LoZ, Kirby's Dreamland, and Arkista's Ring. For da Sega, it was Sonic and Streets of Rage.

Winter Games (C64)
Firetrap (C64)
The Secret of Monkey Island (DOS)
Pitstop (C64)
Rebel Assault (DOS)

and "Der Planer" wich has you manage a freight forwarding business (hope the translation is right...it's like a delivery company, but only with trucks)...Germans are pretty sick when it comes to simulation games ^^.

Sonic and Knuckles and Abe's Oddysee are the two I have the fondest memories of, Sonic 2 was good fun as well.

When I was younger, I wasn't really into games. I only had a couple games, I had Pokemon for the gameboy, and Batman and some other game on my Sega. I can't even remember what Sega it was, because I just called it the Sega. I wasn't even allowed to go on the computer unless I was doing homework.

Damn. This thread makes me feel embarrassingly young.

The first game I remember playing intensively was some highly obscure, Dutch-only endutainment version of Rayman which my parents bought for me.

Obviously, they had no idea what sort of monster thay had unleashed. The sudden appearance of 'Shadow Rayman' temporarily traumatised my young mind, however, and it caused me to stop gaming for a short while.

...

What? I was very impressionable at that age.

Later, when I got my own bonafide PSX, I ended up a fanatical fanboy of (in order): Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3, Tekken 3, Final Fantasy VII, Star Ocean 2 and last but not least; Suikoden II.

To this day, my eyes grow dreamy whenever a track from a Suikoden game pops up on my playlist.

There was actually one game as a child I really enjoyed playing, but I was so young I didn't remember what that game was. :( But I guess if I have to pick one I can name, I'll go with Sonic the Hedgehog. The 8-year old Sonic fanboy in me will never die.

Quake. Its not the game I've played the most but it is whith out a doubt what sucked me into gaming.

Vectorman. I loved that one for the Genesis, if only because the cheat codes were SO awesome. Things like "DRACULA" and "CALL A CAB" or "ABRA CADABRA".

Ballz was a really good one too. Early "3d" fighting game using spheres to make the characters appear 3d was cheap and effective. Plus the game play was really fun.

This seems to be a common one here but Sonic 2 was the first game I was really obsessed with.
Other than that there was:
Spyro
Echo the dolphin
Some Apogee game called Raptor that I couldn't stop playing
Monster Bash
Worms
And I suppose a bit later on, Tekken 3

There's probably more than that but those are the first ones that came to mind.

This is a cool thread! My childhood favorites are (in no particular order):
Eye of the Beholder (Amiga)
Turrican 2 (Amiga)
Metroid (NES)
Metal Gear (NES)
Zelda (NES)

Coming from Europe, in the 90's there was only one game - Sonic the Hedgehog.

Although S2 was heavily hyped (and lived up to it), Sonic CD holds closest to my heart.

Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. This is one of my favorite rpg's of all time

I agree. Another great game was Kid Icarus. The original Kirby was always fun. And the Zelda series, Megaman series, and others.

"Super Mario World" or the Zelda games on SNES and GameBoy. Also one of the "Ganbare Goeman" Japanese import games for the SNES.

Well, there was DOOM i guess. But what I really used to love was a game by SCi called Kingdom O' Magic, a LOTR spoof basically... very very silly, quite funny (if you're that age especially) and was fun to play.

When I was a child, I didn't play vidya games. I played with Barbies. I remember I'd used to make up all these elaborate storylines and shit. Ah, that was fun.

I first started playing vidya games when I was... ten, and that wasn't terribly long ago, so 'as a child' doesn't apply to that age just yet.

However, I'm going to have to go with 'Kingdom Hearts', since that was my first and therefore holds a special place in my heart.

Senaro:
I always had a fascination with the game King's Quest VI when I was younger. It was a point & click adventure game with some of the funniest humor I remember as a kid. I even saw it on sale at Gamestop the other day, but it had all 7 games in the series on one cd, so I was totally overjoyed, having only played two of them myself.

Are you sure there were 7? I was fairly certain there were only 5. I got the first 4 on one cd when I was about 11. They were called Quest for Glory instead of King's Quest but it was the same game. And QFG (or King's Quest) V was the big 3d one that was released a few years ago.

I only ask because if there actually are 7 of them i'll trawl the earth looking for the other 2.

Also I work in Gamestop and we've never gotten them in. Shoddy Ireland.

Kinda surprised that it's not here more but the original Super Mario Bros.

Also: Legend Of Zelda: Links Awakening
Dr Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine
Sonic 1-Knuckles
Ready, Aim, Tomatoes! (The toe-jam and earl megadrive gun game :)
Doom
Alien Soldier
Gunstar Heroes <------------ Still the best side scrolling shooter ever. No exceptions.

I used to play Dr Robotniks MBM with my mates when I was seventenn. We'd sit round at his flat, get a couple of bottles of cider and get hammered, hurling insults at each other till the early hours of the morning. Good times :)
