Whats the thing that makes you most pumped up or scared in a game?

Mine is the announcer guy for the OpFor team in COD4 when he says, "Domination" at the beginning of a round.

Hearing Ivy's voice in Soul Calibur. I cannot defeat that bitch no matter what I do >.<

Even though I can't stand the game, the "ding" in Everquest when you gain a level is my favorite video game sound ever. It made all of those wasted hours seem almost worth it for the brief second that the sound played.

The super shotgun in Doom II. Most. Satisfying. Sound. Ever.

I have a few but most of them escape me ATM. But the best sound I CAN think of is Warhawk's Main Screen music. It simply SOUNDS epic. It feels like your a jet fighter pilot which just earned "Ace" ranking and as your stepping out of your craft, you strike a pose and then a full symphony orchestra begins playing, tears rolling down their faces; moved by your heroics.

Its definetly something worth hearing.

The energy sword sound. When you hear it you know god is smiling upon you.

The the kind of 'CRACK!!' sound that a critical grenade makes when it hits 4 people in TF2 is my favorite.

Basically most of the sounds from Sonic 2. I've been playing the game again recently, and every step is just steeped in nostalgia. I love it.

Which one? The singing one, the screeching one, or the yelling one? Anyway, the legend of Zelda chime when you find an item, and the other chime when you unlock a secret.

I'm gonna have to do a top 5 list.
1. The Announcer's voice in Super Smash Brothers Melee.
2. Any Combine voice.
3. Starcraft, any sound effect.
4. "You have captured the intelligence."
5. The victory theme of Final Fantasy 1.

The jackpot tune in Red & Ted's Roadshow... Charlene Carter blares out "Every little thing" once you finally manage to make Ted choke on a multiball.

That little Zelda tune that comes on every time you solve a puzzle.

I love the sound you get when you pick up loot in Thief. Also, pretty much any sound in Worms Pinball.

When Jeff Steizer gets on a roll as the Halo/2/3 multiplayer announcer... "Double kill. TRIPLE kill. OVERkill. Killtacular! Killing Spree! Tied the leader! Gained the lead!"

Also, any time I get to fire a tank's main gun in any game. I don't think that sound has ever been rendered lamely in any game I've played (more than once, anyway).
