Same here. In the lead-up to #2, I scoured the internet every day for information on new characters and Disney franchises that were going to appear, similar to what I do with Super Smash Bros. Brawl now. I finished the game on Hard mode when I got it, enjoyed it, and have never played it again to this day. My brother and his friends got into World of Warcraft, so I did too. I introduced my friends to it, and their unsettling obsession with it led me to quit. I had played it for what must be hundreds of hours. They still play and discuss it, and that still irritates me. I am deathly afraid of being considered a nerd, despite playing video games on my own free will. I never played through Ocarina of Time in its entirety. I tried to on an emulator but was quickly bored. Meanwhile, I played through Twilight Princess on the Wii and loved it. I recently borrowed Wind Waker from a friend and disliked it. Speaking of emulators, I have used them to play through the Sega Genesis Sonic games and Super Mario 64 in their entirety. I loved them. I have never been irked by graphics in a video game. I want to be a big budget film maker when I grow up. If this happens, I want to use the industry respect I'd gain to collaborate with Sega to make a Sonic 3D game. It would be called Sonic Legend and revolutionise action games, whilst reviving the franchise. I constantly have the concept running around in my head. My DS has a problem involving the game Elite Beat Agents. Whenever the spin wheel pops up and I spin it, it shuts the game off. I'm still trying to get it fixed, but the experience has made me deathly afraid of playing the final song on Divas mode. I let my brother do it. I currently have an obsession with adventure games like those from LucasArts. I have bought both Curse of Monkey Island and Grim Fandango. I'm playing the latter at the moment and loving it. I'm also obsessed with "original and understated" games like Psychonauts, and I think I have Zero Punctuation to thank for that. In the games room of a hotel I was staying at during a holiday, I wrestled a PlayStation Controller from a little kid to play the console. I proceeded to play such quality games such as Tom & Jerry In House Trap and Digimon Rumble Arena, while my siblings played pool. My high school has had obsessions with playing LAN matches of Counter-Strike and the Halo Trial Version on the computers. I joined in the latter. I think that'll do for now. JUST REMEMBERED: I have tried playing through Final Fantasy VIII twice, and always given up at the final battle of Disc 3. I hate the Junction System. |

Anonymous Source Posts: 4 Joined: 21 Jan 2008 | I finally broke down and bought Half Life 2 several months ago, and hated every single minute of it. If it weren't for my OCD-like perfectionism I would never have finished the damn game. The only reason I didn't immediately throw the damn disc in the microwave shortly after completing it, was the part where the gravity gun is actually good. It takes every ounce of determination not to punch the next person that simply can't stop talking about it. (I still regret every hour I played that game. Damn you OCD-like symptoms, damn you!) I thought that the Halo franchise was the best thing since sliced bread and that it was a Godsend until I played BioShock. BioShock slapped me in the face and made me see what a real plot was. Don't get me wrong, I still consider the Halo games in my Top Ten Best Games. I still have yet to play a single Zelda game, and probably won't. Same could be said about Final Fantasy. I think it looks stupid, stop bothering me about it already. After a day of knowing what Pokemon was, which was in 4th grade I believe, (I'm a Junior now) I could name every single one. Even though I play on Xbox Live, I still know what grammar is and I have a full comprehension of the English language. Scary isn't it? (Not really embarrassing, but true.) I actually played Dead Rising for the plot and wondered why people kept talking about sandboxes in it. I still consider Battlefield 2: Modern Combat to have the best online experience of any game, Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3 put into that category, it was simply brilliant the way it was done and wish that they'd make another Battlefield: Modern Combat game. (I loved sniping) I still have yet to play Psychonauts... I've not once been turned on by a single female in any game. (I'm straight.) I just happen to prefer the real thing. My girlfriend finds my nerd-y-ness sexy. (Not embarrassing, but true.) I got an account on the Escapist just so that I could post onto this thread. Why would I want to put forth embarrassing information for random strangers like this? |

Paperboy Posts: 42 Joined: 16 Oct 2007 | - I think that when "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" is played with a full orchestra complete with the correct vocal talent in Italian, it becomes at the very least, a moving, legitimate, if short, Opera; even though it was written by Nobuo Uematsu for Final Fantasy VI.(Who says that Music meant for video games can't have academic credit when they deserve such) - I've only beaten two final fantasy games, IV and VI, despite owning two more and playing four more before selling them, I gave up on FFVII right after the second disk started, but I've beaten Chrono Cross four times. - I think I've beaten Fallout II more than 11 times with different character builds - I beat the Columbian Missions in Hitman: Codename 47 with only a knife on the hardest difficulty setting, and that's sad. - I still play Diablo I single player. - I never beat MGS 1, I played until the dogs, and turned it off after I had to use a clip and a half to take down ONE dog, never looked back and I've never played another MGS game again. - I own entirely too many video games......84 on Steam alone! 51 game boxes stacked neatly on my desk and many more elsewhere not including the console games. - One of my favorite games of all time is Pipe Dream -I own X-com enforcer and infrequently still get the irresistible urge to play the whole game and uninstall it again. (To counter this I also own every other X-com game and play those more frequently) - I played Ocarina of Time briefly(30 minutes) and was in possession of a class-mates copy of said game for four and a half years but never touched it again. - Always found the story of Halo more intriguing than the game play, I don't own an Xbox: anything though. |

I played EVE online and was handed 100 mil isk by a corrupt GM,dev, although I found the game lacking.... I never regret that I quit WoW but I miss raiding. I belive that Zelda: OoT is a saga and should be compulsuary to play in school, simply to learn about The Great Hero Link, and his Heroic Quest™ to save Zelda and Hyrule from the evil clutches of Ganandorf, the king of thieves. Yeah, I love that game that much. I worship it. I think Epona is the best teammate ever to be featured in a game. And Grand Finale, I was the only one to accept an offer from EB Games, in which I turned in an Xbox, fifteen games and 500 SEK in order to buy a PSP. |

Beat Writer Posts: 136 Joined: 5 Jan 2008 | I love the Legacy of Kain series mostly because Kain doesn't give me the gay vibe. That and he is a fucking god among game characters. I am a pathetic Koei Fan since Dynasty Warriors 3 and actually like the plot. I think Oda Nobunaga in the Samurai Warriors series is fucking cool. I have an annoying phobia of zombies but I love making levels on Timesplitters: Future Perfect so I can de-animate them with extreme prejudice. Even to the point of having way too much practice with headshots on that game. Like decaping with 38 revolver with no problem. I have killed over 100k enemies on my Timesplitters save. I once had over 1k hours on Vagrant story before I was robbed. They took the PS2, but I lamented losing the memory card with that save. The constant supply of deadites on Evil Dead: Fist Full of Boomstick weirds me out. In tying with my zombie phobia, I got rid of Dead Rising because the tiny text was going to distract me too much while I was basically going to play one of my nightmares. I had Legend of Zelda for NES down to a science and could have all the hearts and secrets with the game beaten in thirty minutes from the word Go. However, I couldn't ever figure out how to get into the fucking castle level 8 on the second game. I only played the SNES Legend of Zelda in passing and have no interest in any of the other games. I haven't played Okami because I can't wrap my mind around killing things with a paintbrush. I actually liked Marvel Nemesis because I could toss that prick Daredevil off buildings because he is a fucking lawyer. I actually thought up backstories for my Def Jam: Fight for New York characters. During a crappy week of working at Burger King, God of War's Pandora Box treadmill of Doom room was the final straw needed to cause an outburst from me that broke a bone in my hand. I still beat the game with a broken hand and went to work for two days without treating the break before I was dragged reluctantly to a hospital. I made saves right before the sex games in Both God of War games so I could hear women get off. Fortunately my fiancee' likes the noises too. The Painkiller skit from Yahtzee's review of The Witcher went over my head for 15 minutes because I didn't realize that Painkiller was an actual game. I thought that somebody has pussified Kain so I went looking for a new Legacy of Kain game. Mind you, I got the jokes and laughed my ass off, but I didn't realize there was a game called Painkiller before I checked the review thread and felt like a fucking moron. The unbalance between monsters and humanoids in Disgaea and Disgaea 2 actually bothers me outside of the game. If you don't know what I am talking about, humanoids get weapon skills and thus boost their stats by using a certain weapon. Monsters don't get such a skill and can get Easily left behind if you put reasonable effort into your humanoids. Don't even get me started on tower stacking for felonies... I was pissed that I couldn't unlock Demon Hulk as a skin in the Hulk Ultimate Destruction game. I find Final Fantasy games to be pretentious annoyances except for Tactics because they gave me options to make my own party and have monsters. Also, as a person who pretends to be a writer, I hate I mean HATE the fact that there are over 12 games called FINAL Fantasy. Final means end and it bothers the shit out of me that it just keeps going. I have a save in Conan just so I can kill pirates at my pathetic leisure. GTA: San Andreas helped keep my sanity when I worked at Burger King because I would constantly shoot up fast food places and execute customers (Sometimes creepily violent) in the game. My son has made me watch so much Inuyasha that I think it would be sweet to play as Sesshoumaru in a Dynasty Warriors like game and kick tons of ass. I came up with a nasty strength poison on Oblivion just to torture guards. I constantly torture the vampire noble in Oblivion because I haven't done the last quest for him so he can't die. I just barge into his room and nuke him for a couple hours for cheap laughs. I chase beggars in Oblivion and cast Fear on them constantly to see them run. I felt bad for the Orc Chic Knight in Oblivion when I realized that she got herself killed in the big Maurader/Black Bow Bandit cave after calling me her friend for helping her. There is plenty more but I feel I have stabbed myself enough for now. :D |

My computer explodes when I try to run anything faster than Pac-Man. The only MMORPG I've ever played is RUNESCAPE and I really LIKE IT. I know that it pales in comparison to WoW or Everquest, but it introduces people to the genre. People I don't peg as gamers have talked about it at school. I have no zarking idea how to sign up for Xbox Live. I swear, it looks impossible from where I'm standing. I really need help with this. |

Whenever a game has a good/evil plot fork, I always feel guilty doing the evil stuff, don't do it properly, and then end up still going down the good path even though I was only doing evil things to see what happens down the evil path. I feel bad about killing peasants, even though they don't even have personalities half the time. Oh, and whenever I play a Myst game, I always think 'I will not go to the hint site' and hold out for about half an hour before going 'I'll never work this out! I need the hint site!' |

I claim to be a fan of stories in games, but I've never played any of these plot driven games: Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate 1 or 2, the Metal Gear series, or the Final Fantasy series. I think that at least when I do it, I stop after a while and go running into the enemy territory suiside style(the scary thing is that some times that works too). I hate Halo I also can't stand MMORPG's. I gave them many chances to impress me, but I never understood why they are fun to people. I don't hate them, I just can't play them, kind of. I play Amarican FPS's and Japanese RPG's and I like them both, but honestly overall, I think Japanese video games are generally much better than western games. I also think we can stop making WWI and WWII games. Although I tend to like the futureistic FPS's anyway so...yea. The big one for me is this: I hate the Xbox 360. I don't even have a logical reason why. I just never liked the Xbox from the second I saw it. |
