Sonic And Knuckles - Hidden Palace zone, as sonic, when you fight knuckles. Unbelievable. Metal Gear Solid - The fist fight with Liquid, followed by Snake and Meryl's escape. |

I couldn't stand that level. If i heard that little girl say "cradle" one more time i was going to blackjack her in her little ghost head. I would have to say my favorite level in a game is a user made map on cs 1.6 called ka_superjumping. There was a pool of water which shot you up the complicated map with nades sitting around everywhere. Wasted a summer on that map. |

Thought that was the most brilliently designed and interesting place ever created. And to comply to current social norms, The Sniper mission in Cod4. |

The finale of Episode Two was awesome. In Halo 3, the finale "This Is The Way The World Ends" was a great level. And in Unreal Tournament, the Sesmar map. I don't know why, but that map is challenging in a good way. |

I'll second the last mission of Metal Slug 3 (because of the way it catches you completely by surprise, and because of how awesomely epic it is) and The Life of the Party in Thief II (though I must say I preferred the demo version, seems like there was more detail in it). Psychonauts had some fantastic levels, as a lot of people have mentioned. |

"I... I helped them, that it. Maybe, maybe I should help myself?..." That it was delivered by the same voice actor who played the pistol marine in Halo 1's swamp level just made it all the creepier. -- Steve |

Copy Clerk Posts: 107 Joined: 9 Dec 2007 | Halo 1- Company of Heroes- the first time you defend against the Axis. I think there were three bridges to defend. Anyways, the only man surviving that mission was my sniper in the church tower. Best moment in a RTS...evar. I kinda felt bad due to my sucky commandeering. Half Life 2- The level after you save Barney from the snipers. After you clean out the Combine HQ. Having striders fire upon you when you're sprinting, trying to avoid their bullets is FUN. Counting your rockets while hiding behind a wall while the striders fire upon you is always fun. Trying to reach the next safety point without being torn up by Striders is also fun. Halo 3 (OMG?!)- The last level, really made me reminisce on Halo 1's warthog scene. I guess this level was meant to give the gamer a sense that the Halo series is finally ending. To tell the truth, I felt a bit sad. Not many games give that kind of feeling, imo. |
Paperboy Posts: 18 Joined: 28 Feb 2008 | The level in Operation Flashpoint, not too far from the beginning, where you're ordered to take a town in Everon, only for command to radio in and announces a full retreat is in progress, and for everyone to doubletime back to Morton, and THEN the shit hits the fan. Or possibly the mission straight after that, avoiding every Soviet from here to Moscow trying to get 5kms in 15 minutes, crawling...sprinting...driving at high speed through a Soviet tank column. Best designed level I've ever played... except for the fact I made it to Morton on time once...and no one was there... |

I believe you mean Carentan Counterattack. That's what CoH does. It shows that you suck, but you can improve. |
Paperboy Posts: 32 Joined: 3 Jan 2008 | So many.... The original Tomb Raider's middle levels (from St. Franis Folly to Tomb of Tihocan) were where the game really took off. Standing on Midas' hands and turning into gold was the very moment I knew that this game was something very special. And the cistern stage was doing water-based puzzles long before Ocarina of Time's Water Temple. The Second Level from Metal Slug 3: exploding zombie vomit. Enough said. Hill Top Zone in Sonic 2: Best. Music. Ever. Sanctuary Fortress in Metroid Prime 2: One of the most amazing, elaborate, trippy Geiger-esque locations imaginable. Haunted Spaceship in Super Metroid: Every level in that game was an absolute joy, but this miniature section had some of the most interesting puzzles and was easily the creepiest stage in the game. Ninja Gaiden: The underground temple where you battle that huge skeletal dragon was immense fun. Sky Temple in Twilight Princess: It looked absolutely gorgeous, and it had some satisfying puzzles. Just like the rest of the game, really. Have to echo the Cradle from Thief 3 - tense stuff, and those juddering lunatics were a special kind of sinister. And that's all I can remember for now x |

i thought i was the only one! that's my favorite dungeon from any game. normally you look forward to playing the boss, but for me it's the water temple. after that, the game isn't as fun since i've completed my goal haha. getting ghillied up in CoD4 was the best level in the game. |
