i've been trying to remember this game for ages, it was kind of like worms but with stationary space ships in orbit around planets. you had to destroy the other spaceships by using the gravity of the planets to guide your missiles.
probably around 10 years old and i think it was shareware.

sadly not, it was turn based but with the worms structure, just deathmatch. no story or unit construction.

i feel this is gonna just have to bug me for ever

I don't know what the original game was, but there's a flash game on Weebl's Stuff that sounds similar... Its part of the "On The Moon" / "Insanity Prawn Boy" collections.

WarHeads! I'm positive that's WarHeads you're talking about. I remember that game. Good times. You could select a shield and weapon to use for one round, and they would cost you money, which you would gain by damaging one of the other ships.

That game also had some badass quotes that ship pilots would say before firing their weapons. "Win if you can, lose if you must, but always cheat!" and "Die, Milkface!"

It is WarHeads, right?

i think duck sandwich may just have it!
found a website for a WarHeads SE, so i've downloaded the trail and i'll check it out in the morning.

we should use this as a thread to help other lost souls like myself with a thirst for games from their gaming past.
anyone remember a game that was in the atari amiga era, turn based overhead fantasy game like a
fire emblem except you where a wizard who collected ingredients for his couldren to create his army of skeletons, griffins and such. i think you where fighting another wizard and maybe
it had chaos in the title

I did a bit of research and came up with the title "Gravity Wars". It seems fairly similar to what you described, so here is the link:

well my game was newer than gravity wars but it must be a early version of the one i'm trying to remember,
just tried the war heads trail. i think we have a winner, tho it must have been a earlier non special addition that i played cus the graphics are different but the gameplay mechanics are near identical.

thank you Mr Sandwich
and Mr Sennet i'm checking your link aswell, thanks

In the vein of games-long-lost:

A game where you play a cat and jump into various windows with varieties of puzzles / action?

An exceptionally old flight sim - I just remember it being in black, white and magenta (or cyan) one plane, and some minimal dogfighting?

did it have a guys name in the title(the flight sim) i have a vague memory of one that was buzz something: plane(ie hornet, mig etc)
oh any more info on the cat/puzzle game, was it a side scroller, were the puzzles finding objects and combining like monkey island or something like myst?

I don't remember a guy's name.

These are real old games - CGA and EGA only.

The cat game was basic - you started on a fence, had to jump up using washing lines - avoiding boots coming out of the windows. Jupming into a window would start a number of mini-games.

I remember one where you had to cath goldfish in a giant oldfish bowl, and another with a massive chunk of cheese where you had to catch mice...

Edit: after a while googling, I found it: Alley Cat

and, I think F-15 Strike Eagle, PC in beautiful CGA
