SCEA Delays Killzone 2 to Increase Sales

Killzone 2 has been pushed back not for development problems, but for strategic sales reasons, says Sony.

A post on Sony's PlayStation Blog highlighting Killzone 2's appearance at the E3 Judge's Day inspired Sony representative Ron Eagle to elaborate on the reasoning for the game's delay to February 2009. The move, as he states, was a management decision to increase the game's sales and not cannibalize other PlayStation 3 shooters like Resistance 2.

"To be clear, there is nothing wrong or causing a delay to the development of the title. We (SECA) had to look at the fall calendar with SOCOM, LittleBigPlanet, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Resistance 2, plus some PSN titles and make a decision where each game should come out. Killzone 2 was moved to Feb 2009 to make sure we didn't have three shooters in the marketplace competing for retail dollars during the same holiday season," explained Eagle.

"Hope this helps - alot of times we gamers read delay and think something is wrong, in this case, it was a pure management decision," he continued.

To be honest, sounds more like 4.5 from HAZE in IGN (which I have just noticed, it has been changed! :O ) , and trying to forget it.

EDIT: disregard that. The 6.5 is from the uk.ign website, but here is the previous marks (http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/875/875229p2.html)

:S??
