What annoys me isn't recycling either, but more the thought that they can make you have fun with a replica of their last game. They can, and they do. That's what annoys me. I still pay for the game, and play the hell out of it, that doesn't make it any less annoying though. |

I don't care about that either. It is just the fanboys saying all such and such do is using the same game title and characters to make that console popular, sure I agree with them, but fans need familiarity for any console. Otherwise there would be a small selection of games. |

Hey, don't fix what isn't broken. Example- Mario Kart: No matter how many times they make it, it is still fun. Especially if you play drunk, then it is hilarious. Plus, it makes you appriciate the truly great and original games, like Katamari and Okami. It's pointless to be annoyed at something like that, be more annoyed at something more important, like pricing (damn you Nintendo, WiiFit will cost me $100 with my sales tax) or hardware issues (see XBOX 360 and the Red Rings of Death). It could always be worse, like we could be forced to play Naruto games or something equally horrid. |

I suppose but it would help if people actually stopped to think about what they say and type, before doing it. Although that will not happen. Also Mario Kart on the Wii is actually really fun to play the Wii wheel feels natural, my complaint is the amount of blue shells though. |

You don't mention the controls or game-play, you just limit yourself to your opinion as a critic and express it in a way that maintains you employed. I personally loved "Mailbag Showdown", because it reminds me of my childhood and how much it sucked. People zealously defending their products more than pursuing sex or a job of their own allows me to rejoice on the fact that I can pay for sex... but don't have to... really. Oh, and what's with all the punctuation? I thought the Universe would fart itself inward. Seriously, I can have sex anytime I want. I just don't wanna. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 5 Joined: 29 Apr 2008 | I liked this one, because I can imagine the garbage that gets sent to you, and how little thought is put into it. I can imagine that 87% of the emails you got regarding that issue were complete utter trash. However (yes I am not accepting everything said as the written word) I think you left that poor guy at the end (who said he wasnt a fan-boy) in an unfair state, even if he was a fanboy, it leaves anyone who liked brawl is condemned as thus, because no matter what their true position, they are sentenced to be a fan-boy. As you said we all have our own opinions, and well it isn't fair to assume anyone with a certain opinion is some kind of loony. Those kinda statements lead to all the mail garbage and constant issues (as well as a forum full of people saying Hell yeah! and Yahtzee = god and fanboys suck, leading to more arguments) (anti-flame shield: I like every system, and a diverse amount of games, I try to maintain a non biased position, and do like each system for certain good qualities) |

You're completely right, and that's what's annoying, albeit in a rather stupid way. It is irritating that the game company (such as nintendo, in your example) can create mario karts 10 times over, with very little changes, and still have the game be funnier, and thus make a shitload of money, than some other non-nintendo shitty, but original game. It's like "Alright, you've given us the same game ten times, we keep buying them, but please give the series a bloody overhaul." But then again, you're right, don't fix what isn't broken. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 9 Joined: 31 Oct 2007 | Haha, this review was great. Excellent criticism of fanboyism and scores, and nice stab at Gayspot. I completely agree. This should also put an end to all the replies declaring that the reviews are not in fact "reviews" but just entertainment. They *are* reviews, they just cut to the bone instead of drooling over each and every big game release. (Like Gamespot) It's time for fanbois to stop QQ'ing about flaws in their games and start coming with some constructive criticism instead. |
Paperboy Posts: 31 Joined: 17 Apr 2008 | I agree with him...if people are fanboys it's just that they fooled them selfs into thinking the one they bought is the best one |
Beat Writer Posts: 170 Joined: 7 May 2008 | A review of the reviews of your review seems to be a very good filler to show these know-it-alls (supposedly) how thick they are and to buy some more time for GTA4. Really liked it, and looking foward to next week, whatever it will be. |
Paperboy Posts: 37 Joined: 7 May 2008 | The thing that everyone needs to realise is that this is Yahtzees own fucking opinion, and you think that there is something wrong with that then your an ignorant twat! The point of Zero Punctuation is hardly to be taken seriously, the whole thing is for comedic affect. If you want to know if a game is good or bad, play it yourself and don't look for a funny Englishmen to tell you his opinion! Saying that, I fully Respect you Yahtzee for having to balls to tell everyone what you think of them. Keep up the good work and keep doing things that you want to do. After all, it's your job. P.S. I'm sorry if any of this has been address, I do have other things to do at this present moment than troll through 10 pages of comments |
Paperboy Posts: 15 Joined: 31 Mar 2008 | *looks to Kaos* I fucking love you. You have just brightened my day. Also, I threw my Wii Wheel somewhere... I like using my imagination when it comes to things like that. Probably didn't help that I could not put it on right, but that was probably because of the rum. And do not group all Nintendo fans together. I am one, and I personally disown these complainers who sent the emails. Yes, I have the power to disown them from the Nintendo Fan Club. Why? Because I have tits, and that means I am right. Just kidding... well, not about disowning those retards but the Why part. Oh well, at least we have WiiFit to look forward to. And next week's show. *starts hitting keyboard because the keys are sticking again* |

Paperboy Posts: 37 Joined: 1 May 2008 | I've always loved it when people grammar check the mails they have in their videos =P I'm still hyped about SSBB regardless of what people say about it, and I'm annoyed that it has to take so long to get it released here in the EU. I think the part at the end where you compared the consoles to dogs was one of the funniest things in the video though, especially the X360 one =D |

Paperboy Posts: 15 Joined: 31 Mar 2008 | I just bought Okami Wii Edition and Mario Kart Wii. As I am in America, I do not have WiiFit yet (not out till June), and I will not be buying it. I am not pre-ordering it just to pay $100 for a game and board. Even if I can snowboard in real life on it. Had I not gone broke buying those two games, I would have bought The World Ends with You. It looks pretty and it can be much worse for my DS than Ninja Gaiden was. I almost destroyed my touch screen protector with that game... |

People see the world differently and have different natures, both affecting the way they "discuss" how something is far better than the other. Sometime the discussions can be fun and maybe you will learn to accept their view of things, other times people just argue and that in no way leads to a fun conversation and leaves with each other disrespecting the other side of the converstaion more. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 2 Joined: 7 May 2008 | love it. especially how you corrected their grammar/punctuation, ironic :D it's funny how fanboys/fangirls feel the need to shove their opinion down everyone's throats and endlessly yap about how great something is. if they enjoy it, that's great; leave everyone else alone. |

Paperboy Posts: 50 Joined: 30 Aug 2007 | Take all the time you need on GTA 4 Yahtzee, I mean I got it on the launch day and I'm not even half done with the bastard yet. I found this video to be hilarious because the same thickheads that you're calling out will of course learn nothing from the experience but it's always nice to give the people that actually use their brains something to laugh about from time to time. I've never understood how numbers make a rating better myself either, and what's even more baffling is how some people will argue how the number of numbers used in a rating system will make it superior to one or another. Look here, what matters it how accurate and well thought out the review is, a real critic will do exactly what Yahtzee does, tear a game a new asshole if it deserves that or give it praise on the (Very) rare occasion that a game rises above the tedium most games suffer from these days. |

sorry, but I gotta call you out on that one, and it's probably all ready been done before but there's two things here... first off, the spell checker in this little box calls out "customise" because it's actually "customize" and well, there is no u in favorite... well, in non-english spellings anyways, seeing as this spellchecker doesn't register favour, colour, or flavour... |
Paperboy Posts: 11 Joined: 24 Apr 2008 | A painfully, painfully true video. I especially liked the point about giving games a score: This score is never representational of how 'good' a game is or how enjoyable it is. |

Very, very true. *in the middle of smashing Halo 3-tards* It's all fun and games until someone gets all emo and goes and shoots up some populated place. Or something like that. At least Yahtzee is literate. God, literacy turns me on. |

That's why I avoid youtube discussions |
Paperboy Posts: 31 Joined: 30 Mar 2008 | That video (it was NOT a review people) was funny, but misleading. I thought about sending in an e-mail, though I didn't, but those letters he read did not represent anything I would complain about. His SSBB review was flawed because he called it a button-masher and complained about unlocking, not for any of the things we saw in this video. He is like a politician: pretending to address the issues while actually avoiding them. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 2 Joined: 7 May 2008 | Believe me or not, but I know our good friend "Jeremy Gigaballs" in real life. He's a Grade-A Nintendo fanboy (refuses to accept the Wii's mostly got party games and the fact the Zelda, Mario, etc are the same game over and over, that kind of thing) He seems to think being mentioned in this review as something to brag about (we're working on changing that, I think he's beginning to crack) Another thing, we're from Britain and therefore he has never actually played Brawl. Quite interesting how he has so much to say about something he's never experienced, isn't it?. If you want I can post the original, unabridged version of the e-mail. |
Copy Clerk Posts: 113 Joined: 7 May 2008 | I cannot button mash to save my life, I always do it the "proper" way in fighting games. Plus with the controls in Smash Bros. games you don't really need to button mash. |
