Actually this doesn't surprise me. Jack is all about VIOLENCE, not sex. Mind you he would open up the gates of hell if he found out that a single copy of that new 360 muder simulator where you can create a virtual version of yourself ant then train to kill other people and aliens with assault rifles, pistols, hand grenade, and psionic powers were sold to a 16-year-old kid.

Relax. As I said, this doesn't surprise me at all.

Whenever Jack Thompson attacked a game, he had at least some material to base his wildly misinformed rants off of. For example, it WAS sex in the Hot Coffee fiasco. Albeit it was fully clothed consenting sex that wasn't visible unless you wanted to see it, but it was sex nonetheless.

But this, this is an artsy-esque film piece being called sodomy for no logical reason and without any facts to back it up. Not even the 'thing' that is Jack Thompson would join that arguement.

If he is, in fact, of sound mind, then this just supports my theory that he doesn't really believe all that strongly in the things he claims he does. This is a personal correspondence, so he spoke his mind without putting on a show.

Or maybe he DOES know what he's talking about, and knows enough about Mass Effect to realize that it's not actually the sort of game he usually gets in a huff about. Not terribly violent, mild sex scenes. With GTA4 coming up, he probably doesn't really care one bit about this particular game.

I just doubt he has any problem at all with Mass Effect... I mean, it's not like the games he usually goes after. In Mass Effect, you can't drive around NYC running over people, then stop and spend your drug money to hire a hooker, before shooting her in the head and taking the money back. If anything, I imagine he would be pleased with the way Mass Effect handles moral issues, and that it was marketed towards older gamers than the little kiddies he says he's trying to protect.

Things like GTA, on the other hand... I actually agree that children shouldn't play it, though I also realize that ridiculous litigation won't stop that from happening. Thompson... doesn't.
