i would seriously by that! |
Copy Clerk Posts: 51 Joined: 10 Oct 2007 | I would like to make a realistic spaceflight simulator that's set in the semi-near future (100 years from now). Technology has advanced to the point where we can make inter-system journeys that would normally take days or weeks in about twenty minutes using gate technology. It would be an MMO. Space and atmospheric flight would both be modeled realistically, meaning in space you cant just bank you ship and turn like an X-wing. You need to compensate for momentum, like in Babylon 5, or asteroids. The planets would be unique, each having several cities to explore and interact in. In a perfect world, every city (4-5 on each planet, 9 planets) would have individual quests and missions that could be played out in a real-time FPS style. NO hit dice, no stats except for those of your weapons/ armor. Same with your ship. No invisible, behind the scenes calculations that arbitrarily determine your skill with a blaster or a targeting system. Obviously these things can be upgraded. There's also gotta be space stations, obviously. Missions will be available there, too. Long distance travel (ie: between planets) will take a long time- it'll be something you want to consider a lot before you do it. No quick runs from Mars to Jupiter and back. Using the jump gates will cost you money, too. You have the option of simply setting out full speed across the void, but then you're vulnerable to attack, and you can expect it to take a day or two to get where you're going. The flip side of that, of course, is that your jump gate fee is based on mass. So if you have a huge freighter loaded with good for sale to a nearby planet, moon, or spacestation, it might behoove you to forgo the jump gate and deal with the dangers of non-gate travel. I could see Trading convoys cruising through deep space at just under FTL speeds, millions of tons of cargo going to the highest bidder. If trading/ resource management isn't your bag (and it's not mine!) you can take up the life of a space Pirate, lurking in deep space with your reactor barely trickling, trying your best to mask your heat signature against the ambient radiation. Swoop in, disable the ship of your choice, keep what you can and dispose of the rest- including the crew, if you're so inclined. Different servers for PVP or non PVP will ensure that the noobs don't get raped too bad on their first voyage. I can go on for days with ideas, but Ill stop now. :) |

Implying realistic G-forces and momentum would be a very interesting aspect of a game. Cool idea! |
Infamous Scribbler Posts: 532 Joined: 20 Sep 2007 | Sounds like a good idea Thegreatoz. : ) Maybe a few designated players (given special invites or something) could be playing as undercover zombies whom act like normal players but stab loners in the back when no one is watching : ) I read some bit in the Vampire:The Masquerade standard book about a scanner that could identify vampires and other monsters even if they were trying to hide their true selves by faking pulse, body heat etc. I figured it would be interesting either as a singleplayer or, if possible, a multiplayer experience where some people play as monsters pretending to be humans while some humans have the ability to detect them. They cannot really fight them however, so they would try to expose them instead. Not sure how that would play out, but I think it could be at least a rich single player experience : ) |

The funny thing is, I seriously want to make it :P |

You would have to be able to capture streets, individual buildings, subways, maybe sewers and so on. Ideally I'd love for it to be a destructible or at least semi-destructible environment but I don't think the computing capacity will be there for a few decades... You could set up bases, artillery installations in the suburbs, build helicopter pads, clans could take individual buildings and hold them, stalk through the sewers in small death squads, and so on. I think it would be entirely possible to do a city somewhat like Philadelphia with relatively few tall buildings and lots of row houses where you can create a block by just copying the same model down the street. I also liked "The Fly" idea and think various animal SIM's could be a lot of fun. You could be a mouse in a house and your job is to collect various things while avoiding traps, pets, people and possibly other mice. You could do the same thing with just about any animal and I would try it out. Hawks, squirrels, snakes, whatever would be quite a lot of fun. A more free-form RPG similar to Oblivion where you could take on various roles including non-combat ones. Be a fighter, a magic wielder or a merchant. Include dungeons spread out all over the place to explore, multiple cities and towns, quests, and maybe even a few larger-scale quests (but no main quest). I think making it semi-massively multiplayer would be kind of cool so you are in a world with a few friends or up to twenty random people but not a few thousand. I'm sure I'll come up with more the second I hit post but that's good for now. Oh, and I support any sequel to Homeworld 2. |

We have thousands of people on WoW servers, why not have hundreds in mass battles. Although if I had all this at my disposal I'd probably skip the whole single period of history thing, and go for Battlefield: Through the Ages...or some such thing. Choose a time period and wage teambased war. Maybe a Rise of Nations, AoE style MMO. (Free naturally, I hate paying for a game I already own) The world goes through history around you...automatically or controlled by a Commander Player, kinda like Savage? Then others could jump in and help build/ fight/ research. Have missions for the teams to achieve, eg. commander sends knights on grail quest, spies to retrieve enemy techs. Pretty unrealistic I suppose, but a man can dream. |

Would you split it by servers like a Warcraft III game or make it entirely open MMO? An MMO RTS would be insane especially if you're using a specific time period. Build up towns and cities in the game then send your armies out to conquer and pillage. Use a world map and you would have people carving out areas in no time. |

I think that would be a bad idea. Not really the idea itself, but it would be a bad idea in the same way WoW is a bad idea : ) People would not stop playing, and if it's an RTS where adrenaline is constantly pumping it would be even harder to walk away. Dangerous. Veeeery dangerous. |
Paperboy Posts: 45 Joined: 13 Nov 2007 | I'd make a MMO-like-but-not-quite game similar to the Dynaverse system in Starfleet Command III, where players joined factions and competed over clearly demarcated sectors (lots of them) of territory, which gave them better weapons and vehicles. It would be persistent. I'm not sure exactly what it'd be - though I'm leaning toward a modern combat sort of simulation with Empires-like vehicle customization. I'd also love to make a 3D first person starship command game based on Day of Sagittarius from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I'm working on a 2D version, but I think a team based space shooter with rounds and gameplay similar to Counter-Strike would be awesome. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 72 Joined: 6 Jan 2008 | I came up with the idea of an FPS that used game mechanics similar to a puzzle/point-and-click. The story was based around a group of military/security guards living in Slavutych, working within and around the Zone of Alienation, the designated unsafe area surrounding the ruined Chernobyl power plant that encompasses the twin cities of Chernobyl and Prypiat. Then STALKER came along, and used my setting. But unlike STALKER, I formulated a few gimmicks and features of the game that would work a bit less conventionally. First and foremost, I believe in consequences for making stupid mistakes in a story-driven game, and that doesn't just mean 'Game Over, Continue? (Y/N)'. There would be several story arcs, but not just to give you a different ending; they would impact on how the game played out. One scenario that I formulated in my head was that, while on-duty, your character (who I didn't think about very much) finds a reporter sneaking around, allegedly with some weird story about rumours of a disturbance at Chernobyl. What do you do? This may sound a bit bleh, but I would have more of my stunningly original ideas if I'd've had the forethought to write them down. But suffice to say, in my mind, it would've been a classic. |

All my support. Not a penny though. :) |

I don't know how to make it anyway. Thanks though. |
Anonymous Source Posts: 4 Joined: 8 Jan 2008 | Thats a tough question but if i had alot of money. I know this sounds like most games. But i would love to make an 3-d fighter game that didn't suck. After powerstone i haven't found another one to pull it off right. Picture a 3-d fighting game the speed of ninja gaiden, adding swords and bullets, and fast unreal movements. Inshort i guess a advent children like fighter. With destroyable backrounds and anything is breakable or throwable, kickable whatever. Then using an online system like halos, to allow Voice Chat, current ranking bests, and Tournaments. Console: Ps3 not really a pc man. While the Second disc using a blue ray disc to hold the online portion. The First disc is all story mode with a branch story that never ends, free downloadable content to keep the player enjoying the rich story. |

Muckraker Posts: 328 Joined: 4 Jan 2008 | I'd make a game that's got gameplay comparable to Crackdown and Shadow of the Colossus. Have I lost you yet? Let me explain. You're in a deserted, run-down city, the kind you would see in Blade Runner. However, there is nobody around. No civilians. No enemies. You're on your own except for the ruins of a city and large billboard-sized TV screens broadcasting the narrator (and narrative) of the game. In a totally open and interactive world, much like Crackdown, one by one, super bad guys with unique weapons and abilities are let loose into the city to hunt you down, find you and fight you to the death. For those of you who haven't realized it yet, it would be based on The Running Man. |

Copy Clerk Posts: 61 Joined: 7 Jan 2008 | I'd make a game, where you are a scientist, and your job is to make boiled water form allegiances. And I'd get Tim Schafer and Valve and those kids who made Portal work on the story and world. And in the middle of the game, you wander into a room filled with nothing but Yahtzee statues. Yes, Yahtzee, this one's for you. |
Muckraker Posts: 266 Joined: 10 Jan 2008 | The first stage of God of War and the sequal are quite possibly my favorite gaming experiences ever. You're a blade wielding mastah and you're demolishing armies single handed and at the end is a pants soiling massive boss (I for one don't mind button matching sequences, if i wanted a passive cinematic I'd watch a movie). However, after the first level both of these games they degrade into block puzzles and scavenger hunts broken up by occasional combat. So , I'd create a game around that theme. Legions of mooks, epic bosses, and intense melee combat. Pure and simple. So there's a locked door with a picture of a blue griffin over the keyhole? Kick the stupid door down. Little children go on scavenger hunts and play with blocks, I bought a hack and slash game I want hacking and slashing confound it! My game wouldn't bait and switch on the style of game (Like say, Heavenly Sword who desperately wants to be a FPS for some odd reason) or have normal mooks who can dish out and take more damage than you can (Ninja Gaiden I'm looking at you) you're the hero of this story and hence the coolest creature in the universe (with the big bad coming as a close second). Realism will take a backseat to pure unadulterated awesomeness. If I wanted realism I'd look out a window. Barring that, I'd make some kind of DDR type game, using martial arts movements |

I would love to see something like this, except less emphasis on FPS but you're more of a Rpg type game where you're stuck in one place, like a city or suburb and you have to survive and as a normal person you can only use what you can get your hands on, no I'm an Ex-Army guy with 40 million guns in my back shed, That's bull crap, i would make it so you could choose your age, where you live, whether it's a suburb or a small township or whatever, You could enter every building you wanted there would be no loading times, it would be fully dynamic like burnout paradise. As a normal person you would only be able to use what you could find, a hammer a shovel, piece of wood or a tree brance or something And there would be no super zombies that take 50 million shots to the face with a shotgun they would be decaying and on the verge of falling apart, the scare factor would come from the countless waves that continue to come at you and the fact that when you get to the point of being holed up in a house or a office building or whatever you would end up being pushed back to the very edge. Oh and did i mention it's a MMO so you can team up with friends or random people. I would also make a game that would be like a life sim, you would start off as a child or a teenager and the world is your oyster, as you grow up you can do what you want, it's not like those wishy washy GTA shootem up games where you pick up a star and every forgets about you, This would be like if you murder someone there is an investigation and a warrent for your arrest and such. You could do what you want when you want how you want I would make it like the world is your oyster. A fully open world. That's it for now. User was put on probation for: The wii, a console that can apparently only produce B grade games.... (7 days) |

I thought of a game that went something like that. It would be cool if thye put a database in the game, that let you choose a real life city you wanted to play in. Some of the major cities in each state (in the US) would be featured, so you can try to survive in a post apocolyptic rendering of your own town. Just a thought.. |

I'd quite like a zombie apocalypse survival game. You don't adventure to kill things for their loot - you kill the zombies to get at the remains of the mall behind them, stock up on tins of tomato and baked beans, and sell them back in town: a town that drains resources depending on how many people are logged in for how long. Rather than being assigned quests in town, you go out with some people, and a map with appropriate quests is generated around you. You get whatever you can find. I'd quite like that if you died, your shambling undead body could be later found on an expedition, carrying whatever you died with. If it dropped the standard levelling/skill increase thing that seems to make a game an RPG, and instead based it on actual skill (thinking of Wii remote for guns, hammers, axes, bows and so on), losing a character wouldn't be so bad - especially if you knew where the body was to loot. The idea needs more ironing than I can provide at this late a time. |
Beat Writer Posts: 173 Joined: 11 Jan 2008 | The 3D GTA Brawler MMORPG. We call it Streets of Fury because the look and occupation of Terry Bogard is partly the inspiration for it. So, huge 3D fictional urban sprawl with crime and street gangs up the wazoo. Gangs = Player Guilds, always looking to recruit new freelance fighters with martial arts talent aka YOU. Police = AI Who Is Unfriendly to All Street Gangs, plus maybe one or two 'Evil' AI Gangs. Major customization in every aspect of your fighter as you level up- looks, clothes, fighting style, create/name-your-own special moves. And these are the kind of logic-defying, anime-style moves you see in Garou or any other fighter. No fatalities- anyone who falls gets sent to the nearest friendly hospital for a small fee. Drugs? Temporary performance enhancers for close battles, but you'll pay the price a few hours later. All gangs vie for control of neighborhoods- the more places that you control, the more cash is evenly split between participating members- a reason not to try and win through sheer numbers. All the same, massive 8 v 8 brawls would be the norm. Include a chat and emote feature all the same even if you're too busy to use it mid-battle, seeing as how MMORPGers prefer Social Simulation aspects. |

Then I'd get as many Black Isle people together as I could, and make the REAL Fallout 3. Personally, I think Bethesda would make make more money with a better game if they listened to Fallout fans who think like me (not uncompromising and unrealistic purists with no grasp of how capitalism works). |
