree with the people who said things similar to this for the most part. SSBB was awesome for me, but I still laughed my ass off at Yahtzee's review. My point still stands though. If he's going to do things like this anymore, I might just leave. I come here to find out whether a game is ok or not and laugh. I DON'T come here to listen to him complain (or whatever he does in this one) about hate mail. Only one of my wants will be satisfied then. What I'm saying is this: The point of these videos originally was to review games and make people laugh. By throwing in this video he has added this one ingredient to the great stew and almost turned it into shit stew. One more of these and Zero Punctuation will no longer have its original greatness. Has he even done a DS game review yet? |

maybe stop being a butthurted reviewer after 3 reviews of trolling and calling for more hatemail instead of letting it die?
