Glitches in Star Wars Battlefront. If oneself can get inside a wall, there is almost no stopping them. Fortunatly, me and my clan have a little syaing that speaks on behalf of many gamers; Glitches are toys, not tools.
Still, it's a *meep* for anyone who has to deal with those people.

How's this for an old one? Star Trek: 25th Anniversary. Old adventure game about the original series released in 1993. The last mission in the end has you battling two ships, one being a duplicate Enterprise. The battle is considered to be nigh impossible and entirely based on luck... I never did get to finish that mission and the game.

Bully, the game. The final mission I beat up everyone, and am fighting Gary on the scaffolding. Gary finds a glitched spot and gets stuck, and I can't finish the mission. To get to this part you have to run around the academy and take out the leaders of the four cliques plus make your way up to Gary. Takes probably 2-3 hours... was not happy...

In my opinion, Xenogears once you hit the second disc... I had to groan at how unfair it was for the game to suck so bad after that. And they had it going SO well before that...

Playing Jurrasic Park for the SNES and realizing it had NO SAVE FEATURE!!

Star Control 3... just... the game itself. Damnit, that one hurt...

And my final, most retro 'no fair' moment... Playing Yar's Revenge, and being taken by the Ghost of Yar. Only happened once... still sucked...

i'm with you on that one. that had to be one of the most horrible things a person could come up with for a game. i played it a bunch of times, never with the intent on beating it. one time i decided to try. never again. anyone ever play super bonk on the snes? same BS. probably a lot of games out there that are unforgivable for that reason

years ago, when Marvel VS Capcom 2 just came out in arcades. i had enjoyed the first one (i wasnt too good, but it was fun), and i was excited when i saw it. me and my friend were in a small arcade, and there were two machines near each other. there were maybe like 5 people total in the arcade that day. one guy was playing MVC2, and he was quite good at it. i just wanted to try the game so naturally i went to the other arcade. im about 15 seconds into my match when the other guy comes over to my arcade, pops in a couple quarters, and proceeds to beat the crap out of me. i didn't even know what the new features were in this game yet, and this guy comes over to get his jollies. wtf? i mean, how lame do you have to be? haha

1)Ending of The Longest Journey
I know it was better for April but hell... it made me cry.

2)Ending of Dreamfall
Well...I like it but at that time I wanted to beat Ragnar Tørnquist with something hard and heavy.

3)Escape sequence in Deus Ex
I finally escape from my brother's hotel room, sneak/run to the subway station and get to the next station. I go outside just to be greeted by Agent Hermann and a few soldiers who blocked the escape with some big metal crates. So I chat with him for a while, refuse to surrender and flee back to the station with Hermann following me. There I shoot at that metal bastard from the ventilation shafts with everything I have just to realize that he's apparently invincible. I change the plan, put on the invisibility armor, run outside, use super-strength to remove one of the crates and sprint away just to find out that the rest of the map(which we visited in one of the previous missions) is almost completely empty and looks like an abandoned movie studio. So I humbly return and let the Tin Man arrest me. Ouch.

I never had many "No fair" moments, but I remember playing DMC3 at the chessboard part and I had to destroy the king in order to finish the part very fast. I made my way to him, used all of Dante's powers, managed to kill the king and I was supposed to pass onto the next part- but Dante died at the exact moment the king did... game over -_-

Thought of another one: Playing as a spy in TF2, cloaking then getting headshotted by a sniper aiming for the ally who happend to be behind you. That, and crit rockets are never fair, as long as you can see it explode, your in the radius to die from it!

The dirtbag commander in Battlefield games, who seems to be there purely to stroke his ego, because he's not doing anything. And the retarded team that's to stupid to mutiney.

And of course any FPS that put you on an important mission with totally shitty weapons.
"Alright Soldier, we need you to rescue the president with his Nuclear Doomsday device from satan and his numberless minions in the pits hell. Here's a pistol and 12 bullets, go get 'em"

about any time when enemies seem to have an infinite ammount of ammo, untill you kill them. Then they only have 4 shotgun shells.

In Baldurs Gate, and BG2. Every time one of my chars was perma-killed.

Ever played Persona 3? After beeting forms 0-12 the final boss goes into his final stronger form, and when he had one hit before his death, he charmed one of my characters who happened to have a full healing spell...and she thought that the smartest thing to do would be to fully heal the final boss...

That is hilarious.

well the one that got my ire up the most is in gta san andreas

during the race side quests one race you have to go down a hill and if you fall off the cliff and live but miss the check points you have to go back get the check points and of course lose the race. if you push the npc cars off the cliff they can continue on without having to hit the check points AND even pass and win the race

out of everything that one still ticks me off after all these years

tho crystal chronicles comes in a close second, i got pretty far into it, like 5 or 6 seasons and then it switched elements to ones i couldn't cross and the only available lvls were ones that were well above my chars skill set. stopped playing the game at that point

My current 'no fair' gripe is the Slash boss battle on Hard in GH3. He doesn't miss a note when you don't use a powerup on him and seems to recover way too fast. Definitely hit the point with that game where it's stopped being fun to play.

Wait'll you meet Lou.

Lee's infinite kick combo in Tekken series. You think someone would eventually get rid of a 1 button infinite combo. And that combo moves him foward as well so you can't just walk backwards and watch him kick in place.

You can sidestep from Tekken 3 on. In Tekken 2 you get pushed to the side after blocking so many hits. But I agree for Tekken 1.

I gotta say Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson's Punch Out! I remember my first experience vividly.

First time I fight him: "OK...sit back, see what he does to give himself awa-" SMACK! Knockdown 1.

"What the fuck?!? He dropped me in ONE PUNCH?!? Ok...he blinks before throwing. OK he just blinked...move to the side...he didn't do anyth-" SMACK! Knockdown 2.

*2 minutes into the round* "OK. I think he's done with the blinky magic punches. What else can he-" SMACK!

TKO.

Any sports game made by EA: "Woo! Leading by 3 with 3 minutes to go! Too easy"
1 minute later: "Okay, still leading by two, this should be fine..."
2 minutes later: "Right boys, hold on to that one point lead, come on..."
3 minutes later: "GET TO THE GOALS, GO! NEED TO SCORE..." [Ball gets intercepted, opposition scores with with 3 seconds remaining, you quit the season, grind the disc to dust and use it as baby powder]

Definitely. EA's games have ridiculous "rubber-banding" AI. They claim that it keeps the game interesting so that you will never have a blow-out victory. The problem is that the advanced AI doesn't turn off once it takes the lead. That's why I wound up trading in EA's NBA/NFL Street titles.

The 3rd stage of the boss battle against Yami (I think that's its name) in Okami.

You're fighting a slot machine where the only way to inflict damage is to randomly power-slash one or more of a particular symbol.
It took me a literal fifteen minutes before I got bored of having no idea how to damage him and looked up a guide, only to find random chance was the only way and I'd been unlucky enough to not be successful once.
This is a rare example of the reactive boss, who can't do anything unless you attack first.

Funny thing about Lou: I beat him the first time on the song. Then failed the next three times.

Much as I love Shadow Dancer and Revenge of Shinobi on Sega Genesis, I can't recommend them today. They make Ravenholm look a cakewalk.

Mine has to be a shedload of 8 & 16 bit games that cheat to beat you, with psychic enemies, jumps that vary length and, of course, the dummy exploding powerup.

Call of Duty 4 with my friend on his 360, I set off TWO CLAYMORES under him, he wasn't even a juggernaut, and he lives, shoots the wall beside him with a shotgun, and hits me in the face. I almost threw the controller at him :\

Whenever I play mario kart and I'm about to get 1st place, right before a blue shell blows up and four people pass me. It's part of the game, sure, but it always ticks me off.

Weapons taken away in the citadel in HL2.

Ooh, I was once playing Battlefield 2. I use the quickfind option. Get on a server as a Chinese. Go to a plane. There's an American in it. I smile because I'm a SpecOps. Use all of my C4 on it. -BOOM!- Kicked from server, and I quote, "For being an ASSHOLE!"

Because I was trying to defend my base, I got kicked. What the fuck?

Definitely getting nuked in CoD4.
It was unfair not only by being so titanic, but unlike most cited examples, you cannot defeat, evade, prevent, or circumvent it in any way.

Yiazmat in FFXII also comes to mind. 54 million HP is just ridiculous, especially when you throw Magick Barriers and Palings in. The game is long enough without the guy.

hmmm...
ET for the atari 2600 --- falling down those freaking holes and having some insane way to get outwhere you levitate in some odd way and not having any idea on how to get out even when you levitate up.
-----
dragon warrior for the NES. finding that darn good armor. this was before the internet and looking up stuff in 30 seconds. you had to search every darn section of the map block by block. and it is hiding in the section with the huge section of the poison swamp that you want the armor to get through so you don't take damage from every step through the poison swamp.

battlefield vietnam, my m16 sniper ran out of ammo so all I had was a pistol, and someone playing as a vietcong has picked up an M60 and grenade launcher...and he was in a jeep with someone else...

the first big boss in God of War...but then I found out Kratos kicks a**

in star wars: battlefront 2, whenever i was a jedi, i would just continuesly use force push on my friend to push him around(if he was on my team or not), whether it be into a corner or off a cliff,
and whenever he would try to get up, i would just push him back down. good times =)

Titan Mode in God of War II, fighting Zeus with the big sword when he's about to execute Kratos.

The first time that happened I was "NO FAIR!" because there was absolutely no warning that Kratos was going to fight back - by this point I'd put down the PS2 controller to have a pull on my vodka. Other than that the first time I played Starcraft online and got Zerg Rushed.

That's like calling a cut scene unfair. The point was never to beat it but to get across the message that, as Yahtzee said, "Nukes R bad". And hell, even the side message of "You can be awesome and kickass and totally save some pilot's ass, but war will still kick you in the balls if it wants to."

Lol for a while I thought "Nuke in CoD4" meant a new kill spree upgrade in multiplayer.

I liked the nuke in CoD4. It said "You are not immortal. Get with it."

It caused me to, um, not die after that. Ever. I didn't die once after that event.

Practically any boss in Ninja Gaiden.

-and I remember some RTS games like DoW(WA) where in the campaign it was me, some Guardsmen, a Command Squad, and some buildings to hide in, while I had to hold off about 1,000 orks and two Squiggoths for 10 minutes till Re-enforcements (which I thought were gonna be useless 'til I saw that it was a baneblade and really tough units)...longest 10 minutes I've played in a game, I was on the very verge of destruction until the last second hit...if I was on a harder difficulty it would have definitely been a "NO FAIR!" moment.

Oh and "Dante Must Die" difficulty modes on DMC are a fucking pain.

I was playing FFXII and was in the desert at the begining of the game. I couldn't do my quickenings very well, and when I attacked a Sauras I'd killed easily the two times before, I was shocked when it was STILL standing after a 12 chain quickening. All the others had died. This one lived. It was level 36 I was level 15. Needless to say, it got a little pissed and slaughtered me.
