Whats your favorite video game weapon? Mine personally is the Gravity Gun(Half Life). The reason is pretty obvious, the fact you an pick up ANY object that isn't connected to the ground is amazing. And the fact that some objects do different things like the chain blades actually cut them in half. And 2nd favorite is Torque Bow(Gears of War)just because I like to see people blow up after a delay so you can laugh at them b4 they die. And third Harpoon gun. I forget what game the harpoon gun was in but you could actually nail people to that wall. The Ratchet and Clank series has an outrageous amount of good weapons but i honestly don't feel like going through each and every one to see which one I liked the most.

1.) Gravity Gun
2.) Torque Bow
3.) Hammer of Dawn
4.) Harpoon Gun
5.) One of the various Rachet and Clank guns

Dead Rising had some great weapons. The big drill you could use was also pretty entertaining.

Didn't we do this a while back? Oh well, my answer hasen't changed since then, so here it is:

The Flak Cannon from the UT series. How can one not like the most vicious shotgun/grenade launcher combo ever created by mans desire to inflict pain on the the universe?.

The best weapons are always the ones your enemies had.
After they are dead! (Read also as: While they are using it against you)

I will always have a fond memory of Jehuty's Vector Cannon. Not that usable and long to load but freck, the loading animation of the cannon was great to see every time with your very own charging bars to make you feel like you're really about to shoot hell out of your gun.
And you actually did.

Boy that was sweet.

My personal favorite is Umbra from Morrowind/Oblivion. It just doesn't get much better than a big black soul-stealing sword.

Best gun of all time that barely anyone will remember:

Rave Gun (Battlezone)

Also
The floating skull's teeth in Planescape: Torment

BFG9000 definately gets a vote, although I did highly enjoy the chain gun also in that game.

1: The gravity gun, but you can call it the "Zero Point Gravity Manipulator" if you really want.
This is, frankly, the most fun weapon. Ever. In my mind at least. It's useful, but not a game-breaker. It's versatile, it's funny and it's extremely useful in both single player and multiplayer, to boot. It's gameplay meets balance meets awesomeness at perfection.

2: Mauser C96 "Broomhandle" .
This is gonna take a bit more explaining, but I love this gun. It's got a wonderful look, the holster is solid wood and can be used as a stock (How cool is that?), the reloading is more cool than simply inserting a magazine into a gun. The fact that it's usually a powerful handgun too just adds to it.
It is, to my recollection, only seen in two videogames. Metal Gear Solid 3 where EVA uses it, you sadly can't get your hands on that pretty boy she wields through most of the game.
And of course, the classic example: The Red9 in Resident Evil 4.
Anyone who ever played RE4 can, and will, attest: It is the best handgun. If you're not doing a base unupgraded handgun only run through, you WILL get this beast. It WILL save your life, and save you ammo.

3: M1 Garand.
This rifle is just...lovely. It's powerful and accurate. My weapon of choice in any given WWII game.
And of course, the noise it makes is wonderful, absolutely sublime. I shouldn't have to say much about it, really.

4: BFG9000
For most of my childhood, I was under the impression that it was called the "Big Fun Gun". But we all know what it really stands for.
This.... needs no introduction, if you fashion yourself a gamer.

Holy hand grenade - Worms
Haleluja! KABOOM

Chaingun/Rocketlauncher combo weapon - Painkiller
The most destructive weapon in any game, with the exeption of duke nukem 3d's Devastator weapon.

Razorjack - Unreal Tournament
Once you severed an opponents head of his neck, this will be your favorite gun in the game.

Devastator weapon - Duke nukem 3d
The bastard child of a minigun and a rocketlauncher, a minigun that shots rockets!

Wraithverge - Hexen
A magic staff that, unleashes several wraiths that hunt down and kills your enemies, and with great effect too, i might add.

Bolt Crossbow - Half life 2
Nailing people to the wall is always fun, but the sheer power of this weapon makes it truly satisfying.

World smallest nuclear device - MDK
Not paticurlarly effective, but an awesome idea. Finnaly a game that allowed you to throw nukes at your enemies, in close combat.

But the best of them all is...

The Parrot - Pirates Vikings and Knights
This bloodthirsty little pet, is sent towards the pirate captains enemies, and attacks them, peck by peck, until they die. No crackers are safe, no eyes impeckable. Fear the parrot!

I love just about any wooden-type of rifle that makes a satisfying crack with its shot, and then the overstated sound of the bolt. To me, sniping is cool. The pump of a shotgun after killing someone is cool. Bolt-actions combine the fun.

Does the Portal device count as a weapon? I mean, you use it against the gun turrets.

While not my absolute favorite weapon the remote bombs in Red Faction were entertaining because when you stuck them to a person that person then ran around in a panic before you detonated them.

I really loved the Spinfusor from Tribes. It took skill to use properly what with all of the jump jetting, and skiing going on, and the slow projectile speed.

The Portal Gun.
The "Striker" from Resident Evil 4 (It's a shotgun in the shape of a mini tommy-gun).
The Halo series Rocket Launcher.
The "Excalibur" from "Golden Sun: The Lost Age".

That's all I can think of from the top of my head.

Ah, the loveliness of Excalibur... that truly was an awesome weapon. That and the Sol Blade, because nothing quite says "die" like dropping the sun on someone.

But I have to say, one of my favourites lies on Deus Ex 2. The plasma blade(or dragon tooth) plus the super-speed and cloak upgrades; switch them on, draw the weapon, and you can wreak a hell of a lot of havoc.

-stuff-
Biorifle (UT2k4 one)
-other stuff-

That's actually my least favorite iteration. It's basically the same as the UT2003 version but watered down (flies slower and does less damage). In UT2k3 it went fast enough that you could actually shoot somebody out of the air with it. The original UT version did a shiatload of damage, but it was SO slow, with UT's fast movement it was impossible to hit anyone. Like blowing bubbles at them lol.

Anyways the reason I quoted this is to ask if you've played UT3? I'm guessing not... the new biorifle is awesome! Everybody loves it now.

MrCIA - yeah, we had this thread like.... two weeks ago. It's only made it to page 3 by now heh. And I still love the shock rifle, Worms baseball bat, and... I forget what else. :P

Bullspit. The Blacktail was a delight to handle, was way more accurate, looked better, sounded better, and it's special upgrade rocked ass.

BFG9000. Nothing says destruction like a blob of green coming your way. (And if someone mentions that blue thing that they called the BFG in the Doom movie, I will kill them)

Also I'd go with the nuke in Starcraft. Nothing like watching a player scramble to find the red dot of doom raining destruction onto his poor units.

Here are my favorite game weapons:

* The Spitfire Mk.VII's flame thrower-bomb from Strikers 1945
* The flame weapon in Mystic Defender
* The flame thrower in Turok Evolution (more like psychadelic streamer of technocolor firey death)
* The flame thrower in Army Men 3D
* The flame thrower from Return to Castle Wolfenstein

...wait, what? It 'rocked ass'? Do you mean 'Sucked ass'? Cause I can see that.
Let's compare special upgrades of ALL Handguns you find the first run through.

Base handgun: Five times as likely as normal to insta-kill someone with a headshot.
Punisher: Go through FIVE opponents.
Red9: Adds 1.5 damage per shot(That is ONE. AND. A. HALF normal handgun shot of added damage, PER HANDGUN SHOT!)
Blacktail: ....adds 0.4 damage per shot, for a total damage when fully upgraded of... 0.1 lower than the second-to-fully upgraded Red9.

If you want to conserve ammo, there is NO weapon like the Red9. When fully upgraded, the damage is higher than that of the base shotgun.

Not only is the Red9 cheaper, more accurate (meaning the laser sight does not bob around as much) and more damaging, it is also more unique (all other handguns act and look pretty much identical, the Red9 being the only one sporting a stock and a unique reloading animation). The blacktail lets you move around in a circle faster, yes. But if you really need to aim around that fast, 99 times out of a hundred, you're better 180-turning and using the knife. And you shouldn't have gotten your sorry self surrounded.

I could go on, believe me, I could. But it's (very) off-topic to do so.

In short, for being cheaper than the blacktail, more accurate (handy bonus, that), more damaging per shot (that is the most important factor of a handgun by far, right here), AND stylistically much cooler since the blacktail is exactly like the other handguns in terms of looks and animations...
The Red9 is not only a plain better weapon, it's also a cooler one.

Here's a few new ones:

Super Nova (from Ratchet and Clank Deadlocked): When I fully upgraded that thing, I was hooked on single player death matches for weeks. The whole instant obliteration thing really is quite fun.

BFG: Well, who doesn't like it?

InstaGib Blaster (from UT2k4): Along with causing the most pleasing deaths ever, it looks cool.

Whomper: Okay, it's really not my fav weapon from this game, considering all the mods and stuff, but probably my fav standard weapon. Kudos to anyone who can name the game its from.
