Anonymous Source Posts: 6 Joined: 14 Feb 2008 | The Arbiter Honorable mentions go to Wrex , Riku from Kingdom Hearts, Luigi, companion cube, Capt. Macmillan from Cod 4 even though he is your CO. I think I tend to enjoy the sidekicks more than the heroes in a lot of games though. |
Beat Writer Posts: 207 Joined: 7 Feb 2008 | Pliskin off of MGS2, yes I know he was Snake and as such is a hero, but for most of the game he was the side-kick. Also pretty much every sidekick in Timesplitters: Future Perfect, ahh, there are some good ones, Harry Tipper, that robot, that slutty girl... |
Anonymous Source Posts: 9 Joined: 21 Feb 2008 | I would go for Magus from Chrono Trigger, but I cannot call him a sidekick. I guess HK-47 |
Muckraker Posts: 237 Joined: 22 Jan 2008 | sam from evil dead:regeration was alotta fun as a character. he may not have been that funny but guile from chrono cross became a mainstay of my party as did gyrobic. i agree cole and baird from gow are good honorable mentions but they're greenhorns in the grand scheme of things. |

Hah. I was just about to mention Sam. That little (half?) deadite was always fun to kick. |
Press Junketeer Posts: 445 Joined: 24 Nov 2007 | My gun. It's always by my side. ...but seriously, I'm going for Hendrix from Red Faction, R-110 from TimeSplitters: Future Perfect and HK-47 from KotOR. You know, R-110 and HK-47 seem like they'd be poker buddies or something. |

Do you mean GOTO? That dude was a dick. He was so manipulative, being all like "I'll blow up if you don't do what I say" I can't believe no one has mentioned Issun from Okami. He could be annoying at times, but it was funny how he was always so horny. And it's cool that he's an artist. There was also that priest chick that rides on Ammy's back in that one part and chucks the prayer slips at bad guys (I guess you could call her a sidekick) |

Sorry i just read the thread now... oh her name was Rao |
Beat Writer Posts: 194 Joined: 23 Apr 2008 | Companion cube: According to Wikipedia some people felt worse destroying the Companion Cube than killing the Little Sisters in Bioshock. That's impressive. Even the emotionless rock that I am felt a twinge of pain throwing that defenseless lump of metal into the fire pit. Plus they mention Yahtzee, which is actually what led me to this site and these forums. Thanks, Companion Cube. Tails: I used to like to stash Sonic out of the way and let Tails fight Robotnik (Eggman? NEVER!) before I actually learned how to play the game. Luigi: Still deserves his own good titles after all these years. Something which does not involve Mario in any, any way. (The double "any"s is an obscure reference. I like those. Figure it out and win... something) Diddy Kong: Well, the way I played, Donkey Kong was my sidekick unless I absolutely needed him, but Donkey's name is on the game, so I guess Diddy is really the sidekick. The cat thing in Heavenly Sword(s): Because it can play twing-twang, that's why. And while the Joker isn't a hero, I still vote for Harley Quinn as the ultimate sidekick. |

Seconded, pudding. Oh, wasn't I supposed to do that?
Minsc is not sidekick. Minsc uses SWORDS! Anyway, Boo is sidekick, isn't that right? *squeak*

Muckraker Posts: 322 Joined: 25 Feb 2008 | Alyx Vance from HL2. Most other companions either do nothing but die or are so insanely powerful that they make you feel completely redundant(yes bioshock, getting your own pet BD had a certain "cool" factor the first time but when a shot from a rivet gun(a pneumatic screwdriver for pete's sake!) instantly kills everything even without headshots the rest of the game gets pretty trivial(not that it wasn't already, wrench upgrades+bloodlust=going face to face with elite bouncers and winning without dropping below 75% health)) Alyx can hold her own in a fight about as good as Gordon with a slight weakness towards Hunters and Striders because she doesn't have a gravity gun. |
Muckraker Posts: 322 Joined: 18 Jan 2008 | Here's one not mentioned - Elvis, from Perfect Dark. What's not to love about a grey alien running around with (arguably) one of the best guns in the game shouting "Eat hot death, weirdos!!" Note that you're mostly fighting humans. And I'm really starting to think I'm the only person in existence who not only didn't give a damn about the companion cube, but would have burned it again, and again, and again. If Valve can get people to love a pink box with a heart on the side as a living thing, they really might as well try for a mind-controlled zombie army. Wait...I think I've said too much... |

I only found two uses for Tails in the Mega Drive games: 1) Testing for bottomless pits. |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 549 Joined: 29 Jan 2008 | Diddy Kong: He gave Donkey Kong that added coolness factor, and he kicks ass in Brawl. HK-47: No additional justification needed...meatbag. Sgt. Cortez (Time Splitters: Future Perfect) : No, not the main protagonist, but the time paradox duplicate of yourself (It gets a little confusing after a while). There's something hillarious about handing yourself the key needed to get past a locked door. Navi: HEY! LOOK!!! LISTEN!!! These words will haunt my nightmares, but they're so good. @ Necrohydra: I share your distaste for the companion cube. I mean it was pretty cool and all, but it's not that big of a deal! I mean the [?] blocks from Super Mario serve the same purpose, plus they give you items! If anything, they're better sidekicks than the companion cube. |

Paperboy Posts: 17 Joined: 22 Apr 2008 | My vote is for Bottles from the Banjo Kazooie series... every time you see the dude he teaches you a new move and refills your health and items. What can be better than that. Just make sure you have enough music notes |

Minsc ruled. As did Imoen and Jahira.
But I'll have to go with Banjo or Kazooie. Depends on who you think's the bitch and who's the butch.
What the hell was the name of that Interrogation droid from KOTOR2? Him too.
