Yeah unfortunately, all I can do is laugh at you, you call everyone who goes on the internet to post in forums losers, yet you are insulting yourself at the same time, because you are posting in the forums, sure you may have a life outside of this, like everyone here. But if you're here to contradict everyone posting their opinions, then you are more of a loser than those posting their opinions |

Maybe it's just me, but I've never been so bowled over by one of Yahtzee's reviews that I figuratively (or literally) pissed myself or fallen out of my chair from laughing so hard. Don't get me wrong, his videos are enjoyable, but I just chuckle or smirk a little. But that's beside the point. It still amazes me how people defend SSBB so devoutly. My roommate hates the Wii, and I know brining him a copy of Brawl isn't going to change his mind, so I don't bother. (Though in all actuality, he hates it not because of console loyalty to Microsoft or Sony, or the lack of innovative and fun games--it's because he doesn't want to have to move while playing video games.) |

See, now that made sense. Apart from the rather bizarre reference to a Barbie game. I like Yahtzee's reviews, irrespective on whether he deems them good or bad, he raises fair points, often ones overlooked by other reviewers. With the Brawl review, however, I felt he left out a lot of its content, and a lot of the comments he did make were applicable to fighting games in general and not so much Brawl. (Also, having to unlock characters? Really?! Thats a flaw now?) Generally, I think it was so half-assed it was meant as some kind of punishment for people who requested it, or perhaps just to bait fanboys into embarassing themselves (which there is certainly evidence of now!). With hindsight though, he probably just didn't want to play it/review it, now he has nailed his colours to the mast and is defending his right to his not-quite opinion. |

Exactly. It's like that Jaywalking segment on The Tonight Show. People don't want to see the passersby on the street get the questions right, so they just show the idiots who couldn't tell the difference between Jesus Christ and Charles Manson. |

Anonymous Source Posts: 2 Joined: 7 May 2008 | To be honest, Yahtzee wouldn't have got half the complaints about his review of SSBB if he: 1) Didn't review it in the first place because he didn't want to. I can name a few faults in SSBB, but unlike Yahtzee's complaints, mine are legitimate and actually exist, and I haven't even played the sodding game. So this latest Zero Punctuation was basically him trying to defend himself against dozens of people who were angry at him for giving SSBB not just a bad review, but a bad review highlighting non-existant faults, and personally, I don't blame those people one bit. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 1 Joined: 7 May 2008 | I felt i should say something. When i watched Yahtzee's review of Super Smash Bro's Brawl, despite my personal feelings towards the game (Excellent, but thats neither here nor there), if found this short review very amusing and slightly informative. I was greeted at school the next day by fellow members of The Nerd Crew, all of which were whining, and complaining about it. It seems to me people have missed the point somehow. You will have to forgive me for this, Yahtzee but i do not see these video's as a serious critique, but as a part comedy. I do not watch these reviews to be enlightened on new games, and to be convinced to either buy, or deny games, but to be made laugh for a few minutes every week, which i sort of asumed was the point. Hence the reason he does not use scores, and uses the amusing cartoons in the background. I saw everything in the 'SSBB' review as nothing short of professional, when bearing in mind the general point. The reason i did not say this at the time is since i see very little point in commenting. Come on, i loved Smash Bro's, but i do not go bitching to someone who has a different opinion, and is that not a critics job? To share an opinion? Finally, please people that do comment harshly, at least make them constructive critisisms, not mindless insulting dog fight, as soon as 'twat' or 'You suck' is used, the statement looses all credibility. Keep up the good work, Yahtzee ^-^ |

well, having the so-much-hyped characters as unlockable characters instead of letting the rabbid players get their hands on them from the begining... I think that's like having a cockslap with a cricket bat... |
Paperboy Posts: 21 Joined: 7 May 2008 | Well, I liked Brawl but there's no way you're gonna have fun if you don't have friends who can play with you who are also interested in playing. Just like there's no point in playing a first-person shooter with friends if they're not interested in playing a first-person shooter and are only doing it for your sake. I don't think Yahtzee's review of SSBB was all that bad. I think he said RELATIVELY good things about the "story" mode and I think he also mentioned that he put in enough effort into the game to unlock characters and become... one of those guys. I think the fact that anything in his review came out sounding somewhat positive is a good thing considering it's a Yahtzee review. |

So, you've not played the game, yet know the faults Yahtzee came up with don't exist? Yahtzee highlights what is essentially a massive FUCK YOU from brawl which is PLAY AS SONIC (after countless fucking HOURS playing, FFS I finished GTA4 before my friend unlocked brawl fully. (and by that I mean got all the characters)) when shit like that happens it's not fun (which brawl is supposed to be), as you're doing the same shit, fighting the same fucking people on the same fucking level over and fucking over until you get a message going "you've played long enough, have a character that 0.1% of westerners give half a fuck about, oh BTW sonics still a fuckload of hours away, enjoy". Whats wrong with a proper unlock system? Beat the game with one character to unlock the next one, or combinations of characters? |

w/e I really like SSBB, but only in multiplayer, but even if Yathzee didn't reiew it quite well(atleast what most ppl think) he can have criticism on every single f*cking thing in the game, it's not like you are not gonna buy the game or keep playing xD, but you will look for the things Yathzee said, and maybe find something interesting too. Instead of posting hate mail or something like that. That's just WTFLOLBBQ xD. Yahtzee 4 Life, same as SSBB xD. Lael |

Honestly, I don't think Nintendo fanboys are the only ones to get the hate. I agree. I never saw the point of the console wars, and this generation is pretty balanced. I'd stick with my DS, thank you. Enjoy the bloom and brown. |

To be honest, I actually like the way you unlock characters on Smash Bros. I personally like it better than the system you described. |

FANBOY!!! But seriously now, it's like he says in the video, some people will agree and some just won't. there will be those that will send him shit like that and you cant blame him for getting pissed can you. ow and what the hell do you mean "don't review it becasue you'll get half of the complaints". who here can say hand on heart that they'ed watch yahtzee if he didn't rip games to peices. four words for you my friend IT'S. FUNNY. AS. FUCK |

I especially loved how you played that one fanboy with a computer-esque voice. Having just recently finished Portal, I still have the "GLaDOS Effect", of either being terrified of computer voices or finding them simply hilarious. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 1 Joined: 7 May 2008 | I happen to love Super Smash Bros. Brawl and no before you immediately assume I'm going to bitch and moan that Yahtzee was mean to my game I'd just like to say I'm not going to do that. I think he's hilarious and he does make good points, good points I don't always listen to, but hey thats the magic of being able to make decisions for one's self. A really good point Yahtzee made was if you like something you shouldn't care if someone else doesn't like it. When I watched the brawl review I laughed for awhile, turned off my computer, and played some brawl. Never did the thought cross my mind that I wanted Yahtzee's head on a pike (hat included) because he's an entertainer and good one. Its his job to critize games and he does sparingly throw some praise out there too. As for calling the man a profesional troll... I always thought of him as more of a fast talking kobold... but thats just the my inner fantasy nerd showing through. While we're throwing names around I'll even direct one at myself, one could make the argument that I'm a nintendo fanboy. I own all the nintendo systems going back to the orginal NES that you had to blow hot air at to make it work half time. I even own a game cube, which admitedly is more of a useless box of wires and had I known that before hand maybe I'd have just saved my money for the Wii. However, before anyone thinks I'm on the nintendo fanboy side I have a confession to make. I also own two playstations *gasp* unthinkable right? The point I've been laboriously building up to is we're just playing games, there is no reason to go sending hate mail to a guy critizing them. If you do make that kind of practice a habit I'd like to sugest something to do instead. Go outside, breathe in the fresh air, leave behind your mechanical things, realize that all the games in the world are just things to entertain you, and then... FUCKING KILL YOURSELF! Every wednesday I look forward in my routine to listening to some british guy who lives in Australia cut up on some game. I laugh, have an enjoyable five mintues, and move the fuck on! BUT NO WE COULDN'T DO THAT THIS WEEK COULD WE!? |

The word is existent. Why are you so bothered by someone not liking Brawl? You say he shouldn't have reviewed it if he didn't want to, but at the same time your fellow Brawl fanatics (and likely you) begged him to review it. Was he just supposed to ignore those requests if he didn't like the game? Is that what a reviewer does now, only review games they like? What exactly were these non-existent flaws that Yahtzee pointed out? |
Paperboy Posts: 31 Joined: 7 May 2008 | Do people think he will like GTA IV? Or will he manage to find yet more holes in something many claim to be a nigh on perfect experience? I fucking choked on my sandwich laughing.
Yahtzee, nevermind your other reviews, that comment alone made a piece of me die on the inside, and I thank you for it.
